So those three preview songs on DDR 2016 weren't a 'preview' of what is to come from this game?

I think Konami has built a system now where they don't really need location tests anymore, they just give out preview songs and just update the game via online updates and just release it once it's ready, and when it isn't ready they just release patches to fix it up.

LIKE MOST MODERN CONSOLE GAMES.

3 select songs out of who knows how many new is not a proper preview of what's to come, no.
Just silly that every other title gets a location test so we know what we're getting into and to provide feedback and whatnot, and this just gets three songs put in DDR 201X and then the game is out. Odd that this is suddenly the path they're planning on taking.

I got a feeling the list of artists we got earlier will be the starting songlist, So 8-12 songs to start out? It beats the TWO DDR 2014 stared out with. If there is only 8-12 or so songs to start out, then there's really no point of doing a location test as a tease. It kind of makes things more exciting because there's more of an unknown factor to it.

take it like a IIDX release... you dont know what it is but when copula was announced we only got 2 songs ... then it was released and BAM good songlist

They don't need to location test the 20th-odd IIDX either. IIDX location tests are basically just a long line of fans, all paying 300 Yen for 2 songs. It ain't about the feedback, it's about showing that the game still has that following. It's not like the operators have to choose to buy these upgrades anymore!

Now in Japan where DDR is probably the 7th most popular Bemani, meh. Software only. They didn't location test DDR 2014 either. (Or Volzza 2, or lots of things.)

In the United States though we could use a location test. Both for the traditional reason (to actually test one installation of the game) and for the IIDX reason.

Im glad they are releasing it soon, I could care less about hype.

We already had one a while ago with one Round 1 location and a Dave & Buster's location.

Now that it will be officially released in the US, we don't need another one anymore because...it will be officially released lol.

Both excited and hesitant about the release. Can't really pick a feeling when everything but the UI and a few songs are speculation... and I already griped about the UI.

But everything will be revealed in a few days aaahhhhhh

So then... not sure how Japanese arcades keep up to date, but are there locations that already have the cabinets and stuff? Even though the public didn't get a release date until now? Is it possible this is purely a big update to the existing cabinets rather than a new game itself?

I kind of expected it after the instant drop of Volzza 2. We've seen enough, it's an arcade game. How do you hype up an arcade game outside of location tests?

I just hope the east coast gets one of these cabinets with a full English translation, because I'd totally know what's going on right now if I could read the Japanese alphabet

I'm kinda shocked too with how quick of a turnaround this game got from announcement to release with no location tests or communication until last min.

I'm still worried if red machines will will receive the update and if they do, if it will be delayed.

With that said, assuming my arcade does get the update tomorrow, I'll be streaming and uploading line outs all day until I can no longer move my body. I'm going to talk to the arcade owners today to see if they can confirm if the update is coming or not.

This should be good news. I talked to the arcade manager at my arcade today. At first they weren't sure, but then they made some calls and confirmed that their Jubeats and DDR machine are getting an update tomorrow morning around 9am.

The file seems to be big and can take up to an hour to download and install. As soon as it does finish, I will be playing nonstop while streaming trying to get as many line outs as possible. I'll post in the streaming thread when I go live.

I'm hyped.

Was there any prerelease information on who's on staff for this one? I'm kinda feeling there has been a big change considering they're revamping the game almost completely from what they've shown us.

Bump: According to bemanistyle, Dave & Busters will be getting DDR A. No further source though.

OK let's just hope that annoying DDR X announcer is gone though...I mean we're DYING to have a new announcer...I hope the new one would be either in English or Japanese...But who knows!
