Removed my files from the category, I think I'm done with the whole simfiling thing. Seems as though I just can't please anybody, let alone myself. Not cut out for these kinds of things. Enjoy the contest. I'm out.

Is this a pun?

Sorry.

Looks like I've lost this round, too. It was a close one Lisek, but you ultimately came out on top. My hat's off to you. I don't wear hats but, well, you know. Smile

Good job, and I look forward to losing the Summer Contest as well!

"Two milkmen go comedy"

Last updated: 2016-05-02 10:40am
People, my reviews are mostly complete, here for you to savor. In light of events such as the Standard Quickening, I have decided to look at each chart individually, and critique them to the best of my ability. However, this has taken me longer than expected, so I have to release them unfinished, with some of questionable quality. If you want a second opinion, please request one in a PM and I will honor it next week. Apologies to those with incomplete (Clap Snap, Cosmos) or missing (Arabian Rave Night, Oceanside Avenue, ENERGIA!) reviews, as you were merely the victims of how I went through the files but I have schoolwork to do, and I have to cut my losses here; if I can, I will finish them next week. Without further ado, here they are:
Chance It- The beginner chart is very smooth, with fitting 3-note jacks, and even some leading into a non-corner jump. I would consider chancing it some more though, and have the ending part contain longer jack streams, to more fully realize a buildup of difficulty.
The basic chart is a similar deal, with quarter note steps logically flowing to the song; the biggest issue I encountered, as far as this goes, would be during measure 23 (as displayed on Stepmania version 3.9), where instead of the expected 2-note jack, there was a 3 note jack, with a reason, if there is one, that I am not aware of. I was a little disappointed, personally, that there was no chance taken with 8th notes, considering that this is a 4-footer. If I were stepping this chart, I would insert some 2-note 8th jacks in place of the freeze arrows during measures 31 and 32, as well as some stand-alone 8th notes during the bridge to the final climactic part.
The standard chart was a very pleasant surprise, with fitting 16th quasi-triplets (?), jump steps, and jacks; however, the first quasi-triplet in the song, as well as similar ones, was a little jarring, and unless there was a greater cue in the music that justified their exclusive placement in the section there, I would personally omit it.
The heavy chart was another very bold surprise, but with greater difficulty comes more areas of potential improvement. I was pleased with most of the streams, and was intrigued with the long 8th streams during the rap part, which followed the instrumentals instead. However, the first thing I would modify would be the freeze jumps such as in measure 17, so that the non-frozen 8th notes would face in a different direction than would the 4th notes; I would additionally consider being a little more conservative on the jumps, especially the continuous 8th note jumps.
The challenge chart, however, defies all expectations and exceeds them with flying colors! The 24th streams were a dream, and the notes flowed very smoothly, the occasional continuous 8th note jumps being much less of a hindrance here.

Element of Spada- For the basic chart, I was expecting more out of from a five-footer. The first part is woefully under stepped, with the note placement missing out on several fitting 4th streams. The second half is a little better, with 8th note streams and continuous 4th jumps, but there is still a little breathing room for a five-footer that for this song, would best be utilized, leaving an easier chart for beginner.
The standard chart has balancing issues which unfortunately are quite prominent; the beginning contains the sort of 8th streams that I was expecting from the basic chart. For a standard chart, this part and the middle was a little too insipid for my tastes, and the one random gallop was indeed one that lacked sense. The continuous gallops that proceeded should have moved around some (sort of like the heavy chart); however, the largest problem in my opinion is that these don't sufficiently lead into the 16th stream and triplet that go on near the final. I would personally make the beginning parts more difficult to make it play like a proper 7 footer, though removing the most complicated 16th parts wouldn't be a bad idea either.
The expert chart is a little more of what I would hope to see, but still has a banal texture to it. To go into a little more detail, I would suggest populating the freeze arrows from measure 8-9 with quarter notes to occupy the other foot and keep the flow moving; after that, you would have been best off repeating the 5-arrow streams leading into the jump that you hinted at after the 3-arrow jump streams. For the freeze arrows, I would at least keep the other foot moving, but preferably I would use this section as an opportunity for some 16th streams; the next section, with a 4th note stream, could be spice up a little with some more 8th notes. The chaotic patterns in measures 46 and 49 are probably not great ideas, and the gallops that go to the vocals have a janky pattern, but the 5-note 16th stream definitely has no place there. Measure 74 also has an 8th note just after the start of the measure that needs to be pulled down an additional 8th. The 32nd note in measure 83 also has no basis, polluting an otherwise decent pattern. In general, my faulty advice for injecting life into it would be to take more advantage of the pristine 170 beats per minute and formulate beautiful 8th streams with a richer repository of complex patterns than what is present here. In addition, the addiction to karaoke stepping was perhaps not the best way to go about stepping a 9-footer heavy, and should have been more populated with more 8th notes (and perhaps jump streams).

