Z-I-v Summer Contest 2021

All right, may as well go for posting my last file of the main ten weeks. Glad I stuck it out, there had been differing amounts of personal drive to make my files along the way, but these last few feel like they've picked up my mojo a bit again, so I'll take it!

What a fun weird song this is. I hadn't realized how many BPM changes there were, as well as the fact that it essentially blue-notes itself halfway through in the 4/4 arrow setup, so I had to get a li'l creative in keeping things organized the best way. I hope you enjoy the ride, just like all my other wacky creations!

We have reached the deadline for Week 10, the last official week of the z-I-v Summer Contest 2021! For the next two weeks, you will be voting on Week 9 (if you haven't already) and Week 10.

Other than that, it has been an entertaining Summer Contest. I look forward to what's in store for the VIP round (and making it in there if I could) and I hope all of you enjoyed it. Congratulations to RaverAce for the victory! This has certainly been a great contest so far, and I've enjoyed all the weeks that I bothered to actually play all the files and vote on. I know I probably should have voted this week since I would have gotten second, but I've decided that I need to take a break from submitting files for now since I want to work on an upcoming project without any deadlines.
I look forward to seeing all of the files in VIP Room since I do plan on voting for that, and I look forward to participating in future contests!

So this concludes the main contest! The theme for VIP Week 1 will begin once the theme for it has been revealed and the results for Week 10 are out. Before we get into that, though, I wanted to mention important changes to how scoring will be handled in the VIP round.

Starting with VIP Week 1, the outlier system will be completely dropped. From here on, that will be handled similarly to Battle Royale 2021.

Speaking of BR 2021, from here on, VIP round, and only VIP round, will use an updated Battle Royale scoring system. This means instead of points based on Top 10 position, you will instead receive points based on how much higher your file's average score is compared to the median of all average file scores that week.

Yes, the cutoff line for receiving points is now the median rather than the average of all file scores. Seeing how we now calculate average scores with 2 decimal places, your file will receive 1 point for every .01 above the median.

So, for example, say one week your file received an average score of 7.59. If the median of all average file scores that week was 7.31, you would receive 28 points.
