So anyway, does anyone think that Konami will keep Shock Arrows in this game? Even though DDR Vol. 1 seems to be a "greatest hits" release, it could be possible that they keep in new features, or they may add in another new thing.
uuuhhhhh PLEASE NO! I mean, if they WANT to put in shock arrows, make it so that they are individual to the arrows, not a single straight line of "fail" arrows.I like Shock Arrows on some charts, but others...*looks at DDR X US CS Hortaio's

I think that unless they rework them to act like ITG mines it's not going to last as a gimmick. If Volume 1 is what it alludes to being then I doubt they'll even need support for Shock Arrows. I like that Konami is adding the features of their most recent acquisition to DDR, they just need to do it differently. Freeze Arrows were never roped off in a separate chart for each selected song and then played by themselves without other arrows on the screen at the same time.

Since when did DDR become such serious business? You'd think it's become the internet now.

"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
It's really hard to imagine a "Greatest Hits" DDR capable of topping Extreme 2; which is more or less "half of one" to begin with. I mean, without copying half the tracklist, like the speed songs from 3rd Mix and Extreme, the NAOKI rave classics, the Konami Originals from Ultramix, etc.
I mean, I've narrowed down about 10 tracks per set or so, almost entirely KO's, and even THAT is 2x as big as a game would probably be. Unless they're aiming in a certain direction (time frame, KO's/licenses, etc.), it's really hard to guess what this is going to have going for it. I mean, even 3 songs per title would be stretching things, unless they're seriously considering a bigger (JP-Extreme-sized tracklist)
BRILLIANT 2U, KEEP ON MOVIN', DYNAMITE RAVE, and PARANOiA MAX (DIRTY MIX) have so many stepcharts and variations by now, they could almost be an entire game, all by themselves. XD I'm just waiting for them to "tokyoEVOLVED" or "SUNKiSS DROP" those.
Another thing I wonder about... on the one hand, having a mix chock-full of TRIP MACHINEs, PARANOiAs, MAX(X), RevenG songs, 2MB songs, IIDX bosses, and other boss songs together would be hella cool. But also, having an entire mix consisting of them would easily overrun the tracklist, as well; and putting easy stuff like BOOM BOOM DOLLAR, MY FIRE, and THE WHISTLE SONG in a mix alongside them would kind of be... uh, strange, wouldn't it?
A "fun songs mix" and a "hard songs mix" would work, but you know they aren't going to do that... ^.^' They'll probably try to break up each half-and-half. Or more so than that. DLC could be iffy, especially concerning the PS2 port. But then, I suppose that system has a lot of the songs being considered anyways, even the PS1-era stuff (albeit, broken up across the first 4 mixes). The Ultramix series has quite a number of them, too; particularly in 2 & 3.
-EDIT: SHOCK ARROWS-
I can see them being useful in the future, just the way they are. However, it would be nice to be able to add them in Edit Mode, or layer steps over them so that the step-arrows or freezes are considered "safe," and everything else remains a shock. Could make for some interesting jump or step-jump sequences (can you imagine the step-step-jump portion of FaXX like that?).
Individual "mines" would = Poison Arrows. See Ultramix games.

simply put, this is the sole reason i thought half of the internet were a bunch of morons when konami announced shock arrows and everyone said "hey, ddr has mines now". i say half the internet because, honesty, not everyone can afford a PS2 AND an xbox, and since poison arrows were only in the challenge mode everyone wouldnt know about them just from playing simfiles.
as for pulling a tokyo evolved on paranoia max, brilliant 2u, keep on movin', etc, i would be all for it if they handled it like IIDX distorted did with why did you go away?, let you select the version you want. especially considering most of those versions had different steps, you might want to play a particular one but dont make them take up their own space on the song list. it would be awesome to get every song with an alternate in this game and do that, like the club version songs AND their anothers, dynamite rave, sunkiss drop, add in the new brilliant 2u from furu furu party(and the others, cant remember which ones) and what not too. at this point, i think i'm just dreaming though.

osakaEVOLVED ver.A is pretty much the best one, in my opinion. Although I don't think any of the three are suitable for DDR, really.

My favorite one is B... I think we won't have a consensus here... lol! Though I agree with Oni that none really is a danceable song, would be better in IIDX...

I like B most, because of the skippy part; but I like the fact that it and tokyoEVOLVED change up the way they do. It might not be the most "dance-clubby" beat, but IMHO, "osakaEVOLVED is Pluto, done right." Using some kind of code to change a song to some desired version would be cool, because that way you can keep it randomized if you like that, too.
_______________
Here's about as far as I can guess of a tracklist for the series; narrowed down to only the most essential must-plays. Even the outcome of that is considerably bigger than one could expect in one mix, and there's a couple of close runner-ups in each portion (after the "+" lines) that may sink or swim, given licensing issues. Also, I kind of doubt they'll do more than one song per mix as of DDR SuperNOVA~UNIVERSE~HOTTEST PARTY, as that is their "current gen" of marketing. Remember how Party Collection had one DDRMAX song, one DDRMAX 2 song, one console-only-at-that-point song, and one DDR EXTREME song? (I'm still posting the prospects anyways, just in case there's hope!)

.

That first part, being one problem. Unprecedented size, and this is after super-trimming the whole series, multiple times over (for instance, dropping Healing Vision, as it is an experience "perfected" in A; HONEY ^ PUNCH for CANDY* ~ LOVE v SHINE, or Pluto in favor of osakaEVO). That's also another reason I expect SuperNOVA (or at least SuperNOVA 2) to be the general cut-off point.
And don't think I didn't sacrifice personal favorites along the way, too! MANY of them, in fact... and this is STILL looking too big, even before the "+" songs! (IIRC, that's about 120 or so.) That isn't even considering the "multiple forms" of songs, either; or the possibility of copy-pasting remixes' stepcharts in addition (Most of DYNAMITE RAVE -Down Bird SOTA's- steps could fit with the classic's tune, for example).
Across the nightmare (given the EXTREME~ULTRAMIX 3 batch) was also highly considered, but dropped for being highly comparable to SAKURA, 250bpm, MAX 300, and AKUMAJO DRACULA MEDLEY. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see it either, but at the expense of one of those? o.O (And stoic... See DXY! - and even then, iffy. I don't know if TaQ does DDR at all anymore.)

Well just called my local Gamestop and yup, a "Dance Dance Revolution" title is set to hit their stores sometime November.
I asked for games coming out that month for the PS3 platform and that game was listed alongside Karaoke Revolution, Modern Warfare 2, Ratchet and Clank, etc.
He told me that the BUNDLE is set for $69.99 and no info on whether there is going to be a standalone only deal.
I don't really care since this is the first PS3 DDR, i NEED to buy the bundle pack for this one >_>
