I think if we see a 20 or another 19 even, it will have some gimmicks but won't be dominated by them. Valkyrie dimension, endymion, paranoia revolution, and to some extent egoism all have moderate gimmicks that fit with the song (and before anyone rails on VDO, the problem is the chart, not the gimmicks ) The only 19 with crazy gimmicks is over the period, and hopefully we never get something like that again

And yes, I stand corrected on Ace for Aces ESP. Especially since I'm one of those people that count all Encore Extra Stage songs as boss songs.

Seeing the full Ace for Aces ESP as an EES will take quite a bit of time, unfortunately.

I can rail on VDO bc even if the 480BPM part makes sense to the music it still makes for an ass reading time for the rest of the chart.

And you're far more faithful in the quality of a future 20 than I am.

Yeah, that's because of the chart not the gimmicks though. I have no faith in the quality of a future 20, they'll probably just mash a much crap into it as they can and call it a 20.

I mean I think I can blame the gimmick when the chart would be perfectly readable if you removed the gimmick by cutting that section's BPM in half.

Let's pray you're right about the lack of gimmicks in a future 20.

Here are just a couple of examples of what I believe a future 20 would look like, if it were to exist at all. Even WITH gimmicks, I feel like a chart maker would have to add a bunch of cheap garbage to even reasonably surpass the 19s in terms of difficulty.

Well Neutrino is better stepped than Quickening, and i believe the song which will has 20 : will be sense. Valkyrie Dimension has good except in part 0:36 - 0:40 in my opinion.

Really? I find the ending to be the truly obnoxious part of that chart. There's a random jump stuck in the middle of Afronova runs (sometimes referred to as scoobies). I'm still not sure if it was intentional or simply an error that never got fixed (if they got rid of that down arrow on the jump, the ending at least makes sense pattern-wise). Even without it, it's clear that this chart was made purely to be harder than anything else, and not because the song called for such a stepchart. 0:36 would be sensible if it could be read comfortably. Valkyrie dimension is not the worst chart in DDR, but it is still noticeably flawed. The D- is actually more respectable.

I have a question for anyone that's played a lot of DDR A: What does the red clear lamp mean? Originally I thought it meant that you got one miss, but it seems that that just gives you a yellow clear lamp.

A red clear lamp means you cleared a chart on LIFE4 but did not full combo it yet.

Huh, that's interesting. It makes sense since I almost always play on LIFE4 except on 15+ charts. It's strange that there isn't a slightly different clear lamp shade for FC/PFC with LIFE4 on, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Basically, the logic is that if you can FC a chart, you can clear it on any dance gauge.