Clap Trap- You did the song plenty of justice with the heavy chart, so nothing to complain about here.

Cosmos- The beginner chart had enough variety to make it interesting.
I loved the basic chart though great patterns, and a lovely use of freeze arrows, as well as an emphasized 8th jump.

Crepuscular Rays- Interesting that you actually made the beginner chart very easy, in comparison to other beginner charts. Nevertheless, the chart is still quite interesting, with mines spicing it up a little more, (with that lonely one a little strange).
The basic chart is also pretty easy, but good, with some very nice 8th notes for emphasis.
For the standard chart, measures 26-27 was a little strange, but the rest of the chart was quite nice; I loved how you snuck in that cheeky 12th note section.
As for the heavy chart, I’m not too sure it was the best decision to let the 16th pattern in measure 22 get away with a slap on the wrist (as in the 8th note pattern), but the rest of the chart was pretty good.

Danse De Romani- The beginner chart is great, with a good amount of variety to keep the player waiting for every step.
The basic chart also keeps the beat going for a very fun chart. It would have been interesting to have the final notes be an 8th jack, though.
The standard chart is also restrained, but tasteful in its 8th notes and occasional 16th notes.
The heavy chart takes the standard chart and elevates it a little, especially with the nice footswitch freeze arrows. I feel like this is a little more of a 7 footer/10 X-scale though.
The challenge chart is very good, and there is really nothing harder than this needed for this song.

De EL Mi- So this is your mother? Interesting! I also like how the song has a little bit of a Bollywood taste.
The beginner chart does its job beautifully, and keeps the player on its toes.
The basic chart is also very fun with its great patterns, and nothing to complain about here, though maybe it could use a final 8th note (like the standard chart) for emphasis.
The standard chart has fun patterns throughout, and while the use of 24th notes is strange, it works wonderfully!
While I find it a little unfortunate that the heavy chart is a little conservative with its weirdly quantized notes, I still love some of the 8th streams.
I love how the challenge chart takes the weird quantizations a step further, though I think measures 17-19 should have had looser gallops to go with the vocals.

Dream Position- The basic chart is very nice, with just the right amount of nice and great patterning.
As for the standard chart, almost all of the 16ths made no sense, but there were definitely some good parts to the chart.
The expert chart was pretty fun, though some of the 16th note placements were a little strange (but not nonsensical, as with the standard chart).

Enigma Machine- The beginner chart was good and logical, including the 8th notes.
The basic chart was also good for what it is, though I wished that the gallops in measures 38-42 used the whole body.
The standard charts were pretty nice, and the footswitches in measures 81-83 were interesting, but personally I think that the down arrow jacks leading to the left-right jump should have come before its up arrow counterpart.
The heavy chart was interesting, with nothing really to complain about for what it is.
FIRE FIRE- The beginner chart is nice and laid back, with good variety and a boost from the song’s grooviness.
The basic chart is also pretty good, not much I can say here.
The standard chart had some nice 8th note patterns, especially in the jacks, but I felt that there were some missed opportunities early on in the song to incorporate some 16th notes.
The expert chart wouldn’t be unfitting to call an 8, especially considering some of the other submissions here. Most of the chart is very good, but some of the patterns near the start of the song didn’t quite catch my ear, and the last 8th note was a little strange.
The challenge chart has a better beginning, but I don’t understand the purpose of the 4-note 16ths in measure 12. The rest of the chart was good though, barring the last 8th note.

Gale Rider- I haven’t played Gameboy573’s version of this yet, so my opinion shouldn’t be sullied.
The beginner chart is excellent, with just the right difficulty, leading to a tight and fun chart with no extraneous notes or patterns.
The basic chart is also pretty tight, though I think you generalized with 4th notes a little too much. Also, there is a doublestep in measure 50, which can be fixed by changing the pattern of right-left-right to left-right-left, doing the same for the pattern in measure 52, and changing the next arrow in measure 53 to face right, and I think that measures 53-55 could have used some jumps.
The standard chart has a doublestep in measure 13, which can be fixed by having the 8th notes face right. Also, why you didn’t step the 8th note in measure 23 that came before the 4th note is beyond me. There is another doublestep in measure 48, which can be fixed by changing the direction of the note before the 16th triplet to face up. Other than that, this chart is quite fun to play.
As for the expert chart, measure 23 feels a little too much like a doublestep, so I would change the 4th note after the jump to face down. There are also a bunch of minor doublestep which personally don’t detract from the experience, but may for others, as well as an inexplicable filler 8th note in measure 69.
The challenge chart has a few funky body position switches, and a 16th triplet run I don’t agree with, but otherwise the chart is good.

