Light - 4 | Light - 5
Standard - 6 | Standard - 7
Heavy - 8 | Heavy - 9

The level "Air Crash"s secret area's BGM in Crash Bandicoot 2.
(This BGM is also used in the secret area of "Hang Eight", but people normally see the hidden area of Air Crash first)

Try my doubles charts, I worked hard on them

I take it that you guys don't like fadeouts? I'm not used to cutting songs; those were two of my earlier efforts. I'll try to give my later simfiles a more proper ending. As far as Take on Me is concerned, I know it wasn't my best chart, but I had it around so I figured I would submit a second. I personally don't think it's a bad chart - the sixteenths were largely experimental and probably weren't the best idea, but the rest of it flows fine to me. I'm glad you guys liked Dr. Dick though. It gave me some good motivation Big Grin

Anyway, my file for this week:

http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/simfiles/ZIv%27s%20Summer%20Contest%202011/%5BVideo%20Games%5D%20-%20Wolverine%20NES%20Title%20Theme/%5BVideo%20Games%5D%20-%20Wolverine%20NES%20Title%20Theme.png
Beginner 3 Light 5 Standard 7 Heavy 9

One of Follin's best chiptunes Big Grin. I'm sorry about the cut - I used the MP3 from Galbadia Hotel and I'm afraid it starts to fade a couple of seconds after what is expected. I don't think the chart suffers because of it though.

So yeah i went through like 15 songs i wanted to step for this before realising every one of them isnt eligible in one way or another, notably anything from parappa the rapper and "Conga" from the GTA Vice city soundtrack which turns out was in Universe 3 and i forgot so im not gonna be able to submit anything for this week as i genuinely have no idea what to step.

the rules don't mention if the video game has to be mainstream or not. There's a flcl game out there.

Chart Ride on Shooting Star. :V

Its moreso i had about 20 different ideas for songs to step and they stemmed from the following:

Frequency
Amplitude
Parappa
Um Jammer Lammy
Vib Ribbon

And TaroNuke told me that we cant step things that are from rhythm games, whereas all i read was "from a video game".

That in mind can i make a request that on the first page you put the current weeks theme up so we dont have to look for it everytime its changed and secondly make it clear straight away what sort of things are banned and arent? I would have thought that the above examples would have been fine all things considering.

EDIT: Infact it DOESNT say anywhere that other rhythm games cant be used, it doesnt even say on the first post DDR tracks cant be used so can someone confirm/deny this for me and change the rules to suit? So theres no confusion in the future and i dont waste time on a file only to be told its not allowed ?

Pandy announced the theme as "Video Games", and then 12 hours later, changed it the theme to "No videogame remixes" and "No songs from music games".

I'm in the same boat as you. I started on a file that doesn't fit into the new theme, and now that the theme has been changed to something so restrictive, I won't be able to finish anything in time.

I'm sure Pandy made a mistake, though, and he probably won't let this kind of thing happen again. Next week will be much more open, so please dont' be put off because of this :{

Dont worry i wasnt going to be put off it was just a tad discouraging, but PLEASE can someone make sure the first post is updated with the current theme and make it clear what isnt allowed so it doesnt happen again? Smile It'll take like 2 minutes a week tops to do and will make life so much easier.

Personally i also think a different category page for each week would be convenient so i can just grab the pack each week rather than having to choose that weeks files in different tabs etc but thats just my opinion

The no remix/music game rules were the same as last year (although to be fair, last year we DID have VG Remixes and Other Music Games before VG Week itself), so I assume that Pandy assumed everyone remembered?

That's just it, Video Games isn't restrictive. It's just harder to find a song that's steppable unless it's from a music video game and that's the point, to challenge the step artists and expand what we'd normally pick, otherwise why not have a free week every week?

I agree with Daiz.

Additionally;

Light - 3
Standard - 6
Heavy - 9
Challenge - 13 (CONTAINS ROLLS)
(edit) - 13 (NO ROLLS)

What a schizophrenic file.
I figured since I make overstepped onis and understepped heavies, if I WAY overstepped the oni, the heavy would come out just right.

As usual, the Challenge (ITG expert) is how I would step it for In The Groove, and the Heavy (DDR expert) is how I would step it for DDR.

Hello, hardest single performance file in the tournament.
If you can't play the 13, play the 9 obviously. You can watch the 13 in autoplay if you like :V

Challenge 13 - ROLLS
Edit 13 = challenge 13 without rolls.

I also agree with Daiz on this as well.

Remixes are great and all but to be fair it should have been given that DDR and the like cant be used. Thats using it as a easy loop hole to avoid using other video games because DDR is easy.

The point of the competition is to get creative and see what we all can do. Not pick some song cause its easy and make a chart.

There are TONS of gaming music out there that can be stepped, you just gotta find them. Im not dissing on anyone I dont want anyone taking any offense to this post...its simply how I see this is all.

Pandemonium did say that there is a week for DDR stuff if anyone caught that. If anyone needs help finding a good song to step I can help with suggestions. Toss me a PM and we can talk. I can direct you guys to something you may like and such Big Grin!

Again I hope I didnt offend anyone...its just my own opinion on the matter :<
