Although you do have to recognize that Konami always leaves US slightly behind. But whatever, I like KO's more than licenses, anyway.

That'd be a boon for you guys...until you realize they're waiting until mid-June.

I'm going to be surprised if Europe even gets a subsidized release of DDR, they're already behind on the mainstream series (plural) on almost every single front.
Arcade:
Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova 2
Dancing Stage SuperNova
PlayStation 2:
Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova 2
Dancing Stage SuperNova (SuperNova 2 on the way)
Xbox 360:
Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2 (Universe 3 on the way)
Dancing Stage Universe (Universe 2 on the way)
Wii:
Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party (Hottest Party 2 on the way)
Dancing Stage Hottest Party
Xbox:
Europe only got three of the four total releases.
It's sad but I wonder if X will even go outside of the states. Disney Channel didn't.

I wouldnt call Disney Channel part of the mainstream series though, makes sense to me that it be U.S. only.

If I remember correctly, wasn't DS SN2 AC cancelled due to some law or something?

My point is they tier almost all of your games one release behind the North America, and we're staggering behind Japan. Everytime I see someone complain about how we don't get x song and y song I just wanna say Be glad you're not in Europe.
I dunno what you guys did to cross Konami so bad that they don't even want to give you guys the time of day sometimes.
I have to feel really sorry for Australia and New Zealand. They've only gotten a handful of the European games... and nothing from anywhere else.

Something about not being allowed to have PS2 consoles inside arcade machines. It's only going to get worse, because of that stupid rule Europe will not get arcade DDR games until further notice.

Hm.....European gamer must be disappointed because of that rule. Luckily for Japanese gamer, they can get all unique stuff on there.

Aeron, my location says "USA".
But yeah, Europe just gets the US game with worse licenses. Konami, move on to PS3 already!!!

Not "law", but rather "EU directive". The fat PS2 in the SN hardware doesn't meet the RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) qualifications because the slim PS2 (despite its inability to use a hard drive) supersedes it in terms of meeting RoHS criteria (as the slim PS2 contains less mercury and lead in its design than the fat PS2). As a result, the fat PS2 (and, by extension, the Bemani PS2 hardware) is unable to be sold in the EU.

I don't understand the mechanics of how a DDR machine works inside however, I see no reason why Konami can't just upgrade SuperNOVA to SuperNOVA 2. All the EU law really means is no new machines can be sold with the current hardware but since both Fusion and SuperNOVA AC use the new hardware anyway simply upgrading them couldn't be that difficult right? Or is it much more complex to upgrade then even I'm aware?
killer_roach what I gather from your post is: Konami use Slimline PS2 hardware = problem solved.
Damn EU eh? I think too much mercury was why Warioware: Twisted couldn't be released here either.

Wow. I didn't know that there is a DDR Machine runs on a modified fat PS2. o_o
Cool.
And seriously, that EU directive is a crock of ****.
OMG! I'M GOING TO GET LEAD AND MERCURY POISONING FROM A PS2 EMBEDDED IN A CABINET!
How the hell does that work? It's mind-boggling.

They decided they don't want lead and mercury dumped in landfills. That directive is made with consideration of how the machine will be disposed of when it can no longer be used, not just with what will happen while it's being used. Electronic equipment in general is hard to dispose of safely.

I know I'm being stupid but who would want to get rid of a DDR machine?

I'm not saying when it's gotten rid of, I'm saying when it has been used to the point that every part is broken, and it can't be used anymore. I realize that nobody in their right mind would get rid of a DDR machine.

Here's the thing though...
We have the technology. We can rebuild it. We can make it faster, stronger, etc.

The broken beyond being reusable parts still get thrown away, since not everything can be repaired, and when the specific parts that have the mercury in them are thrown away, they end up in a landfill where they can leach into groundwater, which is what the directive tries to prevent.
Anway, enough of this, back on topic. DDR X JP will have tons of stuff, US will come out a bit sooner, but have slightly less, and EU will come out a year late with less than the US. Players that get the US version will spend a couple months making simfiles and playing the game while those who don't whine about it being delayed. Those who get the JP version will crow about how cool it is. Nobody will get the EU version, as by the time it comes out, everybody will have caved and ordered the JP or US version, and decided they can live without the EU licenses.
We'll have arguments about whether the new 10 footers top the current hardest songs and whine about the misratings made by some overworked developer at 3 AM.
Somebody will post that we'll all be lining up at the hospital after attempting the new hardest song, but he'll be exaggerating (I hope).
Some people will drift away from DDR, some new people will join. We'll have threads discussing what will be in DDR X2 (where x2 will be the default modifier, get it?). While we sniffle at the loved songs that weren't put in DDR X.
Am I forgetting anything in my predictions?

Well...if the boss songs are going to be harder, make everything else harder, too. I don't understand Konami's logic behind the insane PHO and PRO mixed with easy as hell "8's" and few 9's.
