What I meant to say was that it flowed well in terms of rhythm. Like most of the X-specials, double stepping seems to be a big thing. After a certain point though, the double stepping occurs once or twice. Then the step patterns go weird after the slowdown with, as you said, awkward positioning after the fast jumps.

At least it's not MAX 300 (X-Special).

I thought the original was fine. The X-Special is a tad better though.

Paranoia Rebirth XS is a great chart. Lots of fun to play. I really like the creativity they did with the cross over freezes near the end. All the jacks and double steps fit fine to me. I'm sure if you learn the chart very well you can do spins as well

Afronova is overall a great chart. Personally I dont like to begin a song with 2 streams of long jacks but besides that the chart is great. Notice how i got 2 greats on Afronova and both were in the beginning jack?

i'll join you at the top as well Dr D. i'm representing the USA from Okinawa, Japan. i only got to play course 2 difficult one time and ended #30, but now i'm like 41. i'll practice a bit and should be able to be in the 97%. i'm just happy to find myself on the rankings list and slowly climbing. i think if i played every single song on every difficulty i'll be in the top 100-200. the best okinawan that i know is SKA! but when we compete it's a 50-50 on who will win.

Meh, I dunno about you guys, but from what I've seen, some of these charts aren't all that great. It seems they severely whored out the Afronova walk. The Maxes are just spammy. They could have created alternative 15-17 range steps without being dumb, just look at Max 300 SMMM Challenge. It's considerably harder than Expert, but they're not stupid.

Of course, atleast they're trying and giving us new, harder charts. We've all always asked for new charts for old songs and we're getting them. Though, I wish they would give us new charts for old songs that were 5-8 range, especially when the song obviously warrants a harder chart (Un Deux Trois, Murmur Twins, Tierra Beuna, etc).

Hell, even the murmur twins chart from Universe 3 would be a welcome addition.

un deux trois and murmur twins have 9 and 10 foot oni charts(old scale) already, blame konami for not including them. also SMMM oni IS stupid. what the hell is up with all those jumps in the first half? the runs ending in double taps in the second half? that freeze section that serves no purpose and disrupts the flow of the chart? its dumb, the heavy steps are better.

The jumps in SMMM Oni are tough, but they're not that much worse than Drop Out's jumps. I can almost do SMMM Oni (without bar), I just get too tired by the end. Remember, people thought Afronova was ridiculous at one point ;)

As for Tierra Buena, it could really use the Color's Oni treatmeant. Dum dum-dum-dum dum, dum dum-dum-dum dum, dum dum-dum-dum dum, dum dum dum!

But the point remains the same, I think a lot of us would appreciate new charts for songs other than the bosses. Did we really need harder Maxes? How about Shades of Grey? I could go for a harder Sexy Planet Challenge. Doubles has shown e-motion could have a better chart.

they're 60 BPM faster(from 260 to 320), and they follow no particular pattern unlike drop out. the jumps are much harder. i've AAed it, that doesnt change the fact that the chart is retarded.

afronova was ridiculous because before 3rd mix the hardest song was PMDM. jumping from PMDM to afronova, paranoia rebirth, dead end, captian jack, grad cyber, etc(because most people didnt play club version), it was a hell of a jump. the club version 9s were actually a smooth transition from 8 to 9, the 3rd mix 9s were not.

compare to what we have now, compared to PSMO and max.(period), SMMM oni wasnt completely ridiculous(keep in mind strike came out before SN1, so we hadnt seen FAXX, FELM, or HDV yet when SMMM oni was new). its got stupid step patterns, but it wasnt anything we didnt know how to handle like back when afronova was new.