GASPANIK- Were those F-bombs that I just heard? How naughty!
The beginner chart is a little difficult (probably a 3) with its copious amount of 8th notes, but it’s not too bad. I think how you used the 8th notes in measures 53-64 was preferable to how you used them in measures 25-36.
The basic chart feels similar to the beginner chart, and maybe could have been just a little more difficult, but is still fine, with the exception of the freeze arrows (in measures 42 and 44 that don’t seem to go to anything audible.
The standard chart was pretty good, with a nice use of crossovers to indicate the climaxes of the 16th streams. The freeze arrow problem is unfortunately also here
The heavy chart was also pretty good, though if found it quite strange that instead of ramping up the 16th stream when the music does the same, you just revert to 8th note streams. (Maybe it’s to keep the 8 footer, but still…) Also, the recurring problematic freeze arrows could have been replaced with notes that go to the quiet music.

Le Petit Prince- The stutters were the most beautifully executed ones I have ever seen!
The basic chart was quite nice and relaxing, but I felt like it ended too early.
The standard chart was also pretty nice, with some cool jumps included.
Did I mention how this song makes me feel like a prince in a frog’s body? (I can’t come up with complaints about the heavy chart, apart from the one gimmick that crashes Stepmania 3.9)
Challenge chart fills the rest of the rhythms up beautifully, but there is another gimmick that crashes Stepmania 3.9.

Luvly Merry Go Round- The beginner chart is very easy and welcoming to new players, despite the fast BPM. Nothing to complain about here.
The basic singles chart was okay, but a little boring. The break at measure 21 was a little jarring and should have been replaced with a 3-note jack, and I also felt that there should have been some 8th note usage and more interesting 4th note streams.
The standard singles chart was quite a bit more problematic. For example there was a doublestep in measure 3, which could be avoided one way by changing the final two arrows of the measure into right-up. There was also a doublestep in measure 12, which can be fixed by changing the left-facing 4th note in the middle to face right; one in measure 20, which can be fixed by changing the last two notes of the measure from up-right to right-up; an unnecessary 4th note in the middle of measure 25; a doublestep in measures 30-31, which can be fixed by changing the direction of the two 8th notes; a doublestep in measure 58, which can be fixed by changing the direction of the 8th triplet from right-left-right to left-right-left.
The heavy singles chart is better, but there were two minor doublesteps in measures 18 and 20, and large sections with little movement.
The challenge singles chart was actually very fun with its long 8th streams and logical 16th notes.
The doubles basic chart actually started off better than its singles counterpart, but I felt that it fell into a 2 notes/measure sleep in the second half, forgetting to fully step the merry-go-round in 4th steps, and only half-heartedly waking up in the end.
The doubles standard chart was pretty good, though the footswitch in measure 26 was a little strange, and there was a doublestep in measure 32, which I would avoid by changing measures 33’s first arrow to face up on the player 1 panel, then going (player 2 panel) left freeze-(player 1 panel) right arrow, (player 2 panel) up freeze (player 1 panel) right arrow, then flipping the direction of the 8th triplet between the two panels for good measure. Other than that, I actually like some of the 4th patterns you pulled off in this chart!
Heavy was pretty good, but there was a doublestep in measure 16-17 which I would fix by changing the 8th note pattern between the measures to left-down-up-right-left. For the similar doublestep in measure 20-21, I would change the 8th pattern to left-up-left-right-left. There’s another doublestep in measure 66, so I would change the 8th note pattern to be left-down up (1st panel-2nd panel- 1st panel). Other than that, I actually quite like this chart!
Challenge chart has some nice streams, but there is a doublestep in measure 9, which can be fixed by changing the pattern in measure 9 to be right-left-down-left-right (1st panel- 2nd panel- 1st panel).

Mana- The background image is pretty nice for being a ‘no background’ image.
I felt that the basic chart had some things that I would change. For one thing, I would step to the 8th notes in measures 7-8 fully, instead of having only two 8th notes. Also, there is a noticeable backwards pattern starting at measure 21, which could be fixed one way by changing the down arrow in the measure into a left. I also wish that the 8th notes in the vocals (in measures 24, 32-33, 37, 39, 41, and so on…) were stepped to, considering that this is a 5-footer that isn’t scared of 8th notes. There was also another double step that can be fixed by changing the down-up-down pattern in measures 47-48 to up-down-up. However, I liked the final patterns of the song, especially the spin.
As for the standard chart, I liked the spin that was used early on. However, there was a doublestep in measure 29, which could be fixed by changing the 3 notes after the first notes into a right-down-right pattern, and measure 33 had a great opportunity for 2 8th note gallops that was missed.
The heavy chart had some great patterns, and the double steps in the style of Healing Vision: Angelic Mix were breaths of lustrous air that I haven’t had the luxury of having in the history of my participation in simfile contests. However, this chart really isn’t a 10, so I would rather you not rate this chart as such.

