I guess one of things is that DDR is inherently harder to chart simply because in IIDX even if the whole thing is quad mashes, fingers can easily do that, so you can't really make a chart complete BS because fingers don't need to crossover in the same way that feet do (also, you have more fingers than feet). I honestly think they probably put just as little effort into other rhythm game charts, it's just that charts like that actually work like that (especially IIDX).

Remember that back in the day, "karaoke steps" were seen as something to be avoided (bc nobody could pass MAX300 or whatever the fuck). Nowadays though, with significantly increased skill amongst the top players I don't see the point of making charts that don't go to the music.

And also, this excuse does not excuse ghost notes (and to the one who said Paranoia doesn't justify more than a 10 on the X-scale, what? That could EASILY be made a 15 or 16 without any crossovers, and this is ignoring the 32nd drum rolls)

And US didn't get another song again. Oh well.

This almost went under the radar for me if I hadn't been browsing Twitter less than an hour before it was supposed to drop. Even if I had missed it I probably wouldn't have cared.

The Philippines has six BRAND NEW DDR A CABS! Quantum, our local arcade, seems to be in a roll. In fact, we even have two GITADORA DRUM MANIAs now.

Does anybody know why only American cabinets get the DDR A marquee? From the picturess I’ve seen, all the other regions have a DDR 2013 marquee.

we never got 2013 cabs, thus no cabs in the us have a 2013 marquees.
also, i think the marquee can't be switched out, so other regions still have the 2013 marquee,
and konami stopped selling new cabs to replace older ones, since DDR gets their updates through online ones (unless if a machine breaks)

No BEMANI game has ever needed a completely new cabinet to replace an older version (that I can think of anyway). Upgrade kits have been available for new versions of the games, but for the most part those have gone away with online updates (IIDX was the last holdout on this, copula had an upgrade kit, but SINOBUZ was an online update). Also, the marquees can easily be switched out, at least on older cabinets. Don't know why the white ones would be an exception. The arcade just needs to unscrew the panel in front of the marquee, change it out, then screw it back in.

Judging from pictures posted earlier in this thread, all Asian cabinets, even ones made recently, have the 2013 marquee. My thought on the American cabinets having a unique one is similar to my thoughts on why we're not getting new licenses...U version is not on the (confusingly named, given the back and forth earlier) eAmusement participation system, so may have upgrade kits for the next release, whenever that is.

DDRCommunity's Difficulty Tier Lists have been updated yet again. This time, a list of Doubles 13 and 14 charts have been added, but they are not sorted by difficulty yet. If anyone wants to help out, please leave a contact and David Lee (@ninevoltbattery) and I will try to reach out.

Is there anything you'd consider changing/updating to make it more accurate?

I believe you should have timing/scoring difficulty as well as passing difficulty on that list. Some people are better at timing rather than having physical endurance/agility (me) so it would be nice to see which songs are more physically demanding alongside which ones are more rhythmically demanding.

Or I'll just use the list Quickman sent. Tongue

I agree with the above. Shakunetsu BSB is ranked lower than MAX 300, but somehow I can only clear the latter.

Sorry if that was rude. I'll try to elaborate on that.

Some song are awfully placed.

For example: Out of focus expert (15) is waaaaays easier (in terms of timing and difficulty) than Brilliant 2U AKBK Mix, Horatio, Beach Side Bunny, Another Phase, Flower oni, Xepher Oni, Roppongi Evolved A and B, Chronos Oni, Super Samurai. And OoF is rated higher than these songs on that list. Damn, the list says that even The Legend of Max is easier than Out of Focus... lol

And that's just one little example of the bad design of the list

I think Out of Focus should be in the 15.0 or maybe 15.1 category, that song barely fits in the 15 rating after all.

Few suggestions on Double Play 15 out of what I tried (I'm not the least bit any good at playing this level, so take whatever I suggest with a grain of salt) Tongue

ZEPHYRANTHES Heavy > ナイト・オブ・ナイツ Heavy and Cleopatrysm Heavy
Sakura Sunrise Heavy > Beautiful Dream Challenge
Windy Fairy Heavy > MAX 300 Heavy and PARANOIA survivor Heavy
MAX 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix) Heavy > バンブーソード・ガール Heavy, JOMANDA Heavy, 冥 Heavy

SILVER☆DREAM Heavy < Anti-Matter Standard, 御千手メディテーション Heavy, Go For The Top Heavy
Chronos Challenge and 放課後ストライド Heavy < The entire tier 3

doesn't look the like the marquees on the white cabs are unscrewable, and are actually built in the to the cab, but then again i never saw the machine in person so Roll Eyes
also, the 2013 marquee is suppose to be a generic marquee so that it can be reused with the newer mixes

Interesting quirk/thing:

Here's the first standalone video of Ace For AcesLight I've found that's also a lineout. If I recall correctly, all songs have audience cheers in predetermined places (to prevent people from splicing together clean audio before the OST's out). But here, you can hear that at least some of the predetermined audience cheers are in different places compared to Standard. This makes me wonder if the cheering places are tied to the chart's skeleton, rather than the whole song. It should also mean that it's possible to get a clip of Ace For Aces with significantly less announcer/audience chatter by splicing together lineouts of Light and Standard.

Wait, really? Does that mean it's hypothetically possible to upgrade a 1stMix cabinet all the way up to DDR 2013 with a long series of upgrade kits and no hardware changes?

I still don't understand this. Why would an arcade agree to purchase eAmusement & always-online connectivity and then refuse to join the eAmusement participation system, which only requires always-online connectivity? (Or why would Konami agree to sell eAmusement to an arcade and not the eAmusement participation system?)

Yeah, considering the hardware upgrades between 5thMix to MAX, Extreme to SuperNOVA, and maybe somewhere between X2 and 2013 (Don't know exactly where, I'm just guessing something happens here), I think you'd have to do more than just software updates to upgrade certain versions of DDR. The only other example I can think of is when IIDX switched to PC based hardware between 8th and 9th Style.

Now you've got me thinking though, I want to see a DDR Club Version cab running DDR X2.
