Getting hype over how unfun and bullshit a chart will be sounds like the most ass backwards thing ever. The stepmania community has been doing it for over a decade, I don't see why it makes it so special if konami does it.

I think the hype comes from the difficulty. After all whoever tries to complete something hard will make some people gather around him to watch. It has its fashion.

So yeah, probably everyone want a 20 so that they can see someone complete that thing and just awe at their ability. It happened back when MAX 300 was the hardest song to pass and when ITG charts came and even with the original Paranoia I think. I don't really see a different reason

The only reason I want to see a 20 is so that we can see how Konami actually pulls it off. I honestly believe that they will have to add the 48th notes at the beginning, add 12th or 16th clusters at 400+ bpm (which we might be expecting), step-jumps, and some other ridiculous patterns taken from VD and PR.

Also, they increased the scale from 1-10 to 1-20 and we've only seen 19s (which yes, are very crappy and cheap charts), but can you really say that you don't want to see what the ungodly 20-footer OT"P" will look like?

I know we haven't heard all of the song yet. But in the song Paranoia Revolution, there are plenty of fast rhythms at the very start. Valkyrie Dimension also has fast rhythms after 30 seconds or so. 40 seconds into OT"P" and there are hardly any audible fast rhythms. It is hard to be sure though because we don't have a line out.

Anyway, in order for OT"P" to be a 20, the chart would have to be flooded with 16th steps after the stop. Then there would have to be some crazy speedup with super fast streams or something like that. But it is possible.

I could scour the forum for it, but I'm going to say what I've been saying ever since the X-scale was introduced:

The first 20-footer will be a marathon-type song (somewhere around 3 to 4 minutes long). Trying to make a 20-footer in under 2 minutes would just be a complete clusterfuck of arrows, unless that's what you guys want it to be.

That's probably what it is going to end up being. I'm not looking for a GOOD stepchart at all, I just want to see what they could possibly do in 2 minutes to make a 20-footer.

Disclaimer: I think that Paranoia Revolution is a great chart. While it is definitely a cluster, most of the patterns are realistic. Watching FEFEMZ play it really made me appreciate it more. Valkyrie DImension , in my opinion, wouldn't be too bad without the random arrow stream in the speedup.

That being said, there are very few songs in DDR that I could imagine being a 20 and still aligning with the music. The only song I could imagine doing it well would be GAIA.

250bpm song with lots of streams. Or, in Bemani's case, fuckton of dumb crossovers, maybe a couple fooswitches, and jumps/ambiguous double steps everywhere.

Well that take a lot of pressure off. I'm going to play now and I'll try the beginner chart to try and make it to the inevitable 400 bpm speed up. With a beginner chart, it is conceivable to read on 1.75 and get through it all. Anyways, I could talk about what ifs all day but I think it is better to go out and just try it.

I tried Max. Difficult and it just was just too hard playing on Wave without knowing that chart.

I almost left the arcade early, I was feeling like shit today but I decided to try the basic chart anyways before leaving.

I surprised myself by beating the record by quite a bit.

I plan to start using an audio line out next time I play so hopefully someone could make a partial sim file with it assuming I make it this far again.

I will keep doing what I've been doing. Rewatch my video to the part I failed and learn how to pass it on my next attempt. I don't know how I've managed to do it this long but if my luck holds out, we'll see the 400 BPM section soon enough. At least the current gimmick is easy to learn and clear. I'm just afraid the next few freezes will follow suit. I better just keep on tempo and hit all 4 arrows next time.

Well there are some 16ths in the song now, so now I don't know what to expect in the harder charts.

Want a first 20 footer in history? Easy. Re rate Para Revo CDP from 19 to 20. Since it looks & feel like a 20 to me all along. And do note that no one managed to AA it yet.
