Didn't know this was a thing. Now I feel stupid for making the bracket in Challonge myself.
Here's my new prediction.

I really don't know anymore, I look at my attempt at predicting the bracket and there are so many holes. There's so many ways this could play out, even just in Round 1. I'm just going to wait it out and start at Round 2.

I wish I could get into Round 3 but that's...fat chance. In any case here's what I want to happen. :P

It's probably a joke. Particularly with the two finalists I picked (the joke around it is the SOLE reason I did that).

Hoping to manage to duel Telperion. Also I think that Gameoson will take down everyone. His recent files are just too good <3 If astro doesn't eliminate me I will probably lose to Spork!
. I don't do well in ToI which is a pity because I always wanted to host at Summer Contest.

Yeah, so I made a "here's what I'd want to happen" prediction. If I get past Round 1 (which at this point, sounds very unlikely) I think I'd face DDRDAIKENKAI and get dunked on. He's consistently outplaced me in other contests. But, you never know. Others... I tried my best to give my predictions, but they're probably way off, as I picked a lot of up-and-coming steppers to move on.

Alright, so I would make a Challonge bracket, but as I try to do so there end up being so many matches that could swing in a variety of ways, so I think I'll just plan on doing predictions once winners of each round are announced and make some comments if need be.
I know I only expressed uncertainty for a handful of matches, but I really think the tournament this year is anyone's game. Almost everyone here is more than capable of releasing a stunning file and pulling some upsets, which makes this year's tournament so exciting. So regardless of what I've said above or anyone else has predicted, everyone should go into each round as if it could possibly be their last. In my opinion, no one is safe this year, so the pressure is definitely on.
(why did i spend 2 hours on this write-up we just dont know)
*Predicted winners in bold, italics indicate a possible 2nd place finish for 3 way matches, more than one italicized user indicates extreme uncertainty.*
CuzcoBlocko - The Legendary DJXYZ - xRGTMx
For as long as I remember, xRGTMx has had a history of releasing some killer files for these contests, and this ToI will be no exception. He's definitely going to be a stepper to watch for me this year. That being said, I can't remember participating in a simfile contest with Cuzco or DJXYZ. For all I know, they could give xRGTMx a run for his money. I loved the DDRMAX vibes Cuzco gave with his Qualifier file, and DJXYZ seems to have a good ear for steppable music based on his qualifier. If those two put out their best work, I could be pleasantly surprised.
DDRDAIKENKAI - ddrstepper
i've already touched on this but i'm so afraid sososososos
darkanine - Quickman
I think I've only competed against darkanine twice in the last few SC's, but one thing is for sure and that is he has improved a ton. Quickman is relatively newer to the competition scene here on ZIv, but like I said about Cuzco and DJXYZ earlier, he could surprise me for all I know. I can't be certain considering I only have Qualifiers to base this match off of, but given the context of competition history, I think darkanine may have a one-up.
Oni-91 - gameboy573
So I have seen these two guys' files for a few years now, and I can name a few files by these two that have really impressed myself as well as others (Oni's Echoes file for ToI 4 a few years ago and gameboy's Atropos file for SC2014 come to mind). I feel as though Oni-91 is the more consistent performer of this match, that is consistently impressing the community of steppers, but with that being said, no one's guard should be let down when facing gameboy573. He's definitely able to step up to the plate.
xXMokou98Xx - hypnoticmarten77 - Telperion
Like I said about Oni, Telperion is consistently putting out these amazing files and I think he's definitely a contender for the crown once again, especially after playing the masterpiece that is Debut (I'm still not over how excellent that file was). Mokou could most definitely steal some points from Telp, though. She also has an impressive portfolio of files from contests past. I'm excited to see what she's put out. As for hypnoticmarten77, I only have their qualifier to base this prediction off of, but I wish them the best of luck against his two competitors!
Tsugaru7reveng - Sigrev2
t7r is always striving for quality, so I think Sig definitely has his work cut out for him. The only file of Sig's that I've played in recent times is his Qualifier (I think his only other one I've played was a SC entry from a few years back), and though the whole package wasn't my cup of tea, the steps themselves IIRC were very solid and I see him snatching some points from t7r.
Nezemarth - JunkoXXX - Spork!
Spork! is another competitor that has a history of great performances in these contests, so I personally see him as having the best shot in this match-up at moving onto the next round. Nezemarth has a good file for his Qualifier, but since this is the first file from him that I've seen, he could be another surprise I'm not expecting. JunkoXXX has made improvements since they entered the competition scene, but still may have more a lot more improvement to make before they can steal some points from their competitors. Will that improvement occur in this round? I actually hope so, since it'll make for an interesting match-up.
