"Toasty!"
Honestly if they would have had the same developer team that did X and X2 I'm sure they could have made this as good or better than PS2 releases. It should have been better since it was released on PS3.

IIRC, X and X2 US were developed by the same team that did ALL PSone and PS2 console releases (except Disney Channel Edition).

I believe the PS3 version deserved to have at least 80 songs, and a balance of KOs, crossovers, licenses from DDR X2 AC, and exclusive licenses. Hell, UNIVERSE 3 is IMO the best DDR released in the past 3 years, mainly because of its big songlist (83 songs)

Agreed. Switching the developer team was a huge mistake and we probably would have gotten that if they didn't.

"MAGGLE"
The PS3 version (and the Xbox 360 too for that matter) was supposed to be a hi-def port of X2 PS2 and Wii combined.

It's just that they (or the dev team) decided to treat the PS3 game as the next version and X2 AC's staff weirdly has no plans to port the game to CS.

We have looked at the positives, but the negatives weigh more.

EDIT:

DDR X seemed like a great step forward for US CS releases. Its a shame stillwind passed away, since I think we wouldve had something much different if he was still around.

I'm sorry, I think he did his own damage much like NAOKI has done now. I don't like his vision for the series. Though his passing saddens me.

It is truly a depressing time now no? I remember back in the early years of the previous decade, fans were bitching at US PS2 releases for not being the same game as what Japan was getting. Now these same games, which may I add are 8-6 years old, are looking mighty fine today. Not to mention are dirt cheap used at the local game store. You can actually pop in DDR Extreme US and have some fun with it.

BEMANI in general for the CS is just so sad now. The arcade games may be flourishing but dammit I've got no means of getting to play the latest games. They look so cool and have upped the ante from their previous versions.

Really what keeps me going is playing the classics. A few rounds of IIDX, some unlocking in pop'n, and DDR here and there.
Will not change sig till pop'n 17, IIDX 17, and GF/DM XG get CS versions.

I take it DDR Freedom was no good?Neutral

DDR Freedom was an aborted fetus that sprung from the depths of hell and crawled through the valley of pop culture and 4chan to make it's way into the crevice of Konami's bunghole and it laid baby Girugemesh eggs and that's what we got.
Fixed for you Aaron.

I lolled.

I was one of the few people that kept insisting that it was still in production. But now... it just feels like it was quietly erased. The last Xbox 360 game was released in late 2008.

To put it into perspective, W. Bush was still president of the United States.

The 360 version was announced again by Konami a few months ago and NAOKI recently talked about the game on his Facebook.

Konami would be extremely very stupid to cancel the Xbox 360 DDR after releasing press releases not so long ago. Though it wouldn't surprise me as this is Konami America we are talking about. Roll Eyes

"Secret Agent"
My opinion, this DDR for PS3 and Wii (Both of them = USA version ) = Blah ...... Sad

Without subtitle (Finally Hottest Party 4 = the name but for PAL version) , too hurry to released.

The PS3 version have worse interface than X2 (That actually for XBOX360 and PS3 version)

The Wii version, i dunno. Still not founded yet on my local gamestore. Mad

I wonder which is better ? Konami USA or Konami Hawaii ?

In my opinion, DDR PS3 was unnecessary; for such a simple game, Naoki wasn't thinking too well on budgeting because the game could have run on the PS2 minus DLC. I believe the flashiness of the backgrounds were "HD" to get by Sony's "don't want PS3 games looking like PS2 games" pet peeve. If anything, Naoki should focus on DanceMasters...it was his dream come true. Don't get me wrong, I do like Top the Charts and Seasons....those should be crossover'd into DanceMasters and/or DDR X2 (JP CS, if we get it).

So good that it was too good for Europe.

But yeah, it beggars belief that the PS3 version has even less content than a PS1 game, and also how misguided some of the production staff were when they thought that DDR needed shitty GH gimmicks even more than fucking Doubles charts.

Mook: Sir, we've finished production on the latest installment of Dance Dance Revolution for the XBox 360! Copies are printed and ready to ship to all of the video game retailers!
Emperor of Konami: Good, good, things are going quite swimmingly.
Mook: Shall we release them then, sir?
Emperor: No.

Emperor of Konami and his legion of loyal mooks, all of which are armed to the teeth with automatic firearms, but keep the magazines to said weapons in a locked storage room to prevent misuse amongst less responsible employees.

Konami (insert branch here): (2006) "Look we have this cool thing called e-Amuse and you can have it in the arcades for DDR in the US!!! Also you can use your song edits from DDR SuperNOVA for the PeeEsTew in the new upcoming arcade title! It even says it in the manual!"

(2007) "Hey just sign up we have servers and everything for e-Amuse! Just give us your money and you can be in the future, now! Oh and what was that about edits on the AC mix? I don't know what you're talking about"

(2008) "Wow! Look at these fresh beats on this machine! It's DDR X and it's gonna make you combo wombo!!!! You can even make your own step charts for the game and upload them with SD cards! USB flash drives when the game comes out! at a later date! They also have these kickin' keypads where the arcade game can connect to our e-Amuse servers and track your stats and battle it out with rivals from ACROSS THE WORLD!!! There might be a little problem with our screens but we'll get that fixed soon! eventually! If we get around to it.

Yeah I think Konami is really good at releasing things that they advertise. Although, in some cases the blame can go to Benson But let's just ignore that because Benson is just amazing and loves it's fanbase.

I want e-Amuse Sad Sad

One thing I've learnt since coming to Japan is that when people complain that eAmuse works just fine in Japan and can never seem to get done right in the States or in Europe, that isn't even the half of it.

eAmuse in Japan is a Konami-only affair. But it's not just used for DanceDanceRevolution. If eAmuse were rolled out in western countries that would be the only running series actively applying it. It's not even just used for Bemani games. eAmuse is used in almost every Konami game series including card-battle games (with a following of Starcraft-grade faithfuls), pachinko slot machines (legally arcade games that you play for "prizes", in practice they are true gambling machines), and a number of other non-music games. Almost everything with a Konami logo. eAmuse is a universal login system for all of these machines and now that Konami has Paseli those cards hold credits used to get extra DDR credits or pull the handle on a pachinko machine a few more times.

This is why eAmuse is so successful in Japan, this is why every single arcade has it. And the complete absence of that eco-system outside of Asia means eAmuse would have to be completely overhauled just to add one game series in two additional locales to the system and make it cost effective. Konami probably wants to get the system in place but as far as America is concerned almost none of the arcades hosting DDR machines are equipped to plug an arcade machine to a persistent internet connection. Much less pay to use the service. They don't want it because it won't make THEM money much less pay for itself. So because of that Konami couldn't roll out eAmuse service even if they wanted to... and they do, and they've tried, and the last anyone has heard they are looking into changing the way eAmuse works worldwide (including Japan) so that it's possible to have more countries on it than just Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.

I think they're really trying and I think they're not about to give up. I also think they should stop promising a service until it's clear that the service will be widely available. Yes, that means talking to distributors and arcade franchises across the US and Europe to get commitments. Continuing to hail features that repeatedly don't exist is one of the many ways to kill a brand.
