Is there any news on what if anything you get if you were ranked in a course? In DDR X if you got top 20 or 30 you get some special medal for the IR course. I finished 4th in one of them and wondering if I'll get anything.
Yes there is:Congratulations on earning yourself a Silver Crown!
And by the way, you also got a Bronze Crown for the rank you got on Revival course.
Does that mean they have images of the other characters with a crown on if you play on them?

ZETA looks like the kind of 15 I could nearly beat and/or have fun attempting to clear it (unlike Unreal, Paranoia Hades, and Trip Machine Phoenix). The only part that was even close to how I expected it was the part right after the slowdown, but I'm glad that was the case, because I realize I wasn't imagining something that'd be a 15.

Right now, the 200,000 people who made stepcharts for VANESSA are going, "lol i made a better chart than that konami sux," yet I like the crossovers and nova-walks more than the spamming of 12th runs of death other people were doing.
ZETA looks like something I could do... if I had access to a X2 machine. >.>
every chart that ive played for vanessa has been absolute trash. i feel better about this oneZETA looks like something I could do... if I had access to a X2 machine. >.>

If it had been 3y3s, then I think we might have had a debate on our hands, but Konami's Vanessa chart is fun as hell, and easily better than any of the 2138012380 SM files that came before it.

and basing on DDR X2's song list..Konami might have checked online simfile hosting sites like here and bemanistyle to check on indemand songs for stepmania..which eventually decided to include on this version..we can't deny that there are lots of IIDX songs that were used for simfile making (Smoooch, 2nd Heaven, Vanessa, et.al) so a better way to make X2 work for the players and fans is to include them..and they won't anymore think about licensing since the songs are theirs in the first place..

Why aren't there any new decent GFDM crossovers yet?

I think X2 could use one or two new Asaki songs, Gekkou Chou and Konoko were pretty cool in SN1. Hotaru and Akai Suzu in DDR would be absolutely hot.

Here's a video from the New Jersey location test:
As you can see, the sync drifts insanely off, as people have mentioned. I just didn't think it was that bad.
Oh please, KONAMI, you must fix this for the release. The game is almost there, the sync appears to be the last game-breaking issue.

Wow...sync is terrible. But I have confidence in Konami. It'll be fixed for the final release.
ZETA is a 14. If Roppongi EVOLVED is a 15, then ZETA just isn't hard enough to be a 15. I'd have a harder time with Para Survivor than that.
VANESSA...it's beautiful. Definetly 16 territory. Yay 12ths! Glad to see more complex patters and notes other than EXTREMELY FAST 8TH NOTES OMG!

The game is definitely on sync however because of the drifting its hard to find the timing window. In songs that didn't drift I easily achieved low perfect count PFC's.

I agree, the sync drift is ridiculous.

I played a few credits on one of the UK test loke machines on Weds morning (after a refreshing 10k jog to get there), the one with the"new" pad (I'm not sure how much is allowed to be said about the test loke machines at the mo - please edit/delete if I've overstepped the boundaries here, but just wanted to express my opinions).
Initial impressions
On the whole, I like it! The game interface, especially, works for me. It's what the DDR series should have done years ago, really.
The pad is a vast improvement over the DDRX pads, they feel more solid and don't shake around heavily when playing (made of metal, yeeeeeah) and are a damn sight more responsive. I wonder how well they will last - hopefully they will last well, but who knows.
However, many of the songs are significantly off-sync (not sure if it's sync drift or glbal off-syncedness on certain songs), especially older songs (I managed to get about 230 greats on Dead End, which was quite a feat) - a number of new songs were totally fine, though. And on the other hand, I'm sure Burning Heat is BETTER synced than I've ever played it before, so I guess YMMV. Hopefully this is something that will be sorted out before final release?
Also, the choice between Raku and Geki modes (I don't remember the precise phrases used on the machine, just that it had the kanji for those two) isn't very clear - Raku mode seems to be the equivalent of Beginner Mode on SuperNOVA 2 etc., but with extremely limited difficulty levels, bit of a bummer if you pick the mode by accident (and from the wording I did wonder if Geki mode was a nonstop/Oni or something, since it said something like "dance continously").
Anyway, all in all I'm pretty excited about the game. Looking forward to seeing the final release (and hope it comes to an arcade near me)!
