"TAKING IT TO THE PIE" |

Consider this:
My cousin has AA'ed 7 footers (mostly just Kind Lady to get Extra Stage), but she can't pass a lot of 8's and can only do one or two 9's. I don't have any AA's, but I've FC'ed plenty of 8's and A'ed some 9's. She has better PA, but I have better foot speed, a better sense of how chaotic rhythms work and can clear harder songs.
So are her AA's the deciding factor to say she's skilled and I'm not?
PA and foot speed are independent factors, IMO.

The thing is, I've met a lot of players who can complete several 10 footers because of their ability to quickly hit steps. They do it so quick that when a complicated part in say, Max 300, comes up, they fudge it up enough to keep their life bar up. They've used this in matches against. However, on any other level of songs, I completely destroy them. Being able to step quickly while keeping time and turning are all factors in keeping score. I would still say your friend has better skill than you, just like I think I'm better than someone who can pass all the 10 footers but not AA anything because I've nailed over 400 AA's and can't pass Paranoia Hades.
But please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you're a bad player in any way. This is all based on my judgment of skill, your idea of skill may be different. I try to base my skill off of "over all ability to play DDR and all it's modes" which includes courses, doubles, with mods, without mods, mods that make the game harder, PA, turning, spinning, etc, etc.

Oh dear, DDR skill is opinion based, there's no official indicator of it. Just leave it at that and get back on topic.

For gods sake guys if you'd have put "Judging by that statement I reckon you're a less experienced player" instead then we wouldn't have this argument.
Also stating someone is less experienced typically means that one is calling themself a better player.
OKAY I've said my part, back to discussing more 4 panel dance games.

As far as upgrade kits, I don't think Konami has ever released a DDR that didn't have upgrade kits .
Depends if you count Dancing Stage as part of the DDR franchise. Dancing Stage EuroMIX was cab only, as was EuroMIX 2. Dancing Stage Fusion had no upgrade kit from older cabs (hence why they are all in the dayglo coloured cabs). Dancing Stage SuperNOVA had no upgrade kit in the EU, either (again, hence why they are all in the red cabs).
I'm also unsure as to whether 3rdMIX had an upgrade kit (i.e. 2ndMIX->3rdMIX) - surely Tyma would know that one :] The fact that the marquees are silkscreened (and since I've never seen a 3rdMIX upgrade kit manual, nor an upgrade security cassette) suggests it probably didn't... certainly the Asian and Korean flavours of 3rdMIX did not have an upgrade kit.
All I can say is, if you are waiting for upgrade kits for X, I'd suggest you import one from Japan. The US/EU don't do diddly without the say-so from Konami of Japan, and in January at ATEI the EU branch stated *categorically* that there were presently no plans for upgrade kits there (though that doesn't rule out the US, it sounds like they are trying to pimp the new cabs). Things may have changed in the past 5 months, but I for one will not hold my breath waiting.

Cardiff? Is this the one I'm thinking of?
Yes, the one in Wales. That'd be the home of Electrocoin. Didn't realise they were making the US ones, too. I don't know why people are quite so surprised that the cabs are el cheapo in terms of build - it was confirmed at the start of the year that they weren't going to be the Japanese cabs, and previous form has not been good for cabs built in the US/EU (hi DDR SuperNOVA, hi Dancing Stage Fusion). Konami have been flipping us all the bird for a few years now (like taunting us with promises of IIDX and GFDM, and then refusing to ship any to people who actually wanted to buy them).

*waits for UK posters to fume at the price tag*
Liberty games sell overpriced cabs to the home market. No arcade would buy from them. This also doesn't mean Konami are shipping yet, it's not uncommon for distributors to advertise stuff before release and claim they are available "now."

'Tis news to me, but I must admit I've stopped paying attention on all things DDRX related (and Tyma typically knows his stuff and is better informed on stuff Bemani-related than I'll ever be).
If it's using Guitar Hero *parts* (screen, marquee, speakers), it may suggest those bits are being made here, though - even if the remainder of the cab is made and assembled in the US by Betson themselves. That'd make more sense than building the actual cabs here then shipping 'em over, I guess.
In other words: I've no idea

Just import the dedicab from Japan then
it's very simple right?
1st quality guarantee...
Or it's not allowed by Konami?

Not allowed by KONAMI as they explicitly state in-game, for Japan only.

Most Asian countries still doesn't have the new machine of X.
Most Xs in Asia are just upgraded machines.
Nevertheless, I still feel pity for you guys not getting a good quality arcade DDR X Machine.

Maybe because the new dedicab (Japan) is very expensive (it's about $24000 if I'm not mistaken)
but making it to $10000 by being produced by Betson IS Very Stupid!!
I was surprised back then when I saw the $10000 price for X Dedicab (US)
it's not even half of the Japanese version
with that money we better build our own Stepmania arcade machine with 1st quality

@Daiz: I remembered that most of our Supernova 2 Machine states that it's for sale and use in JAPAN only.
But most DDR Xs in our country now says for sale and use in ASIA, AUSTRALIA, and NEW ZEALAND only.

Yeah, but that wasn't getting them directly from KONAMI.

Only if Japan operators were getting rid of DDR X that would happen. I don't see them getting rid of something they've invested a lot of money into just quite yet.

When I first saw the "old" new cabinets, the original design. I figured if done well, Konami were aiming on trying to get close to the quality of In The Groove 2 Dedicated Cabinets. The new "actual" cabinets look like they're trying to mimic those godawful bootleg machines with homepads.
Good call
Good call

"Charlie isn't real" |
We got info from this guy over at the DDR Online Community (his s/n is mathiasddr, full name Mark Mathius) that he just ordered a DDR X AC and it should arrive at this one arcade in Corpus Christi, TX sometime this weekend. He will provide pictures and video of the arcade machine so that we can get a clear picture of just how the machine looks like and works...
