I know... and that makes me sad. There was no reason for you guys to not get DDR X and fakeX2. The PlayStation team in Europe just up and quit.
I stand by the idea that aliens invaded, tied the team up and made Dancing Stage Max. It was just a moment where it felt like Konami finally got it right just for once since EuroMIX/2 and Party Edition.
There must SURELY be enough of a musical convergence these days that it's possible to create a single licence list that both regions can enjoy? If Americans can survive with the Spice Girls surely we Europeans could survive with a few American-exclusive artists?
Sometimes it's actually FUN to have songs that aren't that popular in my country and my friend (who is the definition of casual by the way) really seemed to like some of the more American songs that either I or her had never heard of before like Will I?, Take Me Away and Faster Kill Pussycat.
Seriously; throw in a dance remix of an Adele song and watch it fly off the shelves in both regions.

I'm pretty sure the aliens stole the team after SuperNOVA, but two or three of them avoided capture. Those few could only manage one extra song in SuperNOVA 2 and then the aliens came back and got them too.

I just skimmed YouTube for a good remix of Rolling in the Deep. There are many remixes, and none of them are good.

You mean Rolling in the Deep, right?
I mostly just meant somehow including artists that had critical acclaim worldwide (or at least in both America and Europe). There's no doubt that a dancified Adele song would get people noticing, assuming such remixes exist (since Adele's standard work, while amazing, wouldn't be suitable).
EDIT: Actually I take that back. Rolling in the Deep might actually work by itself. It has good rhythm.

Set Fire to the Rain (Moto Blanco Remix) would fit into DDR, imo.

...Once again... You mean just about every licensed artist in DDR II, right?

The homogenisation of the music industry sucks.

Try and convince me he hasn't make UK charts.
I never say they were the best artists... When has DDR had (except by fluke) the best songs from the best artists?

You said "critical acclaim". That's a whole WORLD away from "fanbase".

I wasn't talking about the best artists, that's different. I said artists with critical acclaim in both regions. I'm talking about artists like Adele.

Justin Bieber is actually not all that popular chart-wise. He only has 2 top 10 hits in the US and no #1s and all. That is a horrible record for someone of his fame. Basically he has a fairly good amount of absolutely batshit crazy fans and everyone else hates him. It doesn't bode well for his future to be honest.

Xavious said critical acclaim. And sadly, he still qualifies. And even if he didn't, the others do. DDR II has something for every western market, it just does.
When the Singstar and Just Dance games are released over there do they have European exclusives? When the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series got regional releases did the tracklists change for any reason other than licensing issues?
...DDR is the weird one. Konami is just having a hard time keeping to that tradition and remaining competitive against other games in a now crowded genre.

Then what DO the actual critics say about Mr Bieber? Do they even like him?
In a game with 93 full-length licensed tracks, I'm hardly going to care as much if I don't like all of the songs or if there are ones that have never been popular in my country. Heck, it might expand my taste a bit, as if often does. When you have a much smaller licence list, as DDR often does, what you pick matters a LOT more.

Who are these critics anyways? I don't need anyone to tell me what I should like or dislike (And I'm sure that's how Bieber fans feel too).
It's DDR. There's always going to be bad choices in the songlist. Always. This year they were less bad than last year. I know that making a release specifically tailored to your part of the world increases the chances of getting music that you'll like... but that's just not financially viable anymore. That's why Konami has (smartly) decided to go the universal tracklist route.
As badly stepped as American licenses are, historically, European exclusives are stepped worse. Without an edit mode is that an acceptable loss for getting exclusive songs?

Then forget the term "critic", I mean artists people in general like. Justin Bieber has his fanbase, but he's the type of artist that could easily lose Konami sales because people won't buy the game if they know his songs are in it. I really wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
While Adele is technically more suited to a karaoke game, having her name on the box would do a ton of good. It would be like Don't Stop Believin' in a band game; people would probably buy it purely because of that song, just like how loads of people probably bought Just Dance 2 because of the free Firework download.
I found most of the European charts reasonable. Depends on the game. I feel that they are about on par with how good/bad the US charts often are.

1,800 units sold last week apparently. Still pretty horrible but it's possible that as more casual players begin to see YouTube videos of the songlist and stuff, they'll begin picking it up. Hopefully we'll see a long-tail in sales, especially as Christmas comes.
