DDR II & hottest party 5 (Wii) (International)

Not sure if you knew this or not, but smooooch has a Challenge chart in DDR X2 that at least somewhat attempts to follow the background video. It isn't in DDR II because it has Shock Arrows.

You're right, DDR II is the debut of the long version of New Decade, but they just recycled the short version's video from DDR X2 and made it loop, which is kind of silly, they probably should have just used a standard stage for the long version.

While I don't necessarily care for shock arrows, it DOES seem a bit lazy that they didn't even bother to put them in here. Especially when you consider that all they really are is 4 lane foot missiles where the only difference is that they go off if your foot is on a panel when they cross the step zone regardless of going for a step or not. That could not have possibly been hard to program when you consider half the work was already done.

If the game does have any real issue right now, it's that part of the game feels sorta like DDR2010, while the other part of it is absolutely fantastic and is exactly what the doctor ordered. IMO, even without the X2 stuff it's still a better game than 2010, but the X2 stuff really puts it over the edge. I haven't been more impressed with charts in a long while. The bad thing is that unless X3 arcade is really good, I'm not expecting DDR2012 to be anywhere close to as good.

Wow, what backwards universe have I walked into where the European boxart looks a lot better than the American one?*

I've always liked the stylised drawn art more than the more realistic ones. even if the American versions for past games haven't looked too bad.

I really, really love that logo by the way, especially when you compare it to the American one; it's too plain. Dare I say it is something I'd expect from people like Lord Toon? I kind of wish that the interface resembled it more.

And a 16? Wow, that might help kill a lot of sales here. I'm actually deadly curious now what could have been included to warrant that high a rating. This is probably why Just Dance censors left, right and centre so that they can keep the coveted 3 rating perfect for appealing to the largest amount of people. Though I notice that Just Dance 1 in America was rated E10+; did they not censor as much or something?


Also, I wasn't around yesterday, is DDRIIgate over yet?

EDIT: *I was judging by e-s-g's version. I still kind of like the art more, even if she does look high on music. The rest, aside from her face, looks great.
