...these are both swing beat songs, yet they use 8th and/or 16ths, with no inclusion of any 12th beats whatsoever. Until DDR X came along and fixed the quantization.

Why didn't they just use 12ths in the first place?

And Trip Machine Phoenix is an absolute mess. Easily the worst Trip Machine just because of the steps and artificially inflated difficulties. Those 16ths go with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Until the very end.

How could of I forgot about this?

I still think that Phoenix is more randomized and broken than Evolution. Just because the song is impossible to do doesn't mean that the stepchart's flow is bad. Evolution at least has PATTERNS, (albeit really hard patterns), which Phoenix lacks. And Evolution doesn't have those stupid and pointless spins and jacks like PARANOiA Revolution . I really think that Evolution could of been much, MUCH worse than what we got on X3.

A little off-topic, but Evolution at least SOUNDS like a true remix, unlike Phoenix; which to me, sounds like a poorly made rehash of the original Trip Machine.

Licenses used to get good stepcharts before SuperNOVA (or even, EXTREME).

I don't see others like BOOM BOOM DOLLAR (K.O.G. G3 MIX) or SO DEEP on recent releases. Now some good songs like Feel Good Inc got boring stepcharts.
