If you're using FL Studio to cut, remember that it adds on a 40ms bit of silence to the beginning of the vid for NO REAL REASON.

Or on my one, 30ms. Hmm.

I used Audacity and the parts where I cut the song were right after the slowdown and about 12 seconds/8 measures after the gallops before the end section, so if there seem to be sync jumps in thoses places that could be why.

I never thought of using FL Studio to cut songs, and I might use that from now on (for the few songs I do cut), since it's likely much easier than lining up a click track with the song offset in Audacity then lining up the selection with that click track (after figuring out where to cut it).

It's a great tool for cutting. If you know how to use it. But it's not that hot with variable BPMs, unless they're all simple multiples of each other.

Don't worry, as long as it isn't the same pattern for the entire song (I'm looking at YOU, Mr. Left-Down-Up-Right IIDXsucker8, because you were banned harharhar).

Random notes: this week was pretty.fucking. awful. Sans Logique won me, if for no other reason than that it had a sensible hardest difficulty. (Didn't hurt that the song was attractive, too ) I graded the rest after throwing out my impressions of each one's hardest chart and concentrating on the second hardest.

Notable mentions are:
Straight Up, whose S-Oni has 16ths where there are definitely not 16ths;
The Final Countdown, with an S-Std that begins an entire half beat off and doesn't resolve until after that crazy strange stop; and
Speed Demon, whose S-Heavy is a 9 like Trip Machine PhoeniX's S-Heavy is a 9. Take four crossovers and call me in the morning.

guys, I just went back from a very long month of hectic schedule at work..how do you participate here? Interested in joining =) I got some simfiles not yest released that I can participate in this contest

A new theme is announced at the start of every week and you make a simfile based on the theme.

Example: Week One's theme was "DDR Edit." In this theme, you were supposed to pick out a song that appeared in any official ddr game and make your own stepcharts for it.

After you have completed your simfile, you ask permission to get upload rights to upload it onto the simfile category. The simfile must be completed when uploaded or else it will be deleted.

The following week, we vote on the simfiles that were submitted, while working on the theme for the second week. Week 2 was "Video Game Remix," so you would have submitted a simfile with that theme in mind while voting/judging simfiles from Week One.

On week three, the theme is announced and the winner from week one is declared.

voting is as follows:

most favorite simfile - 3 points
second favorite simfile - 2 points
third favorite simfile - 1 point



It may sound a little confusing at first, but it's very easy to get the hang of it. Refer to the first post for more rules and upcoming themes.
