That sounds about right, as other than the 4MB audio file size prior to Extreme US that's about how it's been since PS2. You could remove the disc on those games and the music and chart would still play. I think it was starting with Extreme though that doing that would stop the movies.

I'm actually kinda surprised that nobody's tried to take Pop N's DLC and figure out how they've handled it there.

Konami's to blame here, not Nintendo. Interesting that they're encrypted as "DDRHP4"....
lol then why couldn't they just call it Hottest Party 4Laughing Hard I know they're rebooting the series, but some people may be confused with the chronology of the games as already said previously. It would also make it feel more consistent.
Then again this game has been breaking quite a few DDR constants, so what the hey. The only constant-breaking aspect that slightly annoys me is the Goods not breaking combo.

On a brighter note, the mode that uses the motion plus look quite interesting. So much that I actually decided to pick up my copy of Hottest Party and play with hand markers on.

I'm actually flip-flopping on whether I should get this. The music selection overall doesn't really appeal to me, but some notable songs I found really nice were Seasons and Private Eye.

Exactly! They should've just stuck with Hottest Party 4. Anyway, I'm over that now.

Choreograph Mode doesn't use Wii Motion Plus. It doesn't need it anyway. Oh, and HP's hand markers aren't as good as HP2's. Now, those were great.

I've just noticed something with Crazy Love. The PS3 and the Wii chart are different in step placement toward the end. WTF is with that?

Is there a video of the Wii chart?

I got one up, but it's not the greatest video demonstration of it in the world in terms of how I placed the camera in it. Anyone familiar with the PS3 chart will still notice it though. The most obvious difference is that there no shuffle at the end on the Wii chart. I thought someone had the chart on shuffle in the PS3 videos at first until I noticed that the rest of the steps were identical on further views.

AFAIK New York Evolved is exactly the same though.

Speaking of that song, I have managed an A on ver.C with the pad. Parts that I thought were gonna be dumb weren't so bad, but parts that I thought wouldn't be too bad were harder than I initially thought they were. And the speedup still gets me on it too. Gonna have put some more time into it.

edit: Fully unlocked save file going up shortly. You may or may not want to delete the scores though.

edit no. 4: Fuck Konami, I see why Domi got cut now. All the other Wii DDR titles are rated E-10. Booty shorts wouldn't fit in on a rated E title. Why the sudden need for this game to be rated E?

Some more videos going up, but part of me is almost reluctant to post A Geisha's Dream (ruffage remix) again. It might give Konami the wrong impression.

Nice job with Crazy Love. those jumps look like murder in some places, but then again... there's always SILVER DREAM...

It's like I mentioned, those jumps with awkward steps in between are really the only blaring issue with it. It's artificial difficulty. But seriously though, when are they gonna finally chart another speedy jun song like that in the 8 and 9 spectrum again? I miss charts like True Love and Sweet Sweet Love Magic.

In fact, I'm almost tempted to go into Edit mode on Extreme 2 and turn the latter into a HP jun 10 just for kicks.

I'll have to redo Until The End another time because for some dumb reason it got deleted on the transfer. Then again, it works out as it was saved "Until The End".

Aside from courses, and the 10s I've pretty much uploaded all I'm gonna do for foot charts. If there's anything anyone in particular wants to see just give me a shout and I'll see what I can do.

As for the game itself, the charts are still fun enough to play to where this isn't going to just die on me like HP3 began to do at this point. That, and the other two modes are actually pretty damn difficult this year, though admittedly it might be time to invest in a wireless nunchuck.

Oh, and for anyone who wants it, the fully unlocked savefile for this game is up over at Gamefaqs now. You're welcome.

One more thing, this game's hard course is Thunderstorm. It consists of the following

Double Tornard
Seasons
Curry Up
Until The End
Crazy Love
New York Evolved

Interesting course it is. What will you do? Do you use your speed mods and risk getting New York Evolved ver. A? Or do you turn them off at the expense of being able to read Crazy Love? On paper, this doesn't look that bad until you figure that into the equation. I've given this a try, and ended up rolling snake eyes with New York Evolved. Needless to say, I failed it at the 380 section.

