Given that the logo for DDR A has been set in a background with dark blue colors, and given that the preview songs thus far have more of a rave feeling, I feel that having the UI being set with a bright blue sky is somewhat unfitting (and reminiscent of DDR X). Will the interface's background work based on real time? I hope so.

One thing I noticed from that song select screenshot is that there's no BPM gauge.

Second photo, to the left of the siberite jacket.
I don't think it's been in an actual "gauge" form since DDR X.

Ah. I see it now.
Also, wasn't the BPM display a gauge in X2?

No it was also just numbers.Also, wasn't the BPM display a gauge in X2?
Although the interface is a nice change it does feel a little bit crowded. Also, I'm getting a really big HAPPY SKY feeling from this...
I still love this though don't get me wrong

EDIT: Ninja'd.

Since DDR X2, some songs have video on stage.
Other songs with video on stage are:
* MAX 300 (DDRMAX folder)
* Dance Dance Revolution (X-Special) (DDR X folder)
* RDA folder
* EGOISM 440 and Over the "Period" (RDI folder)
* MAX.(period) (RDI folder)

MAX 300 doesn't have video.

It does since 2014, along with Gamelan de Couple, bag, Graduation and Dance Dance Revolution. Not sure if they're part of the stage, though. I think they're full screen.

Looking it up on youtube, MAX 300 in DDR 2014 does not appear to have any background video. Interestingly, every video I've seen has the same exact background stage (one without the skybox video things.) Do some songs specify which background to always use?
Post #531 · Posted at 2016-03-25 04:17:03am 9.2 years ago
According to remywiki, MAX 300's BG vid was hidden in DDR 2013's data, accessible by hacking. It would play in the background of VANESSA's stage. It got removed in 2014, so... my mistake.
I think that on e-Amusement you can choose which character and stage always appears. It seems a lot of people prefer the blueish one with the gems or whatever. Wow, I'm so descriptive

Part of me says "what if the screen actually WAS touchscreen?" It actually makes some sense, but then kids wouldn't be able to reach and all.

Oh God it all makes sense now.
DDR gets a new interface that's more modern and "adult."
The game is a Dave and Busters/Round 1 exclusive for a few years and the game gets a CERO-D/PEGI-16/ESRB T rating.
DDR finally goes full mainstream for adults.
Kids can't reach the screen and are discouraged from playing.
I don't think I've said anything so far about the interface so far. I actually like it and surprisingly enough, it makes sense that it might go touch enabled with a new cabinet reveal in the near future. The only thing is the price on a touch enabled screen as big as the DDR screen would be way too much and we know how cheap Konami likes to be.

@3x3qui3l: it's already like that in DDR2014, you can either go there to change sort or use the shortcut. plus on 16:9 machines you can use ^+v to close current folder.

After studying the picture close for ten minutes, here's what's up.
The triple-row cover flow is a cross between the old system and new system, designed to make song selection three times as fast instead of scrolling forever to find it.
The second picture is an all-inclusive number difficulty search, where the number on all difficulties is considered. That really takes advantage of the new scroll.
This is absolutely not touch screen, look at the bottom instruction panel.
Double down and double up still change difficulty.
The BPM meter is really thin... I can't read it.
Groove radar is smaller now.
That's all that has changed.

I don't think there is a BPM meter. To the left of the current song selected is a Bpm Number.
I don't think there is a meter in this game.
The only thing i notice different besides the things you pointed is that weird number pad under the groove radar.
And i dont think You can browse the list with up and down cause on the current song its on you only see LEFT AND RIGHT
Up and Down must be something else for folders or select difficulty.
So the bottom reads
<>^v SELECTION [ ] Accept
Just a theory.

I and many other arcade-goers would be completely happy about this.

Yeah, last time I went to the arcade, these two very little kids "played" DDR, totally failed, and only played one song so I got to play two free songs. Yay!
But then again, I think it would be good if more children did get into DDR...but actually learned the proper way to play and didn't waste the money they spent. It would be a whole new generation of BEMANI fans!
