Japan, seeing the horror and level of disgust this game has caused, has made a beneficial decision to preserve it's powerful DDR image by choosing to cancel DDR PS3. The fear it would create in the fanbase would cause a loss of faith in those that provide the series, and we all know Japan is too smart for that. xD

I think this is a good thing for Japan to cancel the PS3 version and it's ABOMINATION it hath brought, yet it's also sad because they haven't had a DDR AC -> CS port since DDR X...But i think they are too busy with X2 AC to worry about a CS port anyway

I actually suggested in the chat about starting the CS ports of DDR X2 and feeding the info to the press.
But noooooooooo, it would kill expected profits for DDR PS3 4X360 (and looking at the previous page, make Naoki sad). And we still don't know if that port will have the framerate problem fixed.
And DDR PS3 is specifically geared toward the american crowd (not even Europe) so good reason for them not to release it in Japan

Chances are Konami's porting DDR X2 AC to the PS3 anyway...

Invariably, yes. But the question is when.
Also, why are some people still expecting 150+ DLC for this game? Didn't we already see that this is different than first advertised?

I'm glad. I don't think anyone wanted to see it come out, and I hope they've recognised that posting Hottest Party games to the PS3 just isn't good enough.
Also, holy fuck, lots of people have Rainbow Dash avatars, all of a sudden o.O

But there's a problem, the PS3 game isn't really a HP game. Yes, the one on the Wii is, obviously, but aside from the songlist the two games are quite a bit different.

wow 3 people on this page are Tyma
Anyway, I'm glad DDR PS3 died in Japan. It was moving DDR in a direction far away from the series I know and love and I hope they can get the CS games back on track (at least in one region).

Most likely canceled due to poor sales in America and lack of any evidence that the game would do any better in Japan. Unfortunately, I don't believe that these poor sales will give the development team a boost to really go to work on how to make a DDR game that successfully balances items that will appeal to a casual audience and long-time DDR fans. The current development team seems under the impression that a slew of top 20 songs from the last 40 years and a new mode featuring the latest doohickey will be enough to draw new players in while DDR veterans will buy the game because...it's called DDR and they threw in some old songs.
It's a real shame that since NAOKI has taken over the CS part of the franchise it has gone on a downward slope toward eventual failure. I have to kind of laugh looking back on how we used to rip and complain about the older US CS games, but now we can only wish we could return to them. Honestly, I'm hoping to see a DDR announced at E3 this year that will really upstage last year's releases in a big way, but I feel the chances of that are rather low. At least we have a strong arcade team now.

There will be an announced DDR game at E3 that will upstage the previous game, I promise you that. But the final product will be worse than DDRPS3

How is the game bad? I thought HP4 was a great game, and I enjoyed DDR X. Maybe I'm not as picky as every other DDR fan seems to be, but still, it can't be THAT bad. I've seen videos, they look pretty good.
I hope that JP DDR PS3 getting canceled doesn't mean the same thing for a JP-HP4. D8

HP4 has an atrocious interface and the stepcharts are only slightly better than HP2's, which had some of the worst official DDR charts ever.

Hottest Party 4 was fine.
The problem is that they brought in a seperate developer, with no understanding of the previous DDR series to port Hottest Party 4 to the PS3, and that they did this instead of giving us a new DDR USA CS or Universe game.
They made this decision almost immediately after releasing DDR Universe 3 and DDR X2, which are arguably the most highly-praised DDR games they've released in years.
We went from getting 4 CS games a year to only 1 CS game per year, and that CS game was Hottest Party o.O

The game lacks the following on both systems:
Edit Mode
Doubles Mode
Online Play

What?
We've always had annual (or nearly annual) releases of :
DDR CS (arcade port)
DDR USA CS (collection of previous KOs, KOs from the upcoming arcade game and exclusive licenses)
DDR Universe / Ultramix
Hottest Party
Before Hottest Party, we were still getting 3 new DDR games a year.

While making DDR PS3 (JP), I'm guessing one of the programmers shouted "joudan ja neee!!" and thew the mouse across the room. I hope Konami learns from this and starts working on DDR X2 CS instead.
