You're right to be concerned, because that there is a great big old red flag. He doesn't have the right to tell her she's not ~*~allowed~*~ to talk to anyone, ever. Especially if he's doing other creepy crap like reading her mail or blowing up her cell and/or e-mail demanding to know where she is, who she's with, and/or when she's going to be home.
