Yep, I always use Shuffle
How come you do this?

She may use Shuffle because it keeps the same songs new and entertaining. What she may not know is that it's helping her sightreading when playing charts. Playing with shuffle can help her recognize different patterns without the need to figure them out on the spot in future songs.

She's been playing longer than me and can't play Heavy. She rants it's too hard.

No excuses.

Heavy xx Shuffle is pretty hard to learn. A lot of good Heavy charts rely on remembering logical sequences of manuevers, which can be shot with Shuffle; although once in awhile Shuffle can save an otherwise-garbage stepchart. But hey, there's a reason for a difficulty spectrum, not everybody has to become Heavy/Challenge pros.

Meanwhile, as somebody playing Heavy RDAs on foot, no-bar at arcades, I find that New Decade is practically the hardest of the bunch, shy of VD. Here's my breakdown of the big 4:

1: POSSESSION (I can "B" that. Incidentally, Pluto Relinquish Heavy is harder to me; but maybe it's because I can read 1/12s easily.)
2: Anti-Matter
3: New Decade (Low "C"s to High "D"s)
4: Valkeryie Dimension (kills me 30 seconds before the finish - legs get kinda lazy after the stop'n'gos)

(Also, I still think The First is the worst. As in PTF.)

Also, Second Heaven's video doesn't seem to match what's being sang. Is that intentional, or do I suck at understanding those lyrics there? D8

Nah, you're right, the lyrics and video don't match at all. It's always been that way, definitely intentional.

Yep, I always use Shuffle. oAo I should go ahead and record and/or take a screenie, huh?

I surprised myself, since I've been out of practice for so long. But it took like a million tries on my day off to even get that close, hahah. Let's stop diabetes with VD indeed. OTL That song alone, I might have lost a pound or two. Is POSSESSION one of the hardest? D8 Compared to songs like 888, or New Decade, or even Shiny World (despite the slow BPM!), POSSESSION is like a walk in the park. Okay, not really, but it "feels" easier. o_o; Won't touch challenge or expert, but the difficult chart is fun.

Also, Second Heaven's video doesn't seem to match what's being sang. Is that intentional, or do I suck at understanding those lyrics there? D8

Hah, and I've also softened my earlier harshness to long versions. SAY A PRAYER is the sole reason. I wouldn't want full versions to appear in the next DDR, but in this game, SAY A PRAYER redeems them all. oAo

Regarding screenshots, usually the community highly recommends proof if you, for example, keep bragging about getting a AAA on 888 challenge (DDRfreak573 coughcough). That's nice that you do shuffle though. BTW, I can't for the life of me figure out what oAo and OTL means, maybe it's because I'm not that up to speed on emoticons lol.
Second Heaven's video reminds me of a lot of DJ Max vids. If you look at "A Lie" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC2CNsYP8bE, it's basically a lyrics video. A very engrishy video. So maybe the almost incomprehensible lyrics could translate into the BG. Love long versions tbh, since I started playing workout mode recently, it's fun to play easier songs for minutes at a time for a break stage. Say a Prayer is easily one of my favorites to just listen to, Maxi Priest should just sell that on iTunes, pronto.

Quote: Fairy Red
Random change of subject, but I think I'm getting used to VD. I can nearly FC the Difficult chart, and have FC'd Beginner and Blue-FC'd Basic. I tried Expert and Challenge with a controller. Got D on both accounts. No way I'm ready to try THOSE on foot. o_o; VD and POSSESSION are the RDA songs I've gotten "better" at, for lack of better term. The rest are crazy hard still. OTL

VD sounds like a disease, lol. On a side note, I was playing Possession on basic, and it just killed my legs, even without the Standard up jumps. Still find it hard to walk right now Tongue It seems like you're ready for easier Heavy charts.

Quote: Aegis

Normally I would agree, but I've been playing for quite a while and I can only B/A 10s and 11s and barely pass 12s and 13s (on pad anyways.) I'd like to attribute this to only playing with a soft pad and not having too much time in the arcades (I usually only play a couple games a time every other month or so.)

Some of the responses on here could been viewed as desperate fans holding the files to ransom because the game isn't selling.
Just as a little aside from this, what sales figures did people honestly expect/want to see? I know it'd be foolish for everyone to instantly think it'd sell millions because the boat has well and truly left on that one, but I'm just wondering.

Not in the millions, but barely 2500 copies in the first two weeks. Maybe the numbers from last year's game would be suitable.
On a side note, I don't think DDR's going to die anytime soon. Once the main market for it disappears (at it had for GH) only then will DDR fade away in gaming oblivion. We're just a periphery demographic that got interested in what the Japanese was playing; now the Japanese will hold the fate of the franchise, as it always has.
I just came to say hello.

Well, there was a while back before I got my job when I could handle some of the experts in HP3. o_o; Kinda got out of practice after getting a job, though.

Yeah. Sometimes I redo songs over until I can FC it (how I FC'd VD Basic, constant retrying o_o), and I get bored if I'm redoing the same arrows. But I will keep it up if it can help me improve? D8 If I'm playing with my sister, I usually go Mirror, because my sisters don't really play with the arrows.

isn't "otl" like some oddball abbreviation for fainting, similar to "orz" and then oAo is just a curious face... taking a guess

People with DDR II simfiles have every right to hold them ransom, imo. They paid for the game (I'd hope); they would probably rather everyone else did, too. Even if you can't get the game, reason being not owning a Wii or whatever... that's life? :\ That's how Konami intended it, anyway.

Besides, most of DDR II is X2, and as already mentioned before, all of that is already up.

When are we going to see the simfiles for DDR II? Been waiting for them since the release of the game and getting just a little impatient Sad
1) Welcome to the site.

2) http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewthread.php?threadid=4398&page=1

3) You might have to wait just a bit more since HP5 is coming out soon in the Europe region, and seeing that we really want to SUPPORT KONAMI FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO THIS GAME BY BUYING THE GAME rather than playing it on Stepmania henceforth making Konami not turn a reasonable profit for this series which i really think there should be more wait at least until the end of the month to give out the simfiles just to give it a kick good kick start since release date.
Extreme emphasis on the third one. We need to promote purchasing DDR II as much as possible.

@DDRFanatik: Surely if you are that impatient for the simfiles you can go out to your nearest store that sells the game and purchase it for yourself, right? RIGHT!!??

Oh. In the ESRB's case a lot of American games have been confirmed when ratings have shown up on the their website.
The funniest part to me about the currently known rating for this game is it is the equivalent to Team Fortress 2's PEGI rating (when it's put that way it makes things even more twisted).

Honestly, its not usually like this unless we can tell someones going to be a troll or starts off on the wrong foot. Yeah, it happens sometimes but most people can pull it back together. The main reason for this was because we've had DDRFan573 (banned) begging for videos and trolling itt, we STILL have DDRFreak2011 (previously banned now being given a 7th chance) constantly nagging us about simfiles, and thats really put us on edge.
But otherwise, welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy your stay here Very Happy

No offense DDRFanatik...But the way you act and the fact that you're begging for the music rips...

Are you DDRFan573???

And if you are...Stop trolling, you're not helping and its so obvious that you don't give two sh*ts about what our plans are.

Its obvious we're trying to help support DDR II by not releasing the simfiles too soon, and the fact that DDR HP5 still needs to be released in the PAL regions.

I know that you don't have the necessary tools to rip the songs yourself...But you have no choice but to shut up, stop begging and be patient like the rest of us.

Play the game, or request songs on Pie's Youtube page, and if you're on Firefox and have the Youtube Downloader, then you can download the songs from his page yourself.

Thank you and have a nice day/afternoon/evening.

....cool story bro.

In some ways i didn't want the message to come off "badly", but with this game i would actually want Konami to get some profit from this game rather than people flock towards their computer, open SM, play all they want through the computer while Konami is sitting there thinking "Oh crud, another flopped DDR title, let's just bring Catherine back for the next game and see where this goes..."

Hostility has nothing to do with actually supporting an amazing DDR CS release this time around, besides YOU may simply want the simfiles to play on your laptop and to listen to them...which is dumbfounding me as to why you haven't found the wonders of Youtube yet since a lot of members here posted some good quality rips of the mp3's from DDR II, and i do understand not everyone has a Wii or they don't want to buy this game for some strange reason, but for those who do have it, give them the liberty to at least buy the game and support the company so that they can see that we REALLY like this game, like it so much we are willing to pull a "Shut up and take my money" deal for this game.

KKiONI also was not trying to be mean in anyway that i saw from the post, in fact we had no idea you already owned the game in the first place, welcome to the DDR II owners club, unfortunately releasing simfiles for a game you already own and for some strange reason you don't want to get up and play it on an OFFICIAL DDR game rather than a PC version that is a good mimick but doesn't quite compare to the official DDR engine.

He can't be DDRFan573. Give the poor guy a chance he's new, and I don't think he's trolling. He's just trying to be part of the community. I'm not being e-s-g here or anything, but give the guy a chance.

If you guys want to get technical about it ALL simfiles of official songs damage DDR's sales in general. Granted a lot of games aren't being sold new anymore, but Konami could still make money from the recent games.

Also, why do we need paragraphs to simply say "we are holding back on releasing the simfiles to promote sales of the game"? Methinks we fans often protest too much. Surely if the game is as good as we claim it will sell on its laurels and not on knee-jerk reactions from its fanbase?

Also as a European who can't even BUY the game yet, and who typically has to wait ages for releases anyway (if we even GET the game), I am particularly insulted by those essentially telling us to "go buy the game and play it if we are too impatient to wait for the files".

Again, I repeat: I'm not bothered when the files are released, just how some people are treating others on this issue.

