Don't use UIOP for pad files. Try this instead; 4 2 8 6 on the numpad, and use just your index fingers. That way you can get a good feel of how the chart would play on a pad without actually needing a real pad.

got busy and can't find a song that would do well with soflans, oh well.


Dopamine ESP isn't really what i was thinking, because it does have fast doublesteps. probably something like Wadatsumi? or HAPPY LUCKY YEAPPY and i think Sand Blow is cool too. Windy Fairy is pretty neat. it has doublesteps but those are like on 4ths that are pretty far apart.


both are Pokemon Mystery Dungeon songs -- i knew they wouldn't lend well to nice charts and i did state they really feel sub-par but i love these songs out of stepcharting context that i just had to try. you already know i have a thing with non 4/4 time signatures =p


to me, a good chart is a chart that is close to how i'd do it personally (yes it sounds very self-centered lol)... but i do weigh in song choice and sync and all that. but you will definitely score points if you do things i don't expect that goes better =p

but anyway yeah that's just how i judge things. it's very subjective and everyone's process is different.

also you remind me of my (unfinished) soul silver run. my main powerhouses are feraligatr and ampharos.

The main thing I look for in a good chart (aside from the obvious stuff like being properly synced and no awkward/frustrating doublesteps) is how well the steps fit the song. Remember, it's a music game, so the player should feel like they're actually "interacting" with the song as they play it. This can mean a lot of different things and is all pretty subjective, but for me it usually means following the rhythm of the song as accurately as possible and using a mixture of holds, jumps, crossovers, etc. to accent different parts of the song.

Speaking of crossovers, don't be afraid to use crossovers. In a lot of files I've played, the simfile artist seems to be afraid to use crossovers at all. But when crossovers are used at the right time, they make the chart that much more interesting. Just be careful not to spam crossovers too much. We don't want another Healing-D-Vision .

Thanks for the feedback on the charts! I didn't have a ton of time to make adjustments, so the expert chart is understandably irregular at times. Well, the song itself can be too, but not the point. Looking back I know for sure I should have gone with one of my original choices, they were safer, but this one was more fun to work with.

No file for me this week, and I'm not going to have any votes in, either. Every year I tell myself I'm going to stick this out to the end, and every year around the 4th of July I just lose interest. It's just my personality that I can't keep interest in one thing for more than about a month at a time. I even had a song I was gonna do for this week, and the Expert chart was already done. If next week's theme jumps out at me I might jump back in, but no promises.
