Getting a stepchart to be in the official DDR games would only give you a few more players to begin with. I don't see many players playing "A Love Like This" or "Pump Up The Volume" for example, and those are official charts.
Custom charts give players room to make their own files that don't have the bizarre erratic feel Konami official charts have. This is why it's important to minimize the amount of double steps possible (unless it's being used for stuff like pitch relevancy and is stated with the file release, etc.) and keep in mind how hard patterns actually are.
What I will agree with, however, is the lack of response from users. This is a problem with many rhythm gaming communities in general. A person releases a pack or several songs, then doesn't get any responses. I know my Nero's Day at ITGland pack got around 80 downloads, but no responses. The Pendulum Pack with a bunch of stamina training files only got two pages of responses if I recall correctly, but a lot of players have that pack.

All those professional game designers need to GET OUT OF THE WAY, so we can make more room for as many homogenized and formulaic custom charts as possible!
It's really important that everyone creates charts where the player faces forward at all times, and has to execute as few double-step movements as possible. Anyone who does deviates from this formula must include a WRITTEN APOLOGY, explaining why they chose to do such a thing, and distribute it with their simfile.
Are you seriously questioning why players with this kind of attitude towards simfiling aren't jumping out of the woodwork to give each other support and feedback?

Paranoia Revolution Challenge has several hidden footswitches and crossovers that even the top players don't bother doing, Mei's afronova crossover part is usually double stepped too, and so on. Paranoia Survivor Heavy and PSMO had good crossover patterns that were hard but doable.
It's fine if a file has spins, crossovers, footswitches, etc. but the player ultimately matters. Stating that your file was meant to be played with footswitches on the minijacks isn't an "apology", it's stating how you want others to interpret your file.
I'm note sure where you were trying to go with your post, but I usually want to know what someone is getting at in a file. If something is supposed to be stepped as a footswitch, it should be stated so; I wouldn't want players doing crossovers in my hathead theme file when I stepped it to be hit as footswitches. My Look To The Sky Freeze Special has spins and I made it very clear that the player is supposed to do them. Doublesteps tend to ruin the flow of a chart and just look messy overall so it isn't a good idea to abuse them unless there is a good justification for it.

Not sure where he said this at all but okay.

Unintentional doublesteps are dumb and ruin the flow of a chart. If the doublesteps are intentional and follow something to the music they're fine.

You aren't exactly helping either for the record with posts like that.
Also why the fuck is this thread still alive jesus christ.

The doublesteps are intentional. They're supposed to follow the backbeat.

Honestly I find it really hard to hear what they go to (autoclap isn't helping with that fact either), you'd be better off getting rid of them honestly (or maybe replacing them with crossovers?).

when you hit one arrow with your foot and you hit the next arrow with the same foot (LDRU has a doublestep if you don't do the spin). If it's on the same arrow column it's just called a jack.

Yeah, I know what a jackhammer is. Spins are rare for me. I'm also a freestyler.

Freestylers do more jacks than spin!