Most of the really relevant songs are already available in the X2 arcade category anyways. Granted, I bought the game (and don't even own a Wii, either), and am really liking the Full Version stages, it'll all happen in due time. At least this time, the work is practically done and we don't have to worry about it actually taking forever and a half to even GET the data (remember DDR Universe 1-2, back when few/none of us had 360s? lol Or the first Hottest Party?).

Personally, I think the delay should go to Valentine's Day. Remember, not only is Xmas-gifting a factor, but so is the post-Xmas-trade-in factor. But simfiling isn't the only thing to blame for the sales. Another factor that's making this season tough for the DDR team:

Other game developers are getting their bite back. And all gamers only have SO BIG a budget. I can't remember the last time I saw a holiday season SO FULL of well-polished sequels and amazing titles. I know I'm looking forward to Sonic Generations, KoF XIII, SFxT, Skullgirls, and Dark Awake/Chaos Breaker, and there's plenty more good titles in there. That's to say nothing of the "ShooterMania 3" crowd which appears to be eclipsing the players right now (but admittedly, it's not ZombieShooterMania 3, at least).

There WILL be plenty of players picking up DDR II. Unfortunately, it just may take a season or two for it to take off.

____________________

(c/p from "Songs That Shouldn't Be Revived" in an attempt to stimulate non-simfile oriented conversation...)

I could go a lifetime without "Baby" and the like. But remember, it's not always like Konami pays to use licenses - it's quite likely/possible that a good number of these albums' studios are also paying for the in-game advertising it brings. Don't forget, that's where else DDR started - it was basically a playable, fun "commercial" for DanceMania. Only difference now is that it's aimed towards the pop sensations of the times. And this time, in spite of some of our more undergroundy tastes, they're actually really with the times, here. (Even if it DOES reek of Disney Channel Edition - or is it just me?)

Every time I think to myself, "Kids these days and their damned pop music sucks. Why can't it be like the 80s-90s with more rock and techno?", I feel more like an old fogey. You know, like grandparents now and their country/honky-tonk crap that sucked too; but in it's own unique kind of way. I know I'm 30 now, but I'M TOO YOUNG TO BE ONE OF THOSE!!

For instance, why wouldn't Vanilla Ice jump on board a hip-hop collab now? Not only is it a recession where he can't trust his main foundation (realty), it's also the first time in 25 years where both hip-hop and collaborations are "hip." Although Still Unbreakable sounds WAY more poppy than anything I'd expect of either VI -or- Des-ROW by a long shot! ...but that's not the point. The point is, he's a household name of hip-hop iconicness, now. It built (him/them), practically. Although personally, I'd like to see some of the TMNT 2 soundtrack in future releases - especially considering Konami's history with TMNT video games, and Ice's role in that movie. ;) (The movie may have sucked, but those tracks are killer.)

(start it about a minute in)

And consider the alternatives - at least this time they didn't go Rick Astley on us and stepchart "Friday" by Rebecca Black. Although all things considered - that could've worked quite perfectly after all. XD

EDIT: WOW. Did I just lose 50 points in the past 15 minutes?! Laughing Hard lol How do you even...?

Well, I just found out something about the Records tab, for yet another random subject change. o_o The game will tell you if you used a controller to achieve your high score. Which means I can't see my foot scores because I got higher scores with a controller. ._.

For example, here's Valkyrie dimension, my "highest" score for Difficult: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z183/Fairy-red-hime/Scores%20for%20DDR/6db52dc9.jpg?t=1320055726

See the big Wiimote sticker? I tried all the RDA songs with a controller before trying the Beginner/Basic/Difficult on foot. So, that score is shown instead. ._.;

Here's an example of my sister's score for Dazzlin' Darling on foot: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z183/Fairy-red-hime/Scores%20for%20DDR/bd4c67ab.jpg?t=1320055726

No Wiimote sticker. Augh. When I have time, I will go ahead and record a Difficult video. OTL So much for a screenshot for proof.

@Nightime I would love to see Ninja Rap in an upcoming DDR. It would be a very cool KC. yah know would it hurt Konami to do more KCs? I mean we've got songs from MGS, Castlevania, Contra and Twin Bee, but what about the other Konami games that are not Bemani?

Aren't there four profiles to pick from when entering Free Play Mode? Use one for controller scores, one for your foot scores, and one for your sister's scores, or something like that.

@Mr. Music, thank you for the welcome! Much appreciated Cool
And no, I'm not a troll or some douchebag that abuses people on forums. I would just like to get the official simfiles so I can get the MP3's on my iPod and play the songs on StepMania with my Cobalt Flux. The reason I play DDR on my laptop more is because my Wii is breaking down and it's running slower. My Cobalt Flux can plug into my laptop and I play DDR mostly on there (usually after I beat DDR CS games)

And I really don't give a crap if DDR II has mostly songs from DDR X2 Arcade, there's still new songs, and full versions of songs that I'd like to get.

@Max yeah.... I'm sorry but there's no way we're gonna be friends. Sorry dude Cry
