I would like to bring up Pluto The First Challenge. The placement of the shock arrows is just totally random. I guess you can say that with other shock arrow charts, but the random placement in Pluto The First just makes it an abomination.

@xRGTMx
I actually kinda like that song.
I also wanna mention Dance Dance Revolution Challenge. I get the fact that they were trying to pay tribute to the DDR franchise as a whole with that song. However, making an entire chart that uses sections of other songs' stepcharts is going overboard, considering that the tribute was already paid with the name of the game being shouted right at the end of the song.

In that case, it works well with the song. But for Dance Dance Revolution, it doesn't work at all.

Aside from the section that utilizes DYNAMITE RAVE's steps, I have to completely disagree with this. I think they did a good job at choosing what steps to use and from what songs. It provides a nice difficulty to the song, as well as a pretty neat nostalgia factor, especially if you're one who grew up with the songs. A fitting pair of tribute steps for a tribute song to the series. Aside from PARANOiA Revolution (that I know of), I'm honestly surprised more stepcharts don't utilize this tactic. Some charts that I feel fit the mold (all

The Least 100sec.. Comparing it to the other charts that were coming out at this time, I feel as though they could've done so much more with this one.
Heaven is a '57 metallic gray. Something about this chart really irks me. Is it the slowdown I can't predict even when I know it's coming? Is it the erratic nature of the steps? They really should've better thought this one out.
LEADING CYBER. Full stop. I enjoy the song a lot, but the steps are so full of (at its time) fake difficulty, it's unbelievable.

I'll put more when I think of them.

... What's wrong with the X-Specials? I thought they were done pretty well for what they were. :/
I think you're referring to the Radar Specials. This is an assumption, however.

I forgot about the radar specials. Even excluding DEGRS, those are worse than the X-Specials, as far as step charts go; because the step charts seem so...random (excluding Dynamite Rave "Air" Special).
As for the X-Specials, certain parts were executed well and make sense, but I find the spins and foot switches at high speeds to be random and unnecessary. It's like KONAMI wanted the X-Specials to be harder than their
counterparts, just because they *COULD*, not that they should. Just my opinion.
I simply prefer the original
charts. Why fix what isn't broke?

True, true. I saw the X-Specials as more of a re-imagining of the original charts. Like with the MAX 300 chart, they focused more (at least in the first half) on the melody rather than the intensity, but still kept the same general idea. They either expanded on some ideas from the original, or took a different route entirely and see where it went. Some of them were well done, others were okay. I don't think there was a terrible one though.
No excuse for the Groove Radar specials, though. It's an interesting concept, but had such a weak execution. What were they thinking with some of these?

I happen to think that one was done alright. Certainly not the best X-Special, but it's definitely not terrible.

The only I way I could imagine Pluto The First

Another one I'd like to bring up is HVAM Heavy . All jokes aside & in all seriousness, who's going to want to do 8th note spins, and at that speed no less? Double-stepping at that speed, and that much in one chart without any rest is bad enough. But to do 8th spins at that speed?

Actually i agree, that is a pretty good X-Special.. Just the slow down with the jumps... Seems weird but something you have to get used to.

For older songs, CANDY☆
, BRE∀K Down
, and 大見解 (Daikenkai)
. Too many WTF spins and twists at high speeds.
Same applies to many of the DDR II KO's; but Wings of an Angel (Fly with Me)
(short and long) is surprisingly good.

You may as well say that for virtually ALL of those 180-200 BPM 8s & 9s made during that era. Exotic Ethnic was pretty much the only one of those kinds of charts at that time that actually flowed perfectly with it's crossovers, no doublsteps.