Minna No Uta- The beginner chart has a very logical buildup, with one note/measure leading to two notes/measure. After that, I noticed the simple, but clever use of the freeze note, as well as the two notes/measure streams, this time leading to optional spins. The only slip that I could find was in the refrain, with measures such as 37 only using one note for the measure, instead of two, like the vocals encourage. Other than that, the beginner chart is very fun and light.
The basic chart starts off a little disappointing, with measures 5/7 only having one note, while the complimentary measures 6/8 have a three note jack; fortunately this pattern makes sense in measures 9-12, but the earlier measures would do better to have this pattern reversed. The pattern afterwards was a little strange, but okay; however I was disappointed that the entire chorus played it safe and only had a constant two notes/measure. I was hoping that at some point, there would be a continuous 4th triplet stream. The rest is fine, but I would lengthen the final 3-note jack of this chart leading up to the jump so that it would occupy the whole measure.
Other than a genius spin pattern, I felt that the standard chart was a little safe, and would have favored a full vocal stepping, as well as some jump streams to emphasize some of the 12th-note heavy parts of the song.
The expert chart was a very relaxing chart with moderately safe patterning, similar to a 2nd mix licensed 8-footer (especially those lovely DUB-I-DUB esque jumps). The mine gimmick was quite genius, and I wish that it was imitated for the lower difficulty charts.

Misery Business- The basic chart is okay, but I feel that it’s a little conservatively stepped, and that it should be a 4, rather than a 5. I would have liked to see the jack section expanded into a full 4th note stream.
The standard chart had some pretty fun patterns, but the freeze-induced double steps were a little off-putting.
The heavy chart was actually a lot of fun with the 8th streams and body shifting, and I can’t seem to find anything wrong with it.
Mushi no sumu sho- The beginner chart was well-made, with the 8th notes and 16th jump making sense (except perhaps the first 8th jump). However, I would probably rate it a 2 due to its strange quantization.
The beginner chart was also pretty good, but I would rate it a 4 due to the fair amount of streams and later 8th triplets.
The standard chart was also pretty good, but I don't think the 16th not in measure 39 was too necessary.
The heavy chart was pretty good for what it was also, but I felt that measure 32 should have had notes that went to the vocals, as well as change the 32nd pattern in measure 39 from left-down-up to down-up-right.

Oshama Scramble- The basic chart had some very interesting jump streams, and it was interesting how you completely abstained from freeze arrow usage. You should still have placed the final note that was present in the standard and expert charts, though.
The standard chart was a very fun extrapolation of the basic chart with those jump streams, and I appreciate the one section with 16th notes.
Unfortunately, the heavy chart isn't quite to my liking, though it's still very good. I felt that there was missed chance to insert complex 16th note rhythms at the beginning of the song (considering that this is a 10), and that the section in measures 18-25 was weird in a negative way for not following the more audible bell. However, I still liked some of the jump streams here, and I loved the 12th note section. Maybe the jump streams could be toned down a little to make this a 9.
The challenge chart was interesting, with some of the qualms I had about the heavy chart rectified here.

PARANOiA CLiMAX- The beginner chart was fun and light, there really isn't anything to complain about.
On the other hand, the beginner chart already bothers me by being a four and not having any 8th notes. It isn't terrible for this type of song per se, but this is a remix of PARANOiA, DDR's original iconic boss song; EVERY official singles basic chart of each PARANOiA song, to my knowledge, has included 8th notes, and it really shouldn't have been too difficult to do the same here. I would have loved to have seen some 8th note jacks from measures 64-70, for example. That aside, however, the chart isn't bad; I enjoyed the direction changes and the spin you placed in here.
The standard chart was quite easygoing, with interesting freeze spins. Whatever you were trying to do at measure 40, though, didn't come out well, though.
The expert chart was somewhat simple, but also interesting with its 8 note patterns/fully frozen freezes, like would be expected out of a classical PARANOiA. However, I think this is an 8 after having played it, due mostly to its comparatively low BPM and not having too many long 8th streams.

