That sounds actually awful. With something that works on the Switch properly like Taiko at least the Switch controllers can easily emulate hitting a drum. Creating a virtual DDR pad based on the Joy-Con sensor feedback alone sounds like too much work for its worth.

do you think we'll ever get a console release of DDR every again? I think one on the Switch could do pretty well..
No.

I'd like a DDR game too but I wonder if it'll actually sell well (and I seriously doubt they'd do a e-amusement cloud version either), though another Mario Mix-type thing would be pretty neat (if it had KO's it'd be even better, and maybe not so easy charts).

SEXY PLANET is a disgustingly underrated song. Everything about it works so well, and the stutter moan section you get in the preview is arguably one of the greatest small moments in DDR.
I love it.
Do tell, what are some of your favorite small things in DDR tunes?

Not the biggest on the orginal Sexy Planet but the Nonstop Megamix version is one of my favs to play on EXTREME.I love it.

I know people hate it, but I love the start of slow part of Trip Machine survivor before the first step.

"Let's Do the Rain Dance" |
Off the top of my head:
-The Bollywood sample in SUPER STAR.
-The way the riff just comes in full-force in SMOKE after "and fire in the sky!".
-The trills on the keyboard in DR.LOVE right after "Can't you be my love"
-The drop on Right on Time (Ryu Remix) by the guitar.
-The vocal sample that turns into a synth in RUGGED ASH (or is it all synth that sounds like voice? Either way, cool)
-The combination of the Boogie Wonderland sample's riff and "...smile off your face, Jack" in WONDERLAND.
-The swooning synth at the beginning of the 140BPM part of WILD RUSH.
-The "YAH!" at the beginning of WILD RUSH (PCM Mix)
-That whipping drop synth preceding some of the verses in HOT LIMIT. In general, I love it when Eurobeat songs do that kind of thing.
-That moment in AFRONOVA PRIMEVAL when the drums halt for half a beat right before the final "drop".
-The part in TELEPHONE OPERATOR where the singer seemingly channels Frank Oz for a note.
-The part in GROOVE 2001 where it stutters all robotically like "eh-ah-da-oo-ee-be-on"
-The fact that the game cut of THE REFLEX ends on one last acapella "Dah nah nah nah"
-The "ah, ah" in LOVE MACHINE's 2nd chorus.
-The key change moment with the high note starting a run on The Least 100 Sec.
-The Bollywood sample in SUPER STAR.

I really like how the extended version of DROP THE BOMB samples the SySF remix. I kinda wish the original one did that too
The beginning of GRADIUSIC CYBER (AMD G5 MIX) is pretty cool too, I haven't actually played Gradius II but the soundbit is pretty neat regardless
Also the right before the stops on both MAX 300 and MAXX Unlimited, it feels like kind of "actiony" in a way

I really like how Amalgamation flows right Unbelievable (Sparky Remix) when you play them back to back. It drops for a moment, then revs back up and then suddenly the song now has vocals. It's one of the most satisfying happy coincidences I've discovered. I think it's my kind of "peanut butter on my chocolate" type of moment.

I absolutely agree. I always preferred the original over the MOMO/NONSTOP MEGAMIX version.
I’m probably alone on this one but I’ve always, and still do have a deep fondness for the CLUB VERSiON installments. While I’ve never had the chance to play on the official cabinets of them or play the CS versions, DDR EXTREME was my introduction to those games and their song lists through the revivals, as well as making me aware of what the music was like in early beatmania/IIDX games (which I still thoroughly enjoy). KONAMIX and MAX US CS continued the introduction, then I found out about Stepmania and got to experience all of the songs. Sure, the stepcharts weren’t anything special, but I remember how unique the collection of music was to me; various interpretations on familiar genres with sounds that were unknown to me at the time...plus the classic 20,November. I felt like the CLUB VERSiON setup helped inspire the trend of BEMANI crossovers into DDR. Considering how they were the first installments to feature a link system with another BEMANI series, the wide range of genres for a DDR game (at the time), and the way they stand out against other songs in DDR games that they were revived in (not to mention the exclusivity of certain songs put on non-JP releases), CLUB VERSiON 1 & 2 have this “hidden, experimental gem” aspect and charm to me, and it’s something I really appreciate.

I don't know if it's too generic or boring, but I really love that "Somebody Scream!" part in Fire Fire and Second Heaven.

I love when DDR uses groovy hip hop samples. I know someone already mention Wonderland, but I really really enjoy that song's sound.

I remember when X3 was announced some people mentioned the idea of X3 being able to connect with IIDX Lincle since their themes were kind of similar. Though that never happened, I'd still like to see a Club Version game, having a DJ and a Dancer play together was a really neat idea (not to mention the big amount of songs that the game had)Post #53 · Posted at 2018-09-06 05:00:04pm 7 years ago

Is it just me who is still mad about the fact that DDR no longer uses banners at their song select menus? I know I know I'm still pretty conservative about that part, but even still, some of the jackets they use now instead, don't even have the relevant content in them (title and artist for example).

I will never not love Richard Nixon making an appearance in Electro Tuned (the SubS mix).Post #56 · Posted at 2018-09-07 08:24:13pm 7 years ago

"touch n go ride the flow" |
I know I'm super late, but a DDR game would go HORRIBLY on the Switch. How would you even hook up two pads to the thing anyways? Wireless pads would be expensive, complicated, and wouldn't be accurate enough to work for a rhythm game.

Even so, we know that it wouldn't sell very well nowadays, especially with Just Dance out there.

SN2 was my first DDR and I remember just starting to pass 8s and wondering why PARANOiA ~Hades~ was so much harder than the others.
