Team Last Minute Edits (TaroNuke) picks Chewistar from team 9/f/jp!
Hereby voiding my teammate's and one of my votes.
Actually I think this kind of nukes our overall week 4 result so far.
*Starmine*

*Floorfiller*

+0 Tenkuu no Banchou
Dueling Violins:
Awesome, awesome file.
Once the offset was fixed (should be -3.151, this file had the most significant difference), I had a blast, on both the 8 and the 10.
The edit was unexpectedly well made too, but it dragged on and got repetitive in places. Should have been left out imo.
Also there was a doublestep near the beginning of the edit.
Floorfiller:
Pleasant. I don't think more could or should have happened in this file, but it still felt kind of slow paced.
Not in a particularly bad way though.
Venus:
You already know what I think of this file
All My Turn:
A very, very professional file. Good flow, good use of double taps.
Keong Racun:
Very good file on both
and
, few doublesteps in the
when alternating between trills though.
Tenkuu no Banchou:
Weird file. Liked edit MUCH more than challenge, which seemed intentionally very awkward in places.
Which matched the song, I just wasn't having fun.
It takes too long for the first arrow to appear - sucked even more fun out of playing this multiple times to see
,
and edit
is really great after the halfway point, and probably the best of the 3 uppermost difficulties.
I wasn't even considering voting for your file on the
and edit alone.
Red Goose:
You're not going to get lucky with step patterns. You need to find out for yourself what good patterns are.
The holds in measures 9-16 seem intentionally counter intuitive. This strikes me as not something I'd vote for.
It's possible to do it without doublestepping or spinning, but the chart makes no effort to guide me in doing so, which
detracts from the overall experience, making the player think the holds are janky.
Measure 20 to measure 35 is badly, badly inconsistent. Pick a rhythm and stick with it, or at least follow a specific
one for a SET and EVEN amount of time (no willy nilly 2/3 of a bar stuff) if you want to be schizophrenic like Aegis's charts lol.
And work on fixing the doublesteps there too.
There are also rhythm errors everywhere. You seem to be regressing :/
For example, you frequently map the oo-o-oo-o-o-o-o as ooo-o-o-o-o-o-o, which is noticeably wrong. All the time.
And extra jarring because of the way it seems to be in a slightly different place each time. Consistency. Check for it.
There is doublestepping EVERYWHERE. Before, during and after stream segments. You need to at least TRY to learn what it is,
why it isn't good chart design, and how to avoid it.
I'm not trying to make you feel bad though, and the critique is not just because I dislike you or anything like that, so chin up, get researching, etc.
Try analyzing ZiV's tournaments' winning files, to see the step patterns used, and how they relate to the music.
Obviously, something in those files clicked in order to make people vote for them. This is not something people would vote for.
Thunderbolt:
+
Beautiful, especially compared with
. Perhaps this was some kind of Jedi mind trick.
-
Wasn't really a 10.
-
lots of doublesteps.
I don't see what
was going for, but I didn't like it.
As with Banchou, the
is what makes me consider giving it a vote at all. Good thing it's pretty darn neat.
is ass
Starmine:
I was holding off playing this because of how sick I am of the song.
Lol, tits Yuyuko.
---Holy shit of the week---
I almost refuse to believe Chewi made this file because it's way too difficult and interesting and there are no doublesteps.
Ippatsu Gyakuten:
Nothing particularly memorable here. I think the song choice made for very unmemorable steps.
I didn't like the song that much either, seems like a worse version of the one in Reflec Beat (or the many in Pump it Up).
Code 0207:
The song seemed annoying to me }:
neato steps though, I like what you did with the facing one way then facing the other way, but most other places seemed
a little haphazard and overly simplified much to the chargrin of the music.
Bits & Bytes:
This was fun, section with the alternating 16th8th16th jumps worked really well. Could have done with some gimmicks ;)
Wasn't Center Piercing late?:
Unexpectedly cool song bro.
Usurped Banchou for my 1pt, but some of the patterns seemed "trying too hard" to shoehorn a cross into every movement.
I liked pretty much all of your holds though.

Random question, but since Chewi was on team Nine Year Old Japanese Girls Desu Ne when he made the file, shouldn't you be able to vote for it because the count goes towards that team, not your own? I dunno, maybe I'm just confused over the scoring.Also-- about gimmicks? I think I implemented a pretty good one with my file for this week. Just don't spoil it for people who haven't played it when I do release it.