Photo Shoot- The beginner chart quite nice and very easy to get into. I liked how you had freeze arrows that ended exactly on the 16ths that they were supposed to end on, and how you spent a good amount of time with 1 note/measure patterns before moving on into 2 notes/measure.
Similarly, the basic chart is similarly great, only having the notes that it needs to.
I'm not as huge a fan of the laid-back style in the standard chart, since it creates patterns I feel are a little strange and over generalizing (particularly measures 27-35). However, I definitely liked the fact that you included genuine 16th notes, and the chart still has a beat to it.
The expert chart was pretty interesting for its noticeable use of difficulty buildup.

Ronron e Rairai- More artwork from Nusa? If so, nice!
The beginner chart is very logical and simple, including the one 2 notes/measure stream.
The basic chart has a very nice note layout, and I was shocked (in a positive way) that you included two 8th streams! Personally, I would change the note after the freeze arrow to one that faces right, but this is a very small nitpick, and I don't really have any others.
The standard chart has a noticeable doublestep at measure 12, which could be fixed by changing the right-left pattern after the 16th note to down-right.
This also must be the hardest 8 footer I have seen from you! I like this chart a lot, though I wish the section from measures 43-52 used the final 16th pattern throughout.
The challenge chart had some cool crossover 16th, but I felt that during the middle, many of the 116ths didn't go together.

Sakura Luminance- I noticed in your background that you seem to have decorated those lovely cherry flowers around a night view of the Eifel Tower! Unless this is a similarly styled building in Japan, or a replica, does this mean that the cherry blossom season is notable in France too? If so, that is an awesome piece of trivia you snuck in! Smile
The basic chart has some mild doublestep issues, some of which can complicate matters for beginners who may be tempted to constantly later their feet. The spin that you gradually incorporated, however, was near genius! The first freeze arrow section somehow complemented the song very well, but it also felt off for two individual measures. However, the chart as a whole uses far too many jacks; I would have preferred to see more crossover play. The final section has a very good note layout, but was hindered by having a player who doesn't doublestep face backwards.
The standard chart was fairly easy and smooth, with 8th triplets where it makes sense, and even a nice pattern at the end. However, the freeze arrow section from measures 28-34 didn't make sense in not following the drums. Also, the 4th note section afterwards is another spin that gradually incorporates, but the left arrow at the start of measure 41 leads to either a double step or a long section of facing backwards. The spins from measures 59-67 were pretty nice, but also require doublestepping, which is a little unfortunate.
I could tell that the expert chart definitely stole all the love from the other charts! Measure 31 has a (comparatively) minor doublestep that would have been rectified by changing the offending arrow into any other direction. I would have love to see some 5-arrow crossover in the section starting in measure 19, in addition to the staircase steps, and have a 12th stream in measure 67; furthermore, I feel that the jump in measure 75 is a little bit of a stretch considering the change in position the player has to make in such a short time. However, you exceeded my expectation by incorporating those fantastic gallops and triplets!

Shadows of Our Past- The beginner chart was nice and energetic, though the freeze arrows that end with an arrow facing a different direction may be a tiny bit unorthodox.
I liked the beginning of the beginner chart, but the section from measures 14-28 was perhaps a little stilted, and could have used some 8th notes. Also, measures 49-52 generalized too much with the 8th notes, and the section after that had too many two-direction streams, and could have diverged into more complex patterns for a longer period of time.
The standard chart appears to be what I wanted the basic chart to be, plus a bunch of freeze arrows and a little more. I thought I encountered some double steps, but testing it on the keyboard, I couldn't find them, but they may still be lurking somewhere.
I like that the expert chart is a mostly different beast, but a good one nonetheless. However, the 16th streams in measures 32 and (to a lesser extent,) 45 don't go to anything that is easily audible, and the unmarked footswitch in measure 67 is a little strange.

Shiawase ni Naeru Kakushi Komando ga Arurashii- The beginner chart is a little calm, but has a few relatively interesting patterns.
I really dig the jump steps in the basic chart, and the colored notes are interesting, but the pattern near the end makes you face backwards. To fix this (unless this was intentional), I would change the first two notes of measure 65 from up-down to down-up, as well as change the note before measure 70 to face down.
It's unfortunate that the twister pattern from the end of the basic chart snuck into the standard chart, but otherwise, this chart is good, with more frequent jump steps and some nice use of 8ths and 16ths.
I liked the expert chart too, though there was one section, from measures 17-22, that had gallops that I wished would connect naturally.
The challenge chart was also good, but I was puzzled by the 12th gallops.

Shimmering ZEN Girl-I wished there were some stop gimmicks used in this song, but if they are in an ssc file, that's fine.
This has to be the best beginner chart I have played yet; not too difficult, but keeps you on your toes.
The basic chart is also very fun, with appropriate 8th note patterns.
The standard chart is also very fun, but perhaps I would have liked to seen some 4th spins and/or 12th gallops.
The expert chart is fun overall, with a lot of nice direction changes. The second 12th section was a little weird, but I guess it worked decently enough.
The challenge was also very nice, with nothing to complain about here.