Oh, and I can already see why you're talking about a Wireless Nunchuk. ;)

@darknight: Lol, why do you always get the worst possible version of the Evolved song in courses? There's osaka Ver.C in HP2, roppongi ver. C in HP3, and now NY Type A. Confused

According to VGChartz (Which is questionable, I know), the Wii installment sold an impressive 23,000 copes in its first week. That is very good, considering that Hottest Party 3 took 6 weeks to reach such a number, and had a more impressive license list.

23,000 x 69.99 per bundle, right? With my trusty calculator, that means they made a pretty nifty $1, 609, 770 on the first week..

Scratch that, saw the actual price. At 79.90 each? D8 Ouch. $1, 837, 700.

I fail at math forever, even with a calculator! OTL Are any of my two calculations up there correct? How far off am I? Or have they seriously made over a million dollars selling 23,000 on the first week? Either way, it must be quite a healthy sum. We are sure to see Hottest Party 5 next year, too!

Well, how could Danca's, Forte's, Pia's, Gliss's, and Sharps outfits be offensive then? ;A; If that is truly why Domi was cut.
But hey, hey, doesn't Ceja wear daisy dukes, too? And Harmony, as usual? AND Dyna?

But if they were going for the E rating specifically...uhm, to get a younger audience in? D8; But I really don't see a difference between E and E+10...

I think it's because I got too many AAAs on both this year's release and HP3. It sees PFC no. 46 and even though there is no Nintendo WFC logo on the box, it's secretly sending encrypted code to Konami so that they know to screw me over whenever I try a course like that. I mean, as far as they were concerned I WASN'T supposed to get A Geisha's Dream (ruffage remix).

They were cut for different reasons probably. Those reasons, I don't know.

As for the female outfits, none of those was Domi short though. Domi's design was a modified version of Jenny, and people did more than enough talking about Jenny on the PS2 titles for the longest time. A full bodied Domi would've meant she would look closer to Jenny unless they rated E'd her which I doubt they felt like doing, so she got cut. Besides, looks wise I don't think she was completely cut. Even if she looks a bit younger, it looks like the basic premise of her went over to Dance Masters.

As for why Gaku and Danca got cut. Danca because I've noticed a lot of people didn't like his design, as he was very much the odd man out, and Gaku, I have no earthly idea to be honest with you.

Keep in mind retailers get a cut of that, not to mention the packaging and shipping costs and such. They really don't make as much from that as you'd think.

I totally forgot about Gaku..... XD
I only read of one person online actually liking Danca, that's about it. Not surprised he was removed if that was the reason.

Anyway, LOVING choreography mode as I thought I would. Already AA'd Battlefield on Expert. Love that routine. Did a couple vids and will continue to do over the weeks.

You can forget about whatever requests I had, but if anyone wants to see anything specific with Choreography, let me know. Also, I plan to test out the new Family mode. I have a good feeling about its structure.

I take it you're requesting an Expert attempt since you already have a vid of it on Difficult? Or what?

"Well."
I see about Domi. And it's a shame about Danca. ;A; I thought he was adorable.

Ooh, yeah, I forgot about that. OTL That retailers get a percentage. I won't try to figure out how much they made, then, eheh...

And now, I'm wonder how the Japanese version of HP4 will be like. D: Will they axe the US licenses and go with all-Japanese ones again? Will we see an insanely hard chart like William Tell Overture? Will the difficulty increase significantly between the two? Ah, I'm getting ahead of myself. But MUSIC FIT came out in Jan. 2010. Maybe it can come out early this year too!

I've played almost all the Choreography charts now (mind you, haven't unlocked all the songs yet but I think I'm getting close). I played a good number for the first time today and some of them were really fun. Double Tornard comes to mind - it's even more fun than I originally thought. Big Grin

Honestly, I've barely played any foot charts because I'm so addicted to this mode. Can hardly pull myself away from it.

Oh, and I can't get over The Island Song... But not in a good way.
Also: Wicked Plastik reminds me of one of the nc songs that was included in Konami's Wii game, Walk It Out.

edit:
Uploading some vids now. Smile
Many more to come next week.

Yeah, The Island Song is just yikes. It's almost like TAG had to compose that at gunpoint.

Hopefully I'll be back into the game sometime sooner or later so I can get back into Choreography mode. Especially with this game nearly AAd entirely. Only thing really left is New York Evolved. If I AA any of them, I got a feeling it'll be ver. B first followed by C and then A. I still have to get certain sections of A down, not to mention get better at reading the first half at 1x.
