Yknow, I find PR to be kinda like FAXX, I just can't beat one part of the song, the ending. Dunno why, but I just can't.
I know why. It's because the rest of the song is a 9 (old rating), comparable to Afronova, or HVAM. Anybody that can do Afronova or HVAM should have little trouble getting to the end runs of PR.
If you put it that way, I picture it more like Disconnected from ITG rather than Afronova/HVAM.

I remember reading somewhere that Konami was working on a new kind of softpad that was supposed to be better than the ones they've always made. Has anyone who has bought the X bundle noticed a higher-quality pad? I wish they made them like the PIU softpads for the US game, the quality of those was amazing.

Well I modded the one I got with the X bundle myself. Seems ok for a soft pad so far.

Has the copyright of 2003 on it too. So I think this one is the redesign they did for around Max2 japan release.

In fact, at the BPM it's running on, it's a good chart to use as practice for anyone who wants to clear Pandemonium Challenge on ITG.
ROFL. XD. LMAO. Only in the sense that a 6 footer is good practice for anyone who wants to clear a 10 footer.
Hate to be the one to explain the basics to you, but learning trills on two panels will only get you the beginning and ending of Pandemonium. Even when you can FC _______, you'll still be a long way from doing well on the constant candles and step jumps in the middle of Pandemonium.

Hence the word, practice.

It's used for practice. You perfect those trills and you should have little problem with the ones in Pandy. Then you slow down Pluto Relinquish Heavy and practice the ending for the uber stream in the middle, followed by slowing down FELM Challenge and practicing the step-jumps.

In other words, I'm talking about being able to move at that speed at a constant rate. I'm not comparing anything other than the trills.

Quote: NIQ9
X mix 5 doubles should definitely NOT be an 18. There's only one hard part, and it's only 4 measures of 8th notes at 400. They're candles, yes, but they're not crossovers.

And I think I want someone to play Xmix5 Heavy doubles before people start yelling for a rating change. That 8th stream can make you fail if you screw it up and the entire song IS over 3 minutes. Playing pieces of 7 boss songs on Heavy doubles is stamina draining.

Quote: NIQ9
Trigger oni (singles) is also a 16 (maybe 17) at best.

Trigger Challenge not an 18? Really though? Fast jumps, sudden stops, odd crossovers, nasty streams leading to freeze arrows and 16th taps at 200 BPM isn't worthy of 18 foot status?

I think someone is too pro for us folk who are unable to pass it. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the hardest chart to date but it's an 18 and a well-made 18.
The Heavens! The Earth! And a million squirrels call to me! Huh? What...they don't?

Anyways, I just thought I'd mention this. I went to WalMart the other day and DDR X was going for 69.99 O_O

How's that possible?
HAHAHAHA
LOW PRICES MY ASS.

Actually a few months ago a local TV station did a project by buying the same 5 items at several different stores. Target turned out to be the cheapest. (Of course, I used to work for them, but I still shop there...so many idiots think their prices don't "compare" with Wal-Mart's...but I beg to differ.)

69.99? that's pretty much what we pay up here for a new DDR. and generally those prices are at Microplay and EB Games. the lower prices are usually at Future Shop, Best Buy and those other stores. i find EB Games and Microplay only good if I am desperate to get a game and can't find it anywhere elseSmile

Keep in mind that I am referring to US dollars, no US store should be selling it for $69.99, but I guess in Canada that's probably close to $49.99 USD

but then again the dollars are really close and some things are dropping in price here. for example Wii Points Card is now 20$ instead of it's usual 25$.
also i just found the Canadian dollar price for DDR XBig Grin it's $49.99 at futureshop for the pad and game bundle and $29.99 game only. i think i will be making a trip to future shop this weekendSmile

no, its not a matter of being "too pro", its a matter of the chart not being worthy of 18 status. trigger is not FELMO, PRO, or PHO. its not even in the same league. i would say 16 would be much more accurate for trigger oni. isnt PSMO a 16? its just a tad harder than that, IMO.

Note: CheatCC is crap.

In reference to Konami getting you to buy each game, I think Universe 3 might be an ESSENTIAL for anyone with a 360, because it looks like it could be the best US release in DDR history.

I know! If they put some more licenses like "When I Grow Up", or "Don't Stop The Music", or "Disturbia" (etc, etc), then this game definitely be THE best in DDR US history!
Putting the Pussycat Skanks in a DDR would make it the worst release in US history. Having a Rihanna song would definitely help boost sales.

I do hope you know that Canadian Dollars have caught up to an almost 1CAD:1USD ratio with the US.

Oh and I also don't think that Trigger Oni is deserving of an 18 rating. 16 is a fair rating because it's just not as hard as PRO or FELMO.

Exactly. It's your opinion. It's my opinion that PSM Challenge is rated wrong. I don't think that PSM Challenge = MAXX Unlimited Heavy, PARANOiA Respect Heavy, or Trim Heavy. Maybe it's gotten to the point where people can pass PSM Challenge with little problem or it got overshadowed by the newer boss songs, but 8th stream crossovers at 290 BPM are still difficult to pull off. If CHAOS Challenge is a 17, I'd call PSM Challenge a 17.

It might not compare to FELM Challenge, PH Challenge, or PR Challenge, but what's the general opinion on those charts? They're poorly made; difficult for the sake of being difficult. Trigger Challenge isn't in the same league in terms of chart crappiness.

That's how I see it.

Actually, fromw hat I've seen of it,. Trigger seems to be in the same league as PRO and FELMO for being made with the sheer intent of being difficult, especially with the speed-up/slowdowns, etc. The slowdowns are ok, but the doubled speed parts don't seem to really fit, imo. I think koanmi is trying way to hard to make super difficult stuff.

Indeed, PSMO is more similar to PHE/H in difficulty.

Speed-changes shouldn't account for how hard a song actually is. The step patterns are relatively easier compared to PRO and FELMO.

I understand what you're saying, but speed changes and bpm pauses can throw you off until you really get used to the song, so I think they should account for a tiny bit of the difficulty. Esp, ones with bpm changes as frequent as Trigger.

ok, here's a bit more on the ratings issue...

X mix 5 doubles... 18 ---> 17 Stamina does not equal difficulty. ONE small stream doesn't mean the entire file deserves an 18 rating. I'll play this on ITG whenever I go again.

Chaos Oni... 17 ---> 15. It's rated a 17 because of the stops. I can guarantee that. Without the stops in account, it's a 15 for sure.

Trigger oni... 18 ---> 16 It's basically a 14 plus the ending. The ONLY hard part is the crossover stream, and it's like 1 measure. It's not enough to make you fail. I passed this on a sightread, and I haven't even passed PHO yet.

Saber Wing rmx oni... 17 ---> 16 pl0x. It's a really easy, then has a few short 8th crossover runs. if 17=11 on the old scale, this is definitely not one of them. This would be a 10 on ITG (an easy one at that), so 16 would be better.

On the Bounce oni... 16 ---> 15. This would be a really easy 10 on the ITG scale, so 15 seems right for this.

I'm sure there's more, but it's late, so I'm done for now

Trigger (Expert and Challenge) is a good song for practice if you want pass or get a full combo in Pluto Relinquish Wink
