Hm that edit probably got hacked in some how, especially since it is choc full of hands.

You're assuming that the chart forces him to hold down a freeze arrow, and press 2 other steps, and that he's not just using his hands for fun / to show off?

It only gives you the shock arrow video for the US CS version. Not sure about JP CS.
JP CS does that too.

I was playing an edit data from a Japan player in my Rival list

he should have used hacking technique on the edit data

I will try to ask him the secret in making those edits

If Konami catches on to the hacking edit data to use hands they might:

1) Kill edits altogether.
2) Start adding hands to songs.
3) Do nothing.

I don't know if 1 or 2 is more bearable. Of course, 3 could happen.

3's definitely the lesser of three evils. You just know Konami won't be able to manage using hands properly.

"jubeat knit one, purl two"
ITG was just blah about hands towards the end, so Konami won't do much good with them.

Definitely 3.

IIRC, you could 'hack' in hands in the Edit modes of the CS games until SuperNOVA2 where they 'fixed' it, so this isn't anything new I think.

Oh yeah >.<

And we go lucky that they don't put lots of shock arrows on X-special...

Btw, the edit of will with hands, is a pure shit. I hope the guy who made this made it just for show "hands are possible on ddrx" and not because he made a good edit...

Wasnt a hack its a bug, the game freaks out if you put a lot of 12th notes in for some reason, thats the short story of it not entirely sure how it worked but it was possible to manipulate it to give you a perfect hand plant if you knew how it worked and even arrows that were on top of holds!

Tyma brings in a good point. Why hasn't anybody else pointed this out?

pie, I don't understand how Konami can codify "official" simfile data against hands. I put hands in my charts, but since my keyboard doesn't allow more than 2 arrow inputs at once I just stop the freeze arrow close to (right before, at the moment of, or right after) the hand so I can keyboard a pad file without having problems.

I mean, there's no stopping me from getting down on my knees at the end of Ever Snow Heavy Doubles (which I do quite often, really... It's like, my number 3 favorite doubles chart? Irrelevant, anyway...). While it's obvious Konami had no hands intended there, I still made use of it.

Why is Konami so against using hands anyway?

I mean, the beginner helper is really misleading. If you're new to the game the worst thing to learn is to put your feet back on the center (as if you had to, not just for fun). But the onscreen dancers constantly do that. I mean, c'mon, how can Konami think that facilitating hands isn't good for attracting new players when their existing teaching methods are already failures?

Oh, this brings up another question I never thought of asking: Does DDR X have lifts or rolls?

Yeah, about that...

Most of you know that DDR machines with Playstation card slots could bring edits of songs from the same mix version from your console games. So if you made your own version of... say... EternuS (couldn't think of an old song that had lots of 12ths, or "triplets" as the music industry calls them)... and brought it to an SN2 machine with a PS card slot (dream on Roll Eyes) you could play your steps.

But I could never replicate triplets the way I wanted to. I'd have to load the chart that had them and then just... not touch them ever, or else I'd have to do the whole dam chart over.

Read 2 posts below Tyma's, and you can see TimeSpaceMage pointing out that you can see the chart in antony's video response. Learn to read.

Konami has chosen not to use hands, probably due in parts to dexterity, pad quality, and sanitation. For these same reasons, they'd prefer to keep players from making edits that require them. It'd be fairly trivial for them to write a program to sanity check the charts and edit any parts that have hands or steps on top of freezes. It'd be even simpler to just put up an error message when the player tries to play a chart that fails the sanity check.

X does not have lifts or rolls. Unless you're playing on crappy pads. Then it has rolls, but not freezes.

No, those are only in StepMania and rolls in In the Groove 2.

EDIT: Maybe I should start waiting a few minutes for someone else to post the obvious instead of taking a few minutes to do it myself.

I'm with Artic Wolves on this one! Touch of my Hand is really good! I'd also be glad if Bill Hamel decided to remix one of Britney's newer songs. I just love If You Seek Amy, but the title kills its chances of getting in DDR right...?
