You forgot Himawari, Witch Doctor and Waka Laka!
failure.
witch doctor isnt on X AC.
waka laka isnt on X, and is on ultramix 3.
himawari is an ultramix song, ultramix 3 IIRC. this came out well before SN where so many people pretend it debuted so that they can like a good song but still hate on ultramix titles and say they have no good material.
you failed on all 3 songs, good job.
edit- upon checking a songlist, i noticed himawari isnt on X either. way to pick 3 songs that arent even on the game to claim he forgot.

I love the feuds between the Xbox players and the PS2 players. The PS2 players ALWAYS seem to get completely ticked when the Xbox games get songs that they dont (Bye Bye Baby Balloon, Butterfly, Waka Laka) but it's never the other way around when the PS2 gets 90% of the Dancemania songs.

You know what would suck?If the PS2/PS3 version get's the songs from THEIR past titles, while the 360 version of Vol. 1 gets songs from THEIR past titles, giving them more leeway on some of the GOOD classic songs from 1st - 5th mix

i dont think that will happen. first of all, the US versions dont include 1st-5th. you're basically looking at dance dance revolution and konamix as your PS1 titles, with max, max2, extreme, extreme 2, SN, SN2, and X as your PS2 titles, since i doubt they will include anything from disney mix or DCE. as such, you basically described party collection, it got awesome 1st-5th licenses(R&P, moonlight shadow, conga feeling, butterfly, get up 'n move, captain jack, etc), but we wont see anything like that from early games as our early games only include 1 that had licenses(again, not counting disney mix).
second, i think that konami listens more than they let on. they are doing this because of what someone else said about complaints. we figured out a long time ago that they wont repeat licenses, then we figured out that a license is going to stay on the console it made its US debut on. i think they are doing this so the xbox players get captain jack, cartoon heroes, so deep etc and the PS2 users get moonlight shadow, dam dariram, bye bye baby balloon, butterfly, waka laka, etc, and it will all be one one game for everyone to enjoy.

Do X-Specials and Groove Radar charts really count as extra songs? Really now, they're just old songs with new steps.

Pie's list could easily be a great catch-up DDR game if it was ever made, including the revivals for the specials.

If you add the original songs for the X-Specials and GRS's, plus a little bit of new stuff (Just a bit), then definitely!

I still think having DLC like Rock Band would solve all our mix problems, then Konami could focus on other things such as making new step charts, a new 1P mode, or innovative feature that makes the game fresh again.

"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
There's no way that *all* of the really good songs, from each of the "DDR Worlds" is going to make it in one title. Hence the "Vol. 1" tag. I mean, just how many DDR eras are we considering here?
The "classic" era:
Pretty much solid Dancemania, with other "original" songs being mostly by NAOKI or U1. IIRC, Thomas Howard, in 3rd Mix, was the first officially "commissioned" DDRtist.
The "offbeat" era:
DDR Club Version, Solo, Korean 3rd, and the first Disney's Rave all fall here. Not quite "the main series," but titles of significant influence as well. Early Dancing Stage games, such as TKD, DCT, and EuroMix probably fit here, as well.
The "in-house" era:
DDR 4th through DDRMAX 2 still had a solid Dancemania package/focus, but the amount of commissioned work increased, and many songs were cross-ported between DDR and IIDX. Hence, early BeForU and SOTA/SySF work, for instance.
The "crossover" era:
DDR EXTREME began this trend, that continued to be a tremendous influence on the Ultramix series; porting songs from other Bemani games. The focus on Dancemania began to fade at this point, and in UM, A Different Drum began their reign of influence, however "alternative" you take that to be.
The "console" era:
More a continuation than an era of itself; console-developed DDRs continued the focus between Bemani crossovers, and more new commissioned artists; EXTREME 2-slash-DDR STR!KE and SuperNOVA being perfect examples of this. For instance, consider how much influence nc or Akira Yamaoka had around then. Chart pop music began to be featured more often along with covers thereof, and the annual Broadjam contest began it's term of influence. This also had more licensed region-sharing song ports than any other.
The "commission" era:
This, I believe is where Hottest Party and X are most relevantly displayed; it's basically the changing of the times again. Perhaps this is a dividing point between the Universe series (which ironically features songs like Kind Lady and matsuri JAPAN, as well as a couple of Orange Lounge songs - ALL DROPPED FROM X), in which Universe 3 is more in tune with past titles as far as song selection and stepchart design are concerned.
Meanwhile, the bulk of songs and remixes featured on HP 2/X are tracks by TERRA, Bill Hamel, Drew Campbell/DKC Crew, Jena Rose, Tommie Sunshine, etc. Even Ozomatli (of "Here We Go" fame) was behind the Slip Out remix. Most of the pop music featured (in fact, save for only a handful of tracks, each mix) were by indie bands. SuperNOVA 2, I believe, was the turning point towards this era, but not -entirely- there, as it had considerably more "pop music" influence about it.
As far as Hottest Party titles and their heavy cover focus, I think that has more to do with the Wii's sound hardware than anything else. It's like trying to write/recreate pop music on Mario Paint, or something.
So how do you take the best of, essentially six generations of DDR, and batch them together effectively? And in any way that's better than what's been accomplished in existing games? (JP EXTREME, US EXTREME 2, DS MAX, STR!KE, ULTRAMIX 2~3, and SuperNOVA instantly come to mind, here.) Not to mention regional and inter-system counterparts, and the occasional alternative mix like Disney Channel.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think that kind of generous amount of "balanced influence" is exactly what makes most of those fan-favorite mixes so fan-favorite!
__________
Personally, I'm hoping they do something like 10 top-notch songs from each era, 12 from up-and-coming titles (one nonstop course apiece), and 8 themed mixes (like Xmixes, whatever they're calling it); with one to two boss songs from each generation.

Also, same with SN1. I'd bundle that into the same category.

In terms of BEMANI games, they must be taking the laziest approach to DDR. No other game has that many BEMANI crossovers.

I find it quite surprising really. I'd think that the keysounded Bemani games would have more crossovers since those tracks must take a lot more work.

Lately though, Konami's been very stingy with Bemani crossovers in DDR. HP2 only had one (which was really a remix), X AC only had five, and Universe 3 had three new ones I think?
