If anyone needs my opinion, just find the nearest post by Pie and that's pretty much it. Why am I always quoting you.
Here's my commentary on Universe 3:
The Universe series seemed to have struggled after the glory of the Ultramix days, having a difficult time finding the sweet spot of songs and steps that made Ultramixes (2 and beyond) a lot of fun. Here, however, they've nailed it, with one of the best songlists on paper we've seen yet, and steps that I have to see more of to form an opinion. However, they haven't stopped the garbage trends of having a busy interface, irritating background videos (no excuse for this since screen filter graces X), awkward Vivid scroll colours that ignore the standard seen in all other DDR games (unconfirmed but highly suspected), and framerate issues which is ridiculous given the 360 is the most powerful console on which DDR has appeared.
On a plus note, the art isn't awful, but is rather inoffensive and, in some cases, pretty good. Though perplexing choices abound; a squid for deltaMAX? On a second plus note, they seem to have real triplets now, as opposed to this weird green arrow-yellow arrow crap they've been pulling for a while.
If we could somehow merge this into X AC...

Real triplets? Can you describe that? That part of your post has me confused.

The ONLY difference between the arrows on Xbox versions and PS2/AC versions IS:
The sequence of the 3 "inside panels" lighting up.
Compare: (PS2/Xbox)
On the beat (4th) - 3 - 0
1/16th after beat - 0 - 1
1/8th after beat - 1 - 2
1/16th before next beat - 2 - 3

EDIT: Quest Mode can have difficult challenges sometimes..
(Dark step zone, Stealth Arrows, Step on all arrows with MARVELOUS timing.)
So wait, the Challenge Mode bullshit has been merged with Quest Mode?(Dark step zone, Stealth Arrows, Step on all arrows with MARVELOUS timing.)

We all need to write Konami demanding that they start porting this shit to the arcade. It's a crime that they're not. Not only would these charts be more accessible, but maybe people could play them on a non-crap interface.
QFT.Some of the stuff from the Ultramix and Universe series I would LOVE to see in the arcade. Listen to your fanbase, Konami...when DDR X's successor is being made, include some of the content from UM4 and Uni1-3.

Back in at least Universe 1, possibly 2, triplets were rendered as a 32nd, then a 16th of all things, and some other miscellaneous quantization. While KONAMI's old pre-SuperNOVA2 method of 32nd/64th was pretty bad, the Universe approximation was absolutely laughable, it wasn't even close.I haven't played these songs yet, but at least on Note, they have the appearance of green arrows so they're at least not using a 16th in there anymore.

The ONLY difference between the arrows on Xbox versions and PS2/AC versions IS:
No, the colour cycle is different. After watching Universe 3 videos, I can still tell you it's different. And as someone who plays x1 Vivid, and can sight read just about anything based on Vivid colouring, this really messes me up. The "Vivid colour" of a 16th is so ingrained in me, for it to be anything else totally throws me off. I know very few people are in my position here, but it makes me suffer when playing Ultramix/Universe games, and switching between PS2 and XBox games is a nightmare for me. It's how I grew up playing the game, just how I work.
I don't understand why they don't just use the same Vivid colour scroll all other games use, there's no reason for this weird cycle they have. *Shrug*

Can L.A. Evolved be unlocked outside of quest mode? No one seems to be able to answer this question

Kinda doubtful. I don't know about Universe 3 yet, but in the previous Universe games, all songs could ONLY be unlocked through Quest Mode.

Also, I'm sure you can unlock L.A. Evolved through regular Game Mode, but IMO it's much easier to just do Quest Mode.
Oh, and a marvelous new dancer awaits you as your last challenge. Much like Queen in Universe.. but much much more.. O_o
Oh, and the hilarious thing? I'm pretty sure the Senses remix has THE EXACT SAME CHARTS FROM THE ORIGINAL.
Can anyone confirm this?

888 is THE most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on DDR. Hardest song evar? Dammit Konami, this isn't R21.

...I need the BPM to 888. Now.
Other than the fact that it looks incredibly hard, I don't think I saw a single crossover. I remember when even the crappiest charts at least had a good song (IMO) to go with it but this... you listen to it.

You must not have watched it closely, it has several crossovers. Starts out with one too.Other than the fact that it looks incredibly hard, I don't think I saw a single crossover. I remember when even the crappiest charts at least had a good song (IMO) to go with it but this... you listen to it.

It's a terrible song, like some crappy remix of FAXX and MAX.

Says 111-888, so 222 would be an educated guess. And this is Konami's idea of a 20, isn't it?
On another note, the Oni chart to Canned Heat is awesome. Well worth waiting for.
