How many people are going to believe the next DDR game that promises DLC?
I like this question a lot. We're already assuming that the DLC won't be transferable to the next DDR game!

Oh? I don't think of that as an assumption. Starting with ULTRAMIX 4 DLC was on-disc, so through the UNIVERSE series the "downloads" were locked to that release and when UNIVERSE 3 had genuine DLC... there was no follow-up for it to potentially be used on.
Just because the DLC for this game is coming from a server doesn't automatically mean it's going to work with the next game in the pipe... The next game could be so radically different that the DLC wouldn't be compatible. Bearing in mind that this game was not created by Konami. How many third party DDR producers have made concurrent games? And so far, there's no DLC to do anything with.

IIRC, all the BAND/HERO DLC was originally locked to each game.

This happened when DDR Ultramix 3 came out and the DLC was off synch because they didn't make it compatible. They're fault, because it worked perfectly fine in Ultramix 2 and 1. That's why they threw all the (past) DLC on the disc for Ultramix 4, so that it would be synched correctly. But they also threw the new DLC on the disc and made us pay for it...

I think I like the ultramix series better for that reason. Having a large mass of songs that could be played on multiple games. It is the way of the future, actually the present. If you pay for songs once, why should you have to pay again? That's just a company at the top of it's avarice. They need to consider this fact before people decide not to waste their money.
All I know is that two dollars for a rock band song is a good investment. It basically last forever with any game they could think of making.

I agree completely. And I wouldn't mind paying that much ever for old DDR songs if I knew they would last from game to game.

the sad part is if konami was smart they would have at least kept up with monthly transferable DLC with DDR, now everyone thinks harmonix had another awesome idea right up there with the "full band" game they didn't actually invent (yes, theirs runs its own way but long before RB we had GF/DM which could link with KBM in early versions, not to mention the rare DDR/IIDX machines from club version and the mythical karaoke DDR).
i love rock band, but i hate that they are credited with so much for only having taken an idea and ran with it. it just goes to show that its not who does it first, but who does it better that is noticed in the long run. konami needed to take notes on how harmonix took the monthly transferable song packs and made them something even better, instead we just get missed DLC dates with no explanation. i dont know how many of you follow rock band on facebook, but any time something bad happens they address it right away, even if just to say "yeah, we know about the roadie load screen freeze when loading arena 12 and we're looking into it". the acknowledgment is nice.

All I know is rock band has not missed a single week of dlc. In fact they release info regrading upcoming dlc days before. If they missed a week, they probably would give a big worded apology and put up a few dlc songs for free.
Konami is expressing that customer experience is not their main priority.

Harmonix is far from perfect when it comes to customer support. There were two major issues with Rock Band in general at RB3's launch.
1) If you had changed your gamertag at any point in time, you could not "transfer" Rock Band 2's on-disc songs or redeem the three free songs you got for preordering at Gamestop. They never officially confirmed that this was the problem, but the community through its own research figured out that this was the only common denominator between everyone having issues. All I saw was an occasional message that "we're fixing it" and then no announcement that it had indeed been fixed.
2) They "ran out" of download tokens for LEGO Rock Band, which saw a sudden surge of sales around RB3's launch. However, they did not take down the redemption page, causing many people to seemingly waste a transfer code. The redemption page remained up for the duration of this problem, with unsuspecting people "losing" codes right up to the day before they had more download tokens available.
In the end, this was all fixed. But there was little (visible) action taken. I don't think there was even much of an apology, and it concerns me that these issues never got much press... anywhere. Harmonix never noted it anywhere on the Rock Band site (you had to go through the forums to discover that yes, these were widespread issues) and only one news/community site even mentioned the story.
I just don't understand. Harmonix seems bulletproof, yet Konami gets nothing but crap.
Edit: I don't follow Harmonix/Rock Band on Facebook, so if they had mentioned either of these problems there, I have no idea.

Point well taken.
I guess next Tuesday will be the judgement day, though the 2nd round of dlc is supposed to be released the day after.
If the issue truly was on Sony's end, then we should see at least the first round of dlc by then. If we don't see anything by Tuesday, I truthfully don't expect to see anything the day after or a while after that.

Whoever you are, welcome to ZIV, and kudos for making good points in some of your first posts. I'm keeping a wait and see attitude until the second date. After that if there's still nothing then it's clear that something went wrong. I want to believe that Konami has a really good reason for this and that they will, in the end, make DDR one of the greatest song sets in the franchise. But until they make good, they haven't made good.
Wouldn't it be funny... If Sony sent their uploads on Tuesday as planned and Konami handed them DDR DLC the very next day. Now Sony has to wait until the next Tuesday update, making the DLC almost a week late. But technically Konami net their date and Sony is just keeping their schedule. Then, next Wednesday, Konami gives then DLC round 2 and we have to wait an additional six days for that too...

I believe that this whole ordeal is sonys fault. PSN rarely updates other then Tuesday unless it is something major. I'm sure the companies can make Sony update PSN on a day other then Tuesday for an extra fee. ( I'm sure thats gotta be the reason there's generally only one big update a week) Konami may very well have sent Sony the DLC past the due date for the update this past week. I would be shocked if DLC doesn't show up this week. Konami responded to my post on facebook saying that details about the DLC will be forthcoming.

Like you guys, I'm strangely more confident in seeing DLC this Tuesday than I was last Tuesday. I mentioned it before, they probably had the DLC ready at the beginning of the "PlayStation week", which was Wednesday. Let's just hope we see it now next Tuesday.

I hope DLC gets released on tuesday and if not it will tell the difference between a huge mistake and a minor misunderstanding. Not getting it on tuesday means somebody messed up big somewhere. Either Konami messed up, possibly in more ways than one, or Sony messed up. Either way we will see in 1-2 days.

Even though I don't have the game, I'll check for DLC at about 10am EST Tuesday, and every 4 hours after that until 10pm Wednesday night.
Let's hope the Xbox 360 version doesn't have this debacle.
