SUPER SMASH BROS. 4 [TRAILER(S)]

The update patch regarding Mewtwo's inclusion for both versions, Mii Fighter costumes, and the content sharing for the Wii U version is now live. Codes for the Club Nintendo members are beginning to be distributed. Please note that in order for the code to take full effect and have Mewtwo appear in each roster, the patch must first be applied.

With the new update now out for Smash Bros, another round of rumors have popped up!

This time it relates to a post on Reddit in which a person claims to have decrypted the latest update, and along with the update a few sound bytes have been unearthed. These concern not only Mewtwo and Lucas, the first two confirmed downloadable characters for the games, but sound bytes for Ryu (Street Fighter) and Roy (Fire Emblem), who have not been announced.

Again, this isn't confirmed. There have been many elaborate hoaxes regarding Smash Bros. characters and this could just be another. But if you want to start speculating, now's a good a time as any!

To all the earlybirds, how does MewTwo play? Same as Melee, or better/worse?

I was able to get Mewtwo today thanks to the Club Nintendo deal. From my experience thus far, he definitely feels better than he was in Melee. He's not Diddy Kong/Sheik/Rosalina good, but he's probably mid tier at best. He is still slow, floaty, and somewhat heavy, but nowhere as bad as he was in Melee. As for all his good traits, his forward air is fast and strong, and his down tilt has awesome range and is great for wracking up damage early. Shadow Ball is also much stronger in this game (drains shields very fast and is just as strong, if not better, than Samus's Charge Shot and can drain shields very easily), and Confusion has so many uses this time around. It can now reflect projectiles and has better combo potential.

Mewtwo has great killing potential too. His up throw is one of the strongest throws in the game, and all of his smash attacks are pretty good; down smash is especially good when you use Confusion or Disable prior to it.

Ugh, I still haven't received my codes yet. And in regards to that reddit thing...if that ends up being true, I honestly don't see the point of Roy coming back.

My code was in my promotions folder for some reason. I would check all available folders.

I've been refreshing my email account all day, checking in every folder, and I still haven't received anything from them. I'm wondering if something went wrong because I feel like I should have received the email by now. I definitely registered both games in December on the same day.

I have been and it's still just saying that codes will be emailed on today's date. I'm guessing they just haven't been emailed to me yet for whatever reason. It's frustrating, though.

I got them today. Along with sending them an email, I spoke directly to a customer service representative and he gave me my codes directly. Thanks for posting that, though.

I believe the Miiverse stage is (finally) also getting added on 6/14 as well.

I'm simultaneously glad and worried that they announced it now and not at E3. Glad, because that's one less announcement we already knew about, just needed a release date, leaving more room for new stuff. Worried, because I was hoping they'd announce this at E3 alongside a Mother 3 release on Virtual Console. I suppose that could still happen, though.

Speaking of E3, it seems pretty likely that they'll announce the next DLC fighter at E3, or give some kind of Smash update. Who do you guys think they'll announce? I know there were rumors of Ryu and Roy; I think Ryu would really make a big splash. I also really hope they announce DLC stages.

I hope they announce Skull Kid next, but the likelyhood of that is slim to none.
If we're going by the supposed Roy/Ryu rumors, then I'd go with Ryu. Think about it; first DLC character is a Melee veteran. Second is a Brawl veteran. Third likely being a new one. This could set us up for a Melee/Brawl/new pattern, and with the rate of character DLC being about 2 months inbetween releases, that would mean that the second new character would be a thing around the time the Smash ballot closes.
Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Masahiro Sakurai presenting Smash Bros. DLC next week

Nintendo’s opening its E3 showings with a presentation about a game that’s been out since last year, showing content that comes out the same day, and we’re all going to love it.

Producer Masahiro Sakurai will outline the “details” of the new content, including Lucas, Splatoon costumes, and the Miiverse stage coming to Wii U. That’ll happen at e3.nintendo.com June 14 at 7:40am PT/10:40am ET.
