I'm pretty sure every DDR song that CAN be revived has been revived at this point, save a couple of the more obscure crossovers and the rest of the Hottest Party stuff.

What is the technicality involved here? I’m guessing copyrights but I’m confused when Naoki’s songs are still on DDR yet Sota is still with Bemani.

As far as Kind Lady (And probably a few other songs) I think the issue lies with the vocalist.

That doesn't explain why Forever Sunshine is still in the game though. I've always thought things like revivals and crossovers were almost always up to the composer (which could explain why good-cool dissapeared from the whole series since Supernova)

That said, I wonder why Konami or whoever is in charge of adding songs to the games crossed over songs like the Max 2 exclusive songs and those remixes that were exclusive to CD releases (like that awesome trance remix of Kind Lady)

I believe it's not about the vocalist but more so Johnny Dynamite who wrote the lyrics for the song. I think there's a copyright issue with him

Then why is So In Love still around, since he wrote the lyrics to that song?

there's probably another reason to that (perhaps personal, sound director's choice, etc) besides licensing issues with songs, not to mention licensing issues can be inconsistent as well anyways (see: Ebony Fay's pre-MAX2 songs aren't in current releases)

I think there were some licensing issues that happened behind the scenes circa 2008-2010 (a lot got removed from IIDX and pop'n around then as well) and, presumably, deals were brokered to keep certain songs in specific games. Like how many of Reo Nagumo's pre-5th mix songs are still in IIDX, but all of his songs got removed from DDR.

This is obviously just conjecture, but I feel like this is a reasonable assumption, considering how few non-licensed songs have been removed since X.
