"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
You know what? It may be groan-worthy, but I betcha I know exactly what's going on with this "Vol. 1" stuff...
I don't think it's a new game/title. I just think it's a new "product," probably a value-pack where a pad or two comes bundled with 2 older titles; like so:
PS2 = DDRMAX + DDRMAX 2
360 = DDR UNIVERSE + UNIVERSE 2
Wii = DDR HP + HP2
...and so forth. It does make me wonder what the "PS3" version is (EXTREME + EXTREME 2?!), and there's always the chance than I'm wrong about this. And hopefully, all of this stir has been big enough to hit Konami's radar and get such a real title like this underway, anyways.
As for that guestimate list, here's just the *last batch* of songs cut out to make the tracklist (almost) fit:
The earlier mixes were simply restructured to remain mostly intact. Making scrapping choices like those is really, really freaking hard to do! But I'm also considering official-edit potential, like porting one set of steps (like "1998 (Sparky 2006)'s) to another song (like the original "1998"). Or perhaps featuring one "mix" of one on a first volume, and the other remix on the second.
I'm also thinking by doing that, DYNAMITE RAVE/CELEBRATE NITE/SUPER STAR can probably be batched together as one song too... but I can't really decide one above the others. All predictable reasons aside, if that happens, *I* think CELEBRATE NITE would work best; as it also has a FuruFuru remix (which can be overlooked, to be honest), and could work with it's (Party like it's '99 remix) counterpart as well. Plus, it's rather catchy, and not overdone to death like DR is (love it as I do, you can find it just about anywhere). But who's to say what that would be like?

You want to know what could be a good idea?
DDR MIXES.
Like classic NAOKI/dj TAKA/TaQ/etc. songs combined to make a long version.
Basically, XMixes... but with GOOD songs.

It would be alright if the Xmixes were around 2 minutes and thirty seconds or so and less.

I can't stand long versions.

I don't know for you people but I think Xmixes should have more variations while transitioning from a song to another and also some steps to go with it too... I find it sad that Xmixes are basically just songs put back to back... Xmix1 had the originality of alternating between Poseidon and Uranus, I would've expected more of this, or at least a little bit more originality... I keep my hopes up for the next ones if there are...

Strangely, it looks like this game won't be a 'best hits' collection, but instead just your average run-of-the-mill DDR game? I guess we'll have to see.

I'm screaming "do not want" to the new background at the konami website. I hope they won't stick to chibi dancers.
There goes the chance to even out with japan. But if it isn't a best hits, what kind of new content would we see?
I could only wish a balanced number of songs between the Bemani Artists and the Commissioned artists, but then again...

Expect an EXTREME2-like game. A bunch of new songs along with some songs we haven't seen yet, minus the unique background videos and with more loading times for the song sample to start. And 30 licenses.

Not sure though, this COULD be something, but judging from what the press release says, this could just be like some DDR game that doesn't fall within the DDR main stream games...
It's more like a "best" DDR game rather than "mainstream" DDR game
Here's to hoping for a trailer or something about it
And i am also taking a guess and say that Dance Dance Revolution is the name of the title? Weird, they are doing the same thing with Karaoke Revolution...the name of the game is Karaoke Revolution

I'm still wondering if this game will share a lot of the licenses from the new Karaoke Revolution. If this game is being catered to a US market, and both are starting from scratch... it seems like something they'd do.

Well, we already know that Konami has looked to license "The Way I Are" for both this game and Karaoke Revolution,

The exact same formula they've used for the past 5 years?