Sweet Devil (colate remix)- Sweet stop gimmicks to go with the vocals!
The basic chart is very generous with the 8th triplets for a 3 footer, but there are significant break periods, so perhaps it isn't too unfitting for this rating. Other than that, the chart is pretty good, with nothing to complain about.
Whoa, what was that jump doing so early in the song! That, accompanied by the fact that there are no other arrows in its proximity, means that this was either an error, or a strange Easter egg! That aside, the chart was very nice and easy, with cool and easy to perform 16th notes with the stops. However, the section after the stops also gives me a similar issue to ohaiiman's standard chart (for Sakura Luminance), with the 4th notes not going to the drum; I think it would have been okay to expand this into a full-on 4th stream. Other than that, I found no issues.
The expert chart is nice enough, though there are a few things I would alter. For one, in measure 8, I would a 16th note in the up direction right after the gallop to form a counter gallop (since that is what I can hear from the song); measures 61 and 65 are similar in that regard. Also around this section, I found far too many 8th streams that alter between two directions, when there could have been more interesting patterns used. Also, before the 16th stream in measure 24, I felt the pattern present was a little half-baked, and would have changed it to include a 16th note facing right after the final 16th note currently in this measure, alter the next two arrow directions to be left-right, and added a freeze (4th) arrow facing up. Other than that, this chart is well balanced, with some nice slight direction changes.
The challenge chart is also nice, but I felt that measure 24 still should have had a freeze arrow inserted. There isn't much for me to say, however, and I especially liked the 8th note jump stream.

The Queen- The beginner chart is really stepped much more like a basic chart, and a difficult one at that (at least a four, maybe a five) especially considering those 4th streams, some leading to jumps, as well as stand-alone 16th notes (and freeze arrows)! On its own merits, though, it's a very good and relaxed chart. Still, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bump each difficulty level up by one, and perhaps create an easier beginner chart.
Like beginner chart (though not as strange), the basic chart is great, but it is unusual to see this chart be so free with the 8th streams/16th notes it has at times.
The standard chart is very fun, and in my opinion, could hold up if it was the heavy chart.
The expert chart's not very difficult for a ten, but I can understand you rating it, given the 16th-note heavy sections.

To Make the End of Battle (Ys II Special Version) - I wonder what makes this version different from the non-Special Version?
The beginner chart had some pattern that were perhaps too difficult for some players who might use this difficulty, though it isn't as jarring as the one of The Queen, since this chart is rated a four, has only 4th notes, and is in a chart with double the BPM.
The basic chart is light and energetic, but I felt that the 8th gallops were a little overused, that you should use different jump steps in measures 69-72 and measures 109-112, and that the final 8th note stream would have better lead to a left-right jump, rather than an up-down jump.
The standard chart, I felt, should have had some more interesting patterns for the 8th streams (such as forward-facing crossovers and staircases), and 2 notes/measure stream during the longer freeze arrow. There was also a terrible doublestep in measure 90, as well as a very minor one in measure 7.
Ah, so here lies the more interesting patterns that were missing from the standard chart! It's still a little repetitive, though, and you should have tried to implement more sideways crossovers, Afronova walks going the other way (good that you had this pattern here, though), as well as other patterns. Also the gallops at the beginning are unnecessary, and the steps between them cause a doublestep; this can be rectified by changing the direction of the last two arrows of measure 10; there is also a very minor doublestep in measure 12, which can be avoided by reversing the directions of the quarter notes. There were some weird freeze arrows in measures 79-80, playing on Stepmania 3.9, but they don't register, so I'll suppose they are gimmicks for a newer version. I would also suggest keeping the body moving during long single freeze arrows, and never creating the sixteenth-note leading directly into a jump, as seen in measure 104, again (unless it's another gimmick I can't see). Finally, I would suggest reversing the freeze arrows in measure 116 to avoid another doublestep.
The challenge chart has a very strong start, but a bothersome doublestep at measure 24, which could be solved by flipping the up-right pattern's direction and rewriting the surrounding pattern to compensate. Also, the 8th gallop freezes and 16th streams are littered with double steps, bogging the chart down quite a lot. Also, the jumping-jacks at measures 110-112 don't seem like a lot of fun.

Tsumi No Batsu- It's a very nice, authentic beginner chart. If I had to say one thing, maybe the notes in the middle of measure 28 and in the middle of measure 30 aren't necessary, since they don't strictly go with the song.
The basic chart was a very nice stream chart, with an interesting jump section that could have been more varied, and a nice spin. I'm impressed that you resisted any temptation to put in 4th notes (which I'm fine with, since there's no great need for it), but the freeze arrow is too short for no apparent reason.
The standard chart was very nice, with easy 8th note patterns and even some quasi-triplets.
The heavy chart was pretty good for the most part, but I really would have liked to see some 8th note streams injected with 16th triplets.

