Maybe the people who got "No entry" opponents should be paired against each other?
like
Friday vs. Drop Zone
and
The Rotter Tarmination vs. Warp
?
cuz we got just enough entries to do it, and we we we so excited
This way people actually play our files since we put effort into them, and it IS the final round.

Thirded. Even if it isn't officialized I'll get some reviews up.

Thank You!! vs. THE LADY IS A TRAMP
These charts were surprisingly similar in terms of step density, considering how different the songs really are. In the end, I felt like although neither set of charts really captured the rhythms in the song, THE LADY IS A TRAMP did a better job of it than Thank You!!. In THE LADY IS A TRAMP, I always felt like I knew what was meant by each pattern, and I could hear the instrument(s) it was following; with Thank You!!, there were some moments when I couldn't discern the source of the rhythms at all.
Friday vs. Drop Zone
lol Friday. This chart really does fit the song. In terms of things I'd actually enjoy playing on pad, though, Imma go with Drop Zone. Far fewer doublesteps, more varied rhythms (yes I know Friday actually doesn't have varied rhythms).
Rottel da Nekogirl vs. WARP!
Both of these files are really good. I liked the charts for both and had a lot of fun with both of them. However, I think Rottel da Tarmination is a more complete package than WARP! here. I know I'm judging on presentation now, which I don't usually do, but what in Tarmination was that Taiko cameo lol. (I failed the song the first time around because I was laughing so hard)
Also, not that this affects (because it was an easy fix with a bit of ddreamstudio) but WARP! is sync'd very early.
Finalists:
Lies - 0
For The Navy - 0
with me... - 0
Scatman (Starving Trancer Remix) - 0
Nightmare - 0
Starry Sky (Yeah!) - 0
Other Pairings:
Thank You!! - 0
THE LADY IS A TRAMP - 1
Friday - 0
Drop Zone - 1
Rottel da Tarmination - 1
WARP! - 0
guys get some revyooz up this final round is so boring

how does it count as a vote if I did not participate in this tourney? Only entrants are able to vote.

Wait, really?
That explains why there are so few votes in the last few rounds :{

from what I can see, 22 people have the option to vote.
You must vote to avoid disqualification.
If you already lost, there's no point in voting since, well, you lost.
There's no way to require people to vote past their elimination. They will just stop caring. It's only natural that less people vote the closer we get to finals.

I don't know much about simfiles, and I thought some of these were very close. It was very hard for example, choosing between a technicaly perfect simfile for a song I never want to play again, and a simfile I can see an obvious fault with, but still have a blast playing. All I can really do it vote based on which songs I had the most fun playing.
That said, I wrote reviews because I really wish people who know about simfiles would give me advice on my own ^^;
-
Friday
This is pretty much spot-on. The world probably needed a Rebecca Black simfile, and you've nailed it.
I think perhaps I expected a different banner for the "proper" simfile? Maybe something more in line with the music video? I'm stretching at this point to find anything to say, because I can't find anything wrong with the steps or the music cut.
The maniac steps have some little spins in them. I like that, because who's really going to play a Rebecca Black simfile, unless they're already dicking around? With that in mind, I think the steps could have encouraged a little more freestyling, but as they are, this is pretty much exactly how I imagine the song to play.
-
Drop Zone
I think you've had a really unlucky 6 weeks, because every round, I end up playing your files, instantly realizing who stepped it, and either thinking "I wish I'd thought of that", or "I wish I could make simfiles that do this", and then for some reason, I always end up voting for the other guy, even though you're consistantly putting out nice files.
The only problem I have for this song is the music cut :{
The song starts off with such a great bouncy energy, but then it's like it slowly winds down throughout the song? Personally, I wouldn't have used the freeze section at all, and tried to keep up the energy.
The steps are spot-on for the entire thing, and the the first 30 seconds are incredibly fun, but then as the song slowly winds down, the energy drops off, and it feels like the first half of the song was a bit of a tease.
That's all to do with the song cut, though. The steps are absolutely fantastic.
-
The Lady Is A Tramp
This is a "song choice" thing, but I've never heard the song before, and have no idea how the rhythms are meant to work. It seems really complex, and to be honest, I hate the song enough that I don't want to try and understand it.
From what I played of the steps, they seemed fine, but you made a really technical chart to a song that I don't like, and it's really hard for me to have any fun playing it :{
-
Thank You!!
I already knew this song really well before I played the file, and although I'd alreday read a comment that said the rhythm didn't go to the song, it actually played exactly the way I expected it to.
I like the little Breakdown callback. There are fun little things in the steps that let you throw in some moves, and really get into the song, which always adds to the fun.
-
Rottel da Tarmination
This is the most amazing thing I've seen in a dancing game since 'Beat # no.4'. Even without the gimmick, this is immaculate.
This is one of those songs you literally cannot full-combo the first time you play it. The upside of this is that it feels great to play the song over and over, until you manage to perfect it.
The downside is that in order for players to do this, your steps have to be fun enough, that someone will happily play the song a couple of times, in order to full-combo it. I think very few simfiles compell me to do this, and Roddel Da Tarmination is the first I've ever played that doesn't come from either DDR or Mungyodance.
I literally cannot believe that you're the same person who stepped the last 2 bars of Aegis. Please make more 8s and 9s, because your 8s and 9s are the best things in this tournament.
-
WARP!
This is fantastic. It feels just like an official DDR song, and that's probably the #1 thing I look for in a great simfile. This song looks, feels and play perfectly.

Voting was to end yesterday but now we have our TOURNAMENT OF IMMORTALS CHAMPION!!!!!!
Tyma
I'll send you a PM about the what you can and can not do in the summer contest.
I like to thank everyone that had a hand in this. I know it was a bumpy road but this will get better by age. For next time I plain on doing it around mid November - December.
Hope to see you all in the 2011 Ziv Summer contest!

I had a great time making sims for, and playing sims from, this contest. Pretty surprised I advanced as far as I did I wish more people had voted in the final round, but what's done is done. Congratulations Tyma, you are a worthy opponent!
I'll see you all in Z-I-v SC11!
