Roy speaks the truth. TBH, I think the majority of the KOs are pretty generic...
I wasn't dissing the KO's, I was refererring to the comment about the licenses being generic.Post #4142 · Posted at 2008-09-22 01:35:22am 16.7 years ago

Here's an Info that you didn't have listed~
STEALTH Master
You got a Full Combo in Stealth!
You obviously don't need a TV screen at all - the speakers are enough.

The KO's oddly beats out the ones we had from SN2, but I feel as there's a huge gap through the licensed songs.
Better than SN2 KOs? I can't say I agree with that. I mean Saber Wing, Trigger, and On the Bounce may be good songs but compared to Poseidon, AtcLOVE, Pluto, and Shades of Grey they aren't anything special.
First Impressions anyway are: the announcer is extremely annoying. The step-charts, however, for the boss songs are much better. I would agree that SN2 boss songs were just too much. The new grading system needs getting used to but it's pretty easy to understand after that. Although, I'd imagine it'd be tedious to convert all the older ratings into the current one. The excessive amount of licenses is unnecessary. All in all, it's pretty solid with not-so-special songs and good step-charts. Taj He Spitz, however, is just terrible.
tl;dr Good but not better than SN2.

Since I haven't posted a lot here since I bought it on Wednesday, I do believe that the charts here were far superior than last years sloppy SN2. It felt DDR-current, which feels like each song had some sort of theme to it, rather than adding a bunch of streams and voila your done. The songlist is fine. The KO's oddly beats out the ones we had from SN2, but...
A great post before it turns into deplorable lies.Post #4144 · Posted at 2008-09-22 02:02:33am 16.7 years ago

You know, I actually find this game very useful and it teaches you how to be a better DDR player. Under "Tips" in Information, it teaches you how to do cross-overs (right-down-left), and spins (down-right-up-left).
I don't believe the previous games did anything like this....? Unless I'm just forgetting something...
Anyway, I found that piece very useful.
Also, I finally have all 75 songs, but I couldn't find the info where it told me that I have played all the songs, or have all the songs unlocked.... Could there be more...?

Ok, I'm new to posting here but I'm not new to Z-I-V in general... I've been "lurking" around these forums for quite some time now. But I haven't had any real reason to post anything until now...
Mmk, so I pre-ordered DDR X through Gamestop and got it Sep. 16. I basically did nothing but go to school and play that game for 3-4 days straight... until I beat SMM. Then I took a break. I just now picked it back up and some things have been bothering me:
1) Does anyone else's game take 1-2 seconds to load and preview each song in the game mode menu?? This may seem very minor to some, but to me it's annoying as heck and seems completely unnecessary. I've played almost every DDR game from Konamix to Max 1/2 to Extreme 1/2 to Supernova 1/2 to Hottest Party and none of them have ever had any hesitation while previewing songs. So how do I fix it or can't I?
2) Why are the boss songs not in red? Or, again, is it just me? And, again again, this may seem very minor to some, but to me it's annoying!!
Is there any way to change this or not?
That's all of my complaints... for now.
I'd love it if anyone could respond soon. Thanks!

No idea about the load times, probably just a development issue or just lazyness..but boss songs are easy to identify still by how they are placed on the default order. Just throwing it out that all of the songs in that section will work for accessing Extra/Encore stages, even though only one is red.
I honestly think there is a hidden song in the game that has yet to be unlocked, like Memories was on Extreme. I doubt there wouldn't be a "All songs played/unlocked" information, so we'll see..

I hear you, if i remember, SN2 had something saying "congratulations! All songs unlocked/played!" so I have my doubts that the "full" songlist has yet to be unlocked...

Does anyone able to obtain any online exclusive songs/courses information from DDR X?
Apparently, we can't go online for this version, it just uses a LAN feature where you can hook up to four PS2's and 8 people can play simultaneously...but hey, you never know right?Post #4148 · Posted at 2008-09-22 03:02:34am 16.7 years ago

At last, I'm done unlocking eveything (I think...might be missing a dancer). Now here's my review (a maybe long one).
For a 10th Anniversary game, this game ROCKS! Looking through the whole song list (all 75 songs), I'd say this has to be one of the most enjoyable DDR games released on the American PS2 (EX2 is higher up on the food chain
). Bringing back some DDR classics (new cuts and new steps) was a plus. New licenses were hit and miss IMHO. I was bopping my head to Ghetto Blasta Deluxe, Here We Go, Here It Goes Again, Put 'Em Up, Sound of Freedom, and U Can't Touch This, while playing the game. On the other hand, I didn't like Wine Red, for some reason. I can't pinpoint the exact reason, I just don't like the song.
The 'new-to-the-US/Japan's old news' KOs came from (with one exception) SN2 AC or CS. They were good choices, but there were also glaring omissions. Missing from the game, but in everyone's wish lists were CaptivAte ~Chikai~, PARANOiA Respect, and the three remaining planet songs. Some of the new KOs were rather interesting, in terms of musical style. Who would've thought a song that sounds like it came from a Spaghetti Western film would somehow fit in DDR. The two Jena Rose songs were also interesting because (especially Ticket to Bombay) they sound like they came from a Bollywood film or "Aladdin". Flourish is my favorite simply because of the new vocalist. More than likely NAOKI is the man behind the music. As for the boss songs, Triggeris an amped-up FAXX and/or FELM. I'm looking forward to a possible 2MB remix called Trigger Happy
.The Xmixes were (IMHO) sort of a welcome back to the Nonstop Mixes from Solo and Long versions from 5th.
Overall, this wasn't the game I had in mind when the 10th anniversary was approaching. I was actually hoping for something along the lines of 100 songs, but I'm content with what we got. Who knows, there may be a 'companion disc' coming down the line (likely not).
Grade: A-
Now, for some water...lots and lots of water.

I wouldn't exactly call Trigger an amped up version of FAXX or FELM, seeing as how they run at the same BPM.
I do see your point though.
And for some reason, I got some of my songs from different places. Like Pluto. I got it from Disco vs. LC3. Hell I got 3 of of the 7 boss songs and the boss mix from Disco.

I'm desperate for the lyrics for Inspiration. Anyone got any ideas? I'm just in love with that song right now, and I'd much rather sing words than hum like a maniac.
To be on topic: I love how the characters think everything can be solved by dancing. It gives me major lulz.

Does anyone know how do you get edit charts rated by the game or is it something not available normally? I'm asking since NIQ9 has a rating for his charts while I don't.

Thanks for the vid, I didn't know it had a music video with it.Just a random question, if you select Random on Final Stage and a non-boss song comes up, will it give you the CD image or not (you're fulfilling the ES song pick, so I was thinking that may be the way to get it to show up if it exists)?

Unfortunate, but thank you for the answer. I recalled someone saying they saw Butterfly had a CD, but no one else mentioned it so I wasn't so sure.Post #4160 · Posted at 2008-09-22 07:35:48am 16.7 years ago

I'm not sure about this, i did my edit on Here We Go, and i had to choose the difficulty...i wanted to see HOW the game would rate my edit, but i couldn't find any option that would do it =/
Question: how can you clear a song with 0 points? (trying to get the Low-Score Abyss...which is clearing a song with 0 points)