Twinbee's Home Theme- Did the stop shift the quantization by an 8th note?
The beginning of the beginner chart starts out fine, but quickly branches out into a bunch of 8th notes, some of them unnecessary, making this more like a basic chart; one way you could have made this easier would be by having the 8th notes in measures 15-18 be in the same position as their respective freeze arrows.
The basic chart was pretty good, except for some basic double steps.
The standard chart has a pretty good note layout. However, there are still double steps, but most of them are pretty easy to perform, the worst offender being the pattern at the end of measure 28: this can be rectified by changing direction of the first arrow from the right-down-up-right pattern into a left arrow.
I was hopeful that the heavy chart would be significantly better, and you initially managed to restrain yourself from doublestepping, leading to some great direction changes. However, there were still plenty of double steps, and not only easy 4th double steps, but also ones that occurred during the stream with 5-note 16th bursts, which very much hampers the file. Also, using triplets instead of gallops in measures 58-60 didn't make sense to me, and the ending should have used 24th notes to imitate a 12th streams (but pushed down an 8th note), rather than 32nd notes.
The Challenge chart has more of the same problems that face the heavy chart, but nearly all of the double steps I found happen during 8th streams, which is not good.

Violent- In the basic 'Hard' chart, there are some very great patterns that are not too hard, though it puzzles me where there are 16th notes in the 141.8 BPM sections (the second one seeming pointless), but no 8th notes in the 283.6 BPM sections. Also there is a doublestep in measure 26, which can be fixed by altering the 3 4th-note pattern from up-down-right to down-right-up, as well as in measure 35, which can be fixed by altering the pattern of the notes from left-left-up to up-up-right.
As for the Standard 'Literal Garbage. You' chart, it wasn't entirely bad. For one, I enjoyed the free-flowing steps, and also liked the spin you implemented. However, I noticed a very minor doublestep in measure 18 (which can be fixed by making the last note in the measure facing left), a few of similar double steps at the start of the speedup (which reminds me of the challenge chart for MY FIRESmile), and on in measure 50, which can be fixed by making the first note of the measure face right. Also, please don't place mines between the final two arrows, as they are very difficult to avoid, especially on pad. You may want to also tone down the 283.6 BPM 8th streams, considering the heavy chart has similar ones.
The heavy 'I tried.' chart is much more lax with its steps, so I'm confused as to why this got a 12 rating. I noticed a doublestep in measure 10, which could be fixed by making the 8th arrow before the 32nd stream face left. I also don't know what the 8th note streams in the first 283.6 BPM section goes to, since they certainly don't go to the drums. The second one is better, and it's nice to see the mines out of the way for the final jump.

With Me- The beginner chart's 2 arrows/measure stream is actually very fun, with a full-on 4th stream and a good use of the freeze arrows
The basic chart is similarly enjoyable, with a pretty nice 4th stream and one nice use of the 8th notes. I would suggest using 8th notes at the beginning at the beginning, though, as opposed to the 4th freeze arrow.
The standard chart had some great 8th note streams and jack, and I loved how the freeze arrows at the end made you turn your body away from the screen. You shouldn't be afraid to use 16th notes in measures 26-27 and in measures 30-31.
Only greatness was to be found in the expert chart, with its fabulous use of freeze arrows to manipulate the body's direction! The 8th notes in the ending stream confused be a little, though.
This greatness was similarly shared with the challenge chart, with its excellent use of 32nd and 24th notes. I have to wonder what gimmick you used at the end, since they show up as a confusing pile of notes on Stepmania 3.9.

You Carved Your Name- Was that an F-bomb I heard in the song? How naughty! Also, the slowdown, though gradual, was a little too unexpected for me.
The beginner chart started off great, but the freeze arrow in measure 40 was too short (I would extend it by 3 4th notes), and the 4th note in measure 41 (perhaps as well as the one in measure 42), goes to a beat that is nearly inaudible (I would personally remove it).
The basic chart was pretty good, and I appreciate that one 8th note being inserted, but I wanted to see some 3-note jacks to complement the freeze arrows that go to 'heart'/'start'.
The standard chart is pretty good, though I would make measure 24's 'take off like a rocket' into a full 8th stream.
The heavy chart was quite good, and I really like the double steps in the beginning; the 8th note that goes to nothing was a little weird, but it works in keeping the player's balance and flow. I wasn't too much a fan of the freeze arrow with the 8th note patterns in measure 59, though.

