"five minute white boy challenge"
paranoia ksket + innocence of silence

how are those two connected in any fucking way, do they just flick through the song wheel and think 'sure why not'? these could have relevant themes, it'd make it SLIGHTLY interesting

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Maybe with a "boss song" in the daily selection we will get another one for this mix? I still hope for Concertino in Blue to make it to AC but that's just wishful thinking.

"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana"

If this really is basically the end of DDR, and there certainly are signs that it could be, then it's a pretty sad way to go out. I'm not sad at the fact that it's ending so much as I'm sad that it's ending in such an anti-climactic way. DDR has left an amazing legacy on the gaming industry and managed to become a part of pop culture in both the West and Japan. It's pretty awe-inspiring that a game-series that has seen no substantial gameplay changes throughout its lifespan has lasted over 15 years and accomplished so much...

...which is why it's pretty sad that we're sitting here watching Konami holding lazily-thrown together events to unlock CS songs that have been around for years, all the while waiting for what seems to be the inevitable day when the updates stop coming at all. It's understandable that DDR has probably either become unprofitable or makes so little profit that it's not worth the effort to keep up, but for the sake of the fans and to honor the game's legacy, it would be nice for Konami to give the DDR team a decent budget with which to give DDR a proper final sendoff, something that accomplishes what EXTREME was able to do in satisfying players for years after the series had stopped.

Yeah, if it is ending id like a "final event" at the very least.

I agree! I know a lot of people say Extreme wasn't the absolute best or doesn't hold up as well anymore but Extreme was/is all over the place! When I truly got into DDR in 2003, Extreme was the arcade game I rocked (before that, it was Konamix at home) so I have fond memories of it, just like many people do. It's got a pretty consistently great song list in my opinion and I just feel that's been lacking lately with these recent releases no matter how many songs they toss into new DDR mixes. I'm still sour about the whole ITG/RoXor thing too...if they were still around, I wouldn't be so sad about whatever is going on with DDR. It's part of the reason I moved over to Pump It Up.

I mean...they could really have something great here with this supposed final iteration of DDR. They said they wanted to release new songs, boss songs, interfaces every so many months and stuff and that could be pretty sweet if they listened to the fans and gave us what we desired! Even simple stuff like finally throwing in Max. (period) or even having a poll of what songs we'd like to have released in an upcoming update...even if it was us having to choose from a selection they offered us and not just us naming any and every song we can think of lol. I liked the idea of this "final DDR" being able to remain fresh through interface updates and periodical song releases but now, I don't know...I suppose it's still a little early to be giving up hope though.

How come other games seem to get tons of releases and stuff though like beatmaniaIIDX, Reflec Beat, and the newer Sound Voltex? It's like every year, there's a new one but not so much with DDR. I assume those cabinets might be a little cheaper to produce but with DDR 2013/2014, that problem should be mainly taken care of now since all they really have to consider is new songs/features/interfaces to update the machines with rather than worry about new hardware.
If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

They could do like Dance Wars and start an event about people playing DDR forever together and then say good bye right after it's over.

max. period or bust.

and honestly it really does seem like DDR is dying; there is very little interest for it anymore in japan. but why would there be any interest anymore? DDR is long past it's time. there's sound voltex, iidx, taiko, maimai, groove coaster, reflec beat; all of these newer + more appealing rhythm games compared to DDR. they have newer songs, anime theme songs, things that people want.

DDR was a thing back when there wasn't many rhythm games in japan (not that many as in there was pretty much only bemani and a few others like ez2dj + pump it up, not sure if there's others) now that there's several (which in my opinion some of them are FAR better then DDR) then it's no wonder that these games are beating DDR by a longshot.

DDR is also dead in the west; nobody wants to play it. seriously. even if it's DDR 2014, people still don't want to. whereas people are gladly ready to try out jubeat or taiko or some other cool game at bemani invasion conventions. (there are LONG LINES for jubeat at bemani invasion's booths, whereas there's few people playing DDR)

itt; DDR is dying is because of the of newer + better rhythm games, in japan at least. DDR's long dead over here.

DDR needs a fresh coat of paint right about now. Much like what SuperNOVA did or what X tried to do and ended up failing and what X2 really did. X2 was pretty much the perfect way to do a DDR game IMO. Good license songs, good OG content , crossovers that had Bemani fans excited for, hard and challenging boss songs, fun charts, a good interface, like X2 had it all.

I get the idea of having just updates on arcade cabs and calling that a mix, and DDR 2013 had a good start and the hype to be something fantastic but just kind of faded out over time. I just think it's weird that they have this major update for this year and then hardly do anything with it. I think it could really be accepted if they really put the effort behind it like they have with Reflec Beat and IIDX. Was Tag the director for X2? If he started on X3 then yeah I think he needs to go and give the job to someone else. It felt like to me X3 was the start of the decline but even that game had some redeemable things to it. Hell it's almost as if DDR's soul was lost once NAOKI left Konami. Who knows, maybe it has. Confused

I do agree that there's better music games now but I just have a hard time thinking that DDR in Japan is unprofitable now. I just think DDR needs to find a reason for people to get excited about it again. Lets face it, no one is forming at the mouth for 6 year content that's not even good coming to arcades and being advertised as new.

Well, if DDR really is dying, then soon there will be no point of me using this forum anymore besides looking to see if someone has made a simfile for a random song I like. DDR news was the number one reason why I joined in the first place.

All of these other cute little rhythm games just don't interest me like DDR has; I don't know what it is (/opinion).

I personally wouldn't get my hopes too high for some sort of final event of sorts. A part of me honestly does sense just like, the worst ending for this possible. So no Max.(period), no new unique boss song, etc. It's just gonna stop, and they'll try to kick it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist. I'm picturing the only way it'll have any possible way of surviving is through this site.

Pandemonium I do agree with that. I think x2 was such a great game and was extremely pissed thr the console version of it sucked compared to it. Even DDR II could have done more with replicant d action but it didn't. With x2, there wasn't just new songs added through pointless events. It actually had a mini campaign to the game, and I felt honestly amazing the first time I got to and cleared Valkyrie dimension. I want to experience that feeling of pure greatness and pleasure and like there's something about this game that makes me want to keep going and try to conquer everything. Now, it just seems like this DDR is sloppily made. Barely any boss songs that are likeable in 2014. Ddr 2013 had some good content and had something going for it, but it got ruined. I would like to see konami redeem themselves and just implement something that will blow us all away and give us back that feeling of pleasure we got from EXTREME, X2 and the other ddr games that we know and loved
DDR is awesome! (:

Sorry but almost your entire post is bullshit, why are you guys letting this slide? (bolding also mine)

When's the last time you've been in Japan and which arcades and which hours?

In the west we seem to have a conception that there isn't a large overlap between DDR players and other bemani games. Believe it or not this is also a thing in Japan, from what I could see with lines and player movement, so REFLEC BEAT having J-Pop licenses isn't going to cause somebody to not play DDR.
