At least OpenITG is a thing and it has a decent community outside of Asia, while DDR is almost DEAD outside of Asia aside from the occasional import. You wanna know how many 2014's there are in the UK? None. There's one 2013.

Is "giving up and getting all the simfiles on a Stepmania cabinet with some generic theme and no characters" the same thing as having access to 2013/2014? I guess there's technically a "2013" here. ;>_>

Isn't there like a small shred of hope for imported machines in the Round 1 locations in the US? Thought I read a few Round 1s would pop up in the US next and/or next-next year.

Still open to the idea of a sleep period and then they come back with DDR Ultranova in four years or something. Just because DDR shrivels up doesn't mean it can't come back when people get actually inspired instead of dragging their feet on content.

Round 1 in Chicago has a few quality machines, including PENDUAL, GITADORA, 2014, pop'n fantasia, and a few others. Here's hoping jubeat saucer fulfill and REFLEC BEAT groovin' make an appearance there, too.

Neither Round1 in Chicago nor Dallas have DDR because:

1. Company's warehouse/stock only consists of 2013/2014
2. Round1 hasn't paid for all the licensing to run the game in the US, which is probably much steeper than X3 (which can be found in the CA locations).

The newest version of DDR I have any access to is X3, and the newest before that was X1, and before that was SuperNOVA. I wish I was as lucky as those of you who have access to the latest mixes. Then again, I'm an old school kinda player, so I'm happy with EXTREME. Anything beyond that is mainly just a privilege to me.

I now have access to a semi-private machine with the "superdisc" installed, so I can play any of the 573 Digital Mixes (as long as they aren't obsolete i.e. 3rd, 4th). So far I can tell you that I, and all the people who come over when the owner has game parties have played Extreme the least. As we all have fond nostalgia for other mixes, that are in some ways better.

I only have a sub-standard JP EXTREME cabinet to play. Lucky Americans with their X mixes...