Lisek - Astro
I initially thought Lisek had a bit more of an edge against Astro, but I could very well see Astro pulling an upset. Lisek has a great portfolio of files, but Astro has put out some great files as well, especially some awesome pop files. Besides my matchup against DDRDAIKENKAI, I think this could be another close one.
NuVirus - usaminseijin - vincentw
Vincent has gotten hella brownie points from me for his presentation of his files, and that's what makes his already fantastic files so much more alluring. I really think Vincent could go all the way to finals this year, and perhaps even win it. I'm really stoked to see what he can do this year. As was the case for Cuzco and DJXYZ, I don't feel knowledgeable about NuVirus' and usaminseijin's work to make a confident prediction as to who will perform better, but I'm excited to see what they have in store for us and I wish them both luck.
Spirit Of Nightmare - Chewi
Another match-up I think could swing in any direction. What's interesting is both of these steppers from what I've seen is that they have different stepping styles have different music tastes. Some people have an affinity towards Spirit's steps and music and others towards chewi's. Personally I think I tend to gravitate towards chewi's work more often, but I don't decide the winner, the community does. Both are capable of putting out great files, now it's a question of what each individual's definition of great is.
Gameoson - CLOUDIO
Gameoson is a tough competitor, period. I think he's the most consistent performer in the contest when taking into consideration the constant positive reception of his work and the fact that he rarely ever misses an opportunity to step something. His record of total points received throughout the past few Summer Contests is literally mind boggling. He is definitely another contender for the crown this year. CLOUDIO is also a promising contestant, and I'm interested to see what he has to offer this round.
ohaiimian - Aegis
What I have to say about this match-up is similar to what I said about chewi and Spirit's match-up. Different step artists with different (but objectively great) styles could lend itself to the community's overall affinity towards one style in the final totals.
PandemoniumX - Braeden47 - brunobg
The people I'm keeping my eyes on for this match-up are mostly Pandy and bruno. Braeden is good, but he could definitely benefit from some of the criticisms the community has had to offer, as he does appear to have some improvement to make. Pandy and bruno are excellent step artists, but I honestly have no clue who will reign supreme. If one has an off day, the other could very well steal the show, but I'm confident both will put out their best.
Densetsu.EXE - Loodee
Loodee is another step artist who has a good portfolio who I believe will go far in this tournament. I'm not sure if I know Densetsu.EXE's work well enough to predict by how wide of a margin Loodee could beat him, but considering his performance in the Qualifier, it could very well be a close match.
HealingDMax300 - SupremeX - Ledgam3r1279
Ledgam3r1279's stunning performance in the Qualifier with Jousou Dystopia has me really excited to see what he has in store this week. I only gave it an honorable mention, but HealingDMax300's file was actually really nicely stepped (as much I dislike Meghan Trainor, that was a good chart), so I think they could potentially steal some of the attention from Ledgam3r1279. SupremeX is another competitor who I would like to see improvement from, so here's to hoping we see some.
mf32892 - Feraligatr
Based on my experiences with these two steppers, mf32892 works with a wider variety of music selections which could really work to his advantage. Feraligatr is good stepper, but I have felt his work to feel redundant at times because of the music selections, but perhaps that's just me/perhaps I haven't played enough of his files to get a good understanding of what kinds of music he works with. Regardless, both are good steppers and this should be a good match.
I know I already did my vote in this thread, but really, I don't think I could accurately deduce who I think will win the round. A lot of steppers here know what they're doing, and it's going to be interesting content all across the board. Lots of surprises, I think. Everyone has a realistic shot of winning. I look forward to it all.

I'll be closing bracket predictions on the challonge I copied Wednesday 6AM UTC (i.e., Tuesday night for Yanks) or when any match-up has been voted on five times, whichever comes later.

There are totally some silent op stepmen in the contest, damn
Edit: people reading reviews of their files should realize that
mentioning a negative thing about your file =/= your file only has this one negative aspect
unless the person giving the comment actually implies that was the case

I've got two brackets ruined in my prediction and only one that doesn't include me, so:

Feraligatr
ledgam3r1279
