The fact that we can achieve this in Stepmania is pretty amazing. I would love to Play test this, Even though i only have a keyboard and barely any knowledge of BeatMania.
Edit: I hope you dont mind my signature by the way.

I'm down to playtest this; I don't have a DJDAO, but I have a USKOC to test it out with.

I forgot that you haven't seen the current theme yet - this looks awesome! I wanted the original theme to be generic and not particularly themed, and I decided to go with black surfaces with purple highlights. This is what it looks like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W2QC8hJiUw
But to be honest, I'm getting kinda sick of the theme and the generic trance music that goes along with it. I'm much more enjoying this one! Would it be possible to incorporate the logo (I can send you a vector if you want, or you can make your own if you've got an idea for a more fitting one) and fiddle with the colour scheme? A friend of mine just suggested black, red, grey and white which I think would look awesome! Remember BeatFreaX is gonna be focused around underground bass-heavy music, so here are a couple of links to some music to get you in the mood:
JUNGLE | BASSLINE
Cheers!

I have a USKOC, so i wouldn't mind playtesting this out, specially since LR2 hates my dual monitor setup and doesn't want to render anything on my main monitor in full screen.

"SOUND VOLTEX -BOOTH-" |
DLing the playable beta/demo now for testing later. Really looking forward to playtesting this.
Seems what I did submit for music though didn't quite make the cut? Now that the soundcloud page is up I have a slightly better idea of what music I should have produced for this.

Some of the tracks, including every song in iidx ever, have unfinished note charts. You can find them in the Songs folder with "unf" extensions. The BMSes are fully transcribed (the template.xxx files are the transcribed BMSes with no actual on-playfield notes) but since there are no playable note charts yet, they will not appear in-game.Quote: Densetsu.EXE

Hi, I'm really sorry for not getting back to you about your track! I've been in touch with tons of people and it obviously had slipped my mind. I actually really liked your track No Man's Land and would love to have it in BeatFreeX! Send me a message on the Facebook page (I check that far more often than I do here) and I'll give you more info on how to get it in.Post #33 · Posted at 2016-03-09 12:48:56pm 9.2 years ago

Of course! I'll always be accepting new tracks. You're better off sending a message to the Facebook page than here as I check that far more frequently.

Seems I've found some sort of bug in the graphics. I'm running from an installation of SM5.0.10 and for some reason the wheel graphic that's used to indicate song time takes up the entire screen in the background. Not sure how to fix that.

Ooh, that's wacky. Could you give me a screenshot? I've never come across that bug before.
You could try opening the StepMania preferences (%appdata%/stepmania 5/save/preferences.ini if you're on windows), finding the line that starts with (I think it's called) VideoRenderers= and changing it to VideoRenderers=opengl

"now led_light for short" |
This game is actually pretty fun after playing around with it for a little bit, but besides the obvious bug during gameplay in the video, there is clearly still a lot of issues that need to be fixed or features that need to be added.
-the timer when adjusting speed options before the song starts is way too short; it happens too often that the song suddenly starts before I can finish adjusting my hi-speed settings
-in fact, the loading time takes way too long as well; why not adjust hi-speed while the song is loading?
-the combo and judgement counter are more of an annoyance than usual when I can't seem to move them to a more optimal position (see my recent IIDX INFINITAS videos)
-treat charge notes like actual charge notes instead of like DDR freeze arrows (this is supposed to be a IIDX simulator, right?)
-more scoring options like money score and EX score
-add a fast/slow counter in the results screen (timing is everything, after all)

Wow, that really is a bizarre bug that I've never seen before. Again, have you tried changing your VideoRenderer to opengl in the preferences file like I suggested? The progress pie uses an ActorFrameTexture and other people have had trouble with graphical elements that also use ActorFrameTextures, like the title screen appearing glitchy. The cause was they were using the buggy d3d (Direct3D) renderer, and this was fixed by changing the renderer to opengl. Also, what graphics card are you using? Also I noticed the score display on your video is showing the ordinary DDR-style score rather than percentage score. You can fix that by turning on Percentage Scoring in the options (off the top of my head I believe it's under Display>UI). Incidentally that's another bug that should be fixed -- that option should be set by the theme on startup.

Sadly due to the design of StepMania, this time can't be made interactive (depending on how much you're adjusting the speed). However, it WOULD be possible to add a feature to make it adjustable (5 secs, 10 secs, 15 secs, etc.) in the settings.Quote
-in fact, the loading time takes way too long as well; why not adjust hi-speed while the song is loading?
Load time depends entirely on the speed of your computer and hard drive. Songs load in one to three seconds on my laptop with an SSD but take upwards of ten on my aging desktop. Sadly, due to the way StepMania loads files, the entire game is inactive while the song is being loaded. This could be sorted out to load like LR2 does (being able to change hi-speed while the song loads would be awesome I agree!) but I'm not sure how big of a task that would be -- we will have to ask the StepMania developers.Quote
-the combo and judgement counter are more of an annoyance than usual when I can't seem to move them to a more optimal position (see my recent IIDX INFINITAS videos)
Cool, the ability to move the judgement and combo up and down ought to be made a planned feature, cheers for making me aware. Quote
-treat charge notes like actual charge notes instead of like DDR freeze arrows (this is supposed to be a IIDX simulator, right?)
Lunatic Rave 2 and (to the best of my knowledge) all other BMS players treat long notes the same as DDR freezes too, but the addition of actual charge notes where you have to lift your finger off at the exact moment it ends is indeed a planned feature, but more long term and tentative as it will require a bit of restructuring of the file format and engine code. Both types of long notes will be available for note chart writers, and I'm debating whether to import long note BMS files as having ordinary long notes or lift-at-end long notes.Quote
-more scoring options like money score and EX score
IIDX EX score is definitely a planned feature. Once I write the custom scoring system I'll be able to implement all sorts of that kind of stuff.Quote
-add a fast/slow counter in the results screen (timing is everything, after all)
For sure! I was quite disappointed in myself that I didn't have enough time to clean up the results screen before the launch date. I'm planning first of all an early/late counter, then later a histogram or similar statistic graph for a more precise breakdown of early/late hit notes.Thank you for giving BeatFreeX a go and giving me your feedback!

"now led_light for short" |
One bug down, many more to go. I can't believe I forgot to turn on the stats until now.
Two more things:
-shouldn't the title of the song be on top of the lane cover?
-the judgement count at the end doesn't add up . . . literally.
