All of my country's X3 vs 2ndMix machines (two of them, currently) are running on the "classic" black cabinet. Some X and X2s too, the only X-style dedicab we have is X2 NA dedicabs and one X JP dedicabs.

Anyway, I think the older machines will not get any upgrade kits this time. Since it has been discussed that the benefit of "e-Amusement participation system" (the profit-sharing system) includes "cheaper machines", then providing upgrade kits would be kind of a moot point for Konami.

The Asian market outside of Japan is predominantly classic cabinets, yes. but the kit released in Asia and the kit released in Japan are different. They still make a classic conversion kit for Japan specifically, even though with each successive mix there are noticeably less of them. I was mildly surprised when X2 could be loaded on those beat up old machines, I was very surprised when X3 could. I can't imagine how it would be cost effective for them to make a DDR upgrade kit for anything that wasn't at least DDR X to begin with.

They have to convert the UI to 4:3 displays, they have to account for different timing variables on CRTs and older pads. I can't imagine what kind of converters and wiring is required to make a cabinet that originally housed a 573 PCB connect with a Dell Optiplex. They're willing to go through the trouble to keep the original machines with the times but flat out say that it's not cost effective to even make another Wii game for the English market. Okay.

Not bitter, just confused. Tongue

Well, the wiring system is not that hard to figure out tho. They use a kind of proprietary I/O board connected via USB, and the I/O board handles all the connection. If you're familiar with OpenITG/StepMania cabs, you will know what I'm talking about Happy

But yeah, all things considered, it's pretty nice of Konami to make classic conversion kit for older machines. I personally thought that the older machines will be over (ie. unsupported, no more upgrades/conversions) when the SuperNova era ends with SN2. Maybe it's because they realized that older machines are still prevalent in some markets, so they decided to make upgrades/conversion kits for them....

(BTW, just saying, Wii and AC development teams are different. They might have different decisions regarding what to do or release)

When they released X upgrade kit they did include BemaniPC configuration. This is why you can't skip X if you are using upgrade kits. The kits afterwards doesn't include BemaniPC AFAIK.

Also, I suppose that's pretty much the reason why people experience lags on X (which was quite reduced by X2).

btw are those huge screens dedicabs only or what

Don't forget Caramelldansen & Trolololo.
The category looks like SEGA's Rhythm game, MAIMAI, though.

Bigger monitor might be nice and all, but what about lag?
I stole DDR X2 CS from the internet; it's my fault the music game genre is dying.

There already is a ryu remix of Caramelldansen and I still wonder why that never appeared in any Bemani game. Love the mungyodance cut and chart of it.

I would totally expect a lot more Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid in that "internet" section though.

Wow, internet music? Caramelldansen should definitely be in it then. That has DDR written all over it!

And I wonder if Gangnam Style will be in it too? That'd be hilarious and awesome!

And that's cool that the release date is on my birth month. It would be cooler if it were released on my birth DAY. lol.

It won't because Gangnam Style wasn't a hit in Japan.

You have to imagine that since this is likely to be a Asian-only game, and the "internet songs" are going to be what was hip in Japan, that it'll be more along the lines of this:
