Here's my guesses on unlocks, based on the current schedule:
5/14: Queen-Zukin Accessory #1.
5/21: Hidden Song + Boss song (for normal play).

(not restricted to Expert)
Getting AA on any Xmix will do.
MAX MAX 300(X-Special)
Play at least one DDRMAX song on Expert before final stage , get AA.
At final stage , get AA at the Final Stage Only song (On the break) on Expert with the options REVERSE x1.5 (other options are free to change).
MAX2 MAXX UNLIMITED(X-Special)
Play at least one CHALLENGE only song before final stage , get AA.
Final stage AA On the break or a song got by random. (not restricted to Expert)
EXT The legend of MAX(X-Special)
Before final stage , play with this order and getting all AA:
MAX 300(EXPERT)→MAXX UNLIMITED(EXPERT)→Sakura(EXPERT)→The Legend of MAX(EXPERT)→PARANOiA Survivor MAX(CHALLANGE)
So if the machine is set to 3 stages max , then you need to play MAX 300(EXPERT)→MAXX UNLIMITED(EXPERT)→final stage
At final stage , AA On the break Expert or a song got by random on Expert , done.
Alternatively , playing Xmix can reduce the no. of songs needed in the order:
e.g. if the machine is set to 3 stages max , then you need to play MAX 300(EXPERT)→any Xmix on Expert
Getting AA at the Xmix will also unlocks the X-Special.

Not necessarily, SMiLE.dk was a Dancemania license and they are still making repeated appearances in DDR games.

Konami struck a deal with Dancemania because it was cheaper that way. Now that the series obviously has a lot more money they can go after specific artists and sign deals with them directly if they think it'll bring more money to the series; Smile.dk, etc...

Dancemania doesn't have as much clout anymore anyway. Back then, they were releasing albums constantly, a huge library of music for KONAMI's picking. These days, Dancemania is pretty dead. Probably just as well KONAMI go after stand-alone licenses, or, even better, strike a hot deal with avex (and SM Entertainment for our KPop needs!) so we can get some songs from ravex, m-flo, BoA...

A deal with Ultra or Ministry of Sound would be awesome, especially if Konami decides to go all out with the House Nation license in Japan. That way, they could easily license songs across all territories.

Eh, but why? Dancemania isn't the hot series it used to be; sure there's a lot of great music left untapped, but the same and more can be said of other labels. Besides, a partnership with say, avex, would provide a lot of extremely popular, current music I'd love to hear on DDR. Plus, SHANADOO is on avex, forgot to mention them up there.
Dancemania made amazing megamixes, though, I'll give them that. DJ Mass's wasn't that bad though.