Removed my files from the category, I think I'm done with the whole simfiling thing. Seems as though I just can't please anybody, let alone myself. Not cut out for these kinds of things. Enjoy the contest. I'm out.

As much as I respect your decision in no longer making simfiles or participating in these competitions, I'm a bit disappointed in the way you've handled this situation. What I've learned first hand in these comps is that no matter how much you try to make your submissions as good, fun, or playable as possible, you can't please everybody. The same goes for real life.

I don't believe you should have removed your files from the category. All that tells others is that you can't handle taking criticism, as farfetched as it can be, and that you're being spiteful all because of a few individuals being nitpicky or not giving valid arguments as to why your file isn't as good as others.

You're better than this, man...

Apologies, no votes from me this week. I'm down with dengue fever all week and it sucks. I hope I'll recover before Round 2 is over.

Thanks for thirteen points, and the comments too! Truth be told, hearing my rivals' songs made me very nervous, and for the first day of voting, I seriously wondered if I have messed up my song selection.

My main thing isn't the negative criticism. I'm a big boy and I can handle when people have less than stellar things to say. The main thing here is that I just... I just really don't wanna be involved in simfiles anymore. It's just not fun for me anymore. Someone from another forum said something to me a few months back and I'll never forget it; if it's not fun, it's time to move on. So I'm moving on. Removing my simfiles, removing myself from the scene. I just don't want to do it anymore. I've got millions of other things I need to stress out over and I don't need to stress myself out any more over Stepmania. I'm miserable enough.
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie to ya, some of the silly shit being said helped get to me. But really, there's not much I can do about people not wanting to figure out how to do simple patterns properly. And I can't stop them from labeling my content as gimmicky when I feel as though it's as far from the case as you can get. Nothing I can do, nothing I want to do.
The best thing, really, is to just ignore that I ever had involvement here in this tourney. You keep doing you.

Very amazing first round and a ton of very close match ups. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I'm not mad with brunobg24 knocking me out, 一触即発☆禅ガール was a very damn good file. I was just happy to keep it close. It might be for the best since I have final exams coming up. gg.

This is going to be a tough round for me; ddrstepper is quite good.

Telperion vs. tsugaru7reveng, Spork! vs. Lisek, and brunobg24 vs. Loodee look like really great matchups.

Damn, I was so close! Part of me is disappointed, but part of me is also satisfied that I at least put up a good fight and it was close to the very end (damn you, DDRDAIKENKAI! /jk). Good luck to Oni and everyone else! I'll try to do my best to keep with it and vote on future matchups, even though I'm not involved.

I'm not going to lie - I'm super nervous about this round. Lisek is probably going to do some rump-bashing and I expect to feel the full heel within me.

That being said - Disaster-file v.2 is on it's way. May as well go out in style ;)

I think I'm not cut out for such a hyper-conpetitive setting. I enjoy SC's theme challenges and Shuffle's random song selection more than a risk-reward elimination bracket. I'm hyped for SC, and will be taking an interesting approach. My goal will be to take the theme as literally as possible each week, and strive to match the theme best rather than get a bunch of points.

Nintendo Collection continues in a few weeks. More original music coming soon as well.
Not around here too often anymore, but I still play DDR & maimai!
My final contest run was in my signature so I guess I'll keep it here for those who wanna play my last few charts:

I'm not going to lie - I'm super nervous about this round. Lisek is probably going to do some rump-bashing and I expect to feel the full heel within me.

That being said - Disaster-file v.2 is on it's way. May as well go out in style ;)
I have absolutely no idea what song to choose and step. And I really mean it. Your song choices are often amazing and fitting into tastes of Z-i-V people. After seeing yours Round 1 file I honestly have no idea how would I counter you X_X ... and yet I'm filled with DETERMINATION to fight against Telperion... UNNNGGGGHHH.

It was a close one Lisek, but you ultimately came out on top. My hat's off to you. I don't wear hats but, well, you know. Smile

Was a pleasure. Thank you, and better luck next year!

More artwork from Nusa? If so, nice!
Yup. If time allows she tries to make drawings for all of my contest files. Puppy Face

It's the first time I pass to Round 2 after two years trying, I'm very excited Big Grin Round 1 was very though and I was nervous for competing with Pandemonium X, and honestly if I'd had to vote for our bracket, I would've vote for your file.

Also Loodee is a very skilled stepper, so this gonna be hard x.x I'll try my best! Good luck to everyone!

That's the end of round 1. Here's Round 2's match ups.
Gameoson
Aegis
OH COME ON. WHY? HE'S JUST A BOY.

Other matches are looking pretty tight. Some really good people got cut last round so this is getting intense already.
