DDR X2 (AC) (International)

I got back from my first night playing X2.

I was with atamax and KK. I have lots to say and will soon.

I got some pictures tonight and a few videos.

Pictures should be up soon and vids maybe an hour or so.

They need to stop letting the Universe crew make graphics. Not that they're bad, but the Japan team's stuff is just so much better, and they seem to have more than 3 fonts installed.

The video quality will be good at most parts yet really terrible at others for second heaven. I had my camera in my bookback for these videos so the focusing was hard. You should be able to make out the steps for them both though. I have a so so quality video for daziling darling on SD (btw DD is a 13, i think i saw someone said it was a 12)but kinda want to wait for better quality. After today I learned how to improve the videos and hopefully tomorrow I will have lots of great videos.

Just a quick thing before I give a review. I only played 1 time tonight haha. I probably will only play a few tomorrow. Its ok though cause when Im not playing I can still manage to take videos. Too bad though cause I wont be the one in my own videos though. Which has been too bad so far cause everyone I taped so far has trouble passing some of these songs (took 3 tries till someone passed second heaven for me)

And this is what I can say about the 3 songs I played so far.

Gotta Dance: Well you should all know this from x2 CS. I choose it first cause I really like it. I PFCed it with 20 perfects. This tells me that the sync is good and machine registers well.

Smooooch: I really really love this. Its best described if you imagine something like sweet sweet heart magic only better. The steps fit the music very well. Some triple taps and a few 16 note sets but nothing too hard. Long and enjoyable with a good sync.

Second heaven: I wasnt really feeling this one. Most of it is due probably cause it has a TERRIBLY late sync forcing you to step late and i mean VERY late. Im sure this will be fix by final released but this is how it is now. Anyways, steps get really tricky forcing you to do some cross over 16th notes that will preset you to hit the next small stream of cross over 16th notes. Lots of crossing over and quite a bit of hitting and ending short streams with off beats. Really tricky.


You do not have a choice in your dancer (at least in loc test).

Menu timers are very short. New graphics for the song banners look really tight. If you go to DDR X folder there wont be any banners and there`s a sign saying that they are be work on now.

I`ll have much more to say later. Especially after an entire day playing tomorrow. Expect some nice videos coming.

Second Heaven looks pretty fun. But yeah, you can REALLY tell the bad sync from the video .

POSSESSION sounds hot, man you are so damn lucky Dr. D, keep up the good vids!

The Possession video shows the BG animation really well. Look at the BG of the song wheel after the results screen. Looks sweeeet.

On the aspect ratios: stretching would look awful, especially in smooch lol. But leaving part of the arrows/step zone in the black part is retarded. I honestly think they should have -something- filling in the opposite side of the screen, like IIDX does, so videos can stay in 4:3. It doesn't have to be a score graph but anything would be better than the current situation.

Dr.D, you're awesome, thanks for the media so far - it'd be awesome if you could get the rest of the new songs and maybe the rest of the interface. :D

Hmm, Second Heaven looks to have a fair amount of double stepping. Looks a little awkward.

on ESPN HD sometimes when they are showing SD footage they will take the sides of the video and duplicate them on ether side of the screen. kinda hard to understand but basically without redoing a 4:3 video in 16:9 there is no nonsquashed way for it to take up the whole screen unless you crop ;/

I think a lot of it is spins, but yeah, I can see lots of parts where you need to doublestep.

Ahaha that method makes stuff look really weird - but I'd rather crop/reverse pan'n'scan

I was dead shock to see Second Heaven, Dazzlin Darlin, and even Smoooooch into X2.

The 8-9 (old DDR rating) Heavy chart for Second Heaven looks difficult~ Obviously pointing to the step patterns. So umm... If I have to play DDR again, i'll be playing that in Standard.

Possession's beginigng part of the doubles-chart looks... Fun.
