Yeah, one of the more annoying aspects of SN/SN2 is that the doubles charts hog all the awesomeness. More with SN1 than with SN2.

graphics dont make a dancing game. i would prefer a game with the step quality of 3rd through extreme, and the home versions up to extreme 2/strike that looks like its on a psone to a game with supernova's quality of step charts and superb graphics. unfortunately, supernova only excells at doubles, i've yet to find a doubles chart i didnt like on it. singles is just bad. also, extreme has superb doubles charts, i cant believe someone said they were bad. 5.1.1. be in my paradise jam jam reggae r3 genom screams janajana sakura heavy the least 100 sec mikenko rock colors heavy psmo i could keep listing songs that are awesome on doubles, but i'll stop there. the club version songs had doubles charts written for extreme, btw, thats why i put those in the list. club version lacks doubles, and songs like 5.1.1. on ddr max or genom screams on konamix actually have the same charts for standard and heavy on doubles. |
But all of the ones you listed are in SuperNOVA, along with the same Doubles step-charts!

yes, i know they are in extreme, i listed songs that got their heavy/oni double charts in extreme. learn to read, i hate people that cant. someone said extreme doubles sucked, i listed good extreme doubles charts. the songs being in supernova is completely irrelevant to what we were talking about.
and even if it was a relevant argument, the ratio of good to crap is a lot smaller on extreme than it is on supernova, and i would rather play an extreme. it also helps that the oni courses are better and the judgment displays under the arrows.

But if those songs are in SuperNOVA, and those songs are one of the reasons you like Extreme, then there's no reason to dislike SuperNOVA unless you don't like the interface or something. I wish SuperNOVA had the DOA girls as background dancers.

well, i did just say that i dont like the judgment showing up over the arrows in supernova, but i guess that doesnt count as an interface reason.
other than that, the interface for SN is pretty sexy. i dont like that the 1st-Extreme licenses werent on SN, thats a lot of good songs i cant play. most of the licenses on SN suck pretty bad, and the new long train runnin in no way makes up for the loss of the old one. and if that wasnt bad enough, the IIDX songs were butchered this time around. frozen ray for extreme was awesome, and reworked to edit for length AND have a real ending. shit like rainbow rainbow, murmur twins, no.13, and AA need to be scrapped from DDR, i dont like being able to tell where a cut was made, it makes me feel like i'm playing stepmania.
i also like glitching my oni courses, beforu heavy is a great course(glitch with happy hardcore for true heavy, dive oni, firefly oni, ever snow heavy, breakdown heavy, and candy heavy).
oni was reworked in SN also, play naoki feat. paula terry on a max2 or an extreme, then on a SN. the course should give you back 1 life for the two standard songs and 2 lives for the heavy songs. on SN, it gives you no life back for the standard songs and 1 life for the heavy songs. its ridiculous, and i actually failed the course(due to pad errors) on a SN when it would have been a pass on extreme(i was about 10 seconds out of finishing destiny).
i have several reasons to hate SN. and those double charts i mentioned being on it still dont matter, because we were talking about good charts that originated on extreme, not what is IN supernova.
ok, now some supernova pluses- moon(good cut too, i was surprised), extreme US KOs, extreme 2 KOs, HDV, a dj TAKA oni course... thats it.

Did Kind Lady Interlude first appear in a home version, or the arcade? If it appeared in the arcade, why did they drop it? I actually like that song, but can't play it on SuperNOVA anymore.

It was on MAX2 CS, and MAX2JP CS along with Do It Right (80's Electro mix) and Look to the Sky (Trance Mix). Dunno why they didn't include it, it was a promotional shot for SN.

How does the game suck exactly? The interface, although having some annoying sounds, is more streamlined than ever, it has one of (if not) the most diverse song lists to ever grace a DDR title, and step charts that cater to all levels of difficulty (even if I won't touch the boss songs with an eleven-foot pole, and that's what I reserve for things I won't touch with a ten-foot pole). My only complaint with the machine is the pads, but they don't seem to be any better or any worse than other DDR cabs, just nowhere near as good as Andamiro-made pads (PIU, ITG2).
If you're having that many fond memories of Extreme, you were either 1) playing it on a PS2, 2) playing it in StepMania, 3) your memory is fuzzy, or 4) you were hallucinating while playing. When our local arcade got their SN, they had to get rid of one of their two existing DDR machines, either the Extreme or their 5th Mix... by an overwhelming majority, the patrons of the arcade told them to ditch the Extreme, and they complied

I have an un-patched SuperNOVA machine near my house, and it doesn't have Kind Lady Interlude. What I meant is that I can't play it on SuperNOVA. I didn't mean "anymore".

It's the same songlist as Extreme with all of the good Dancemania liscences taken out. That's not all that diverse.

...Plus the new KOs/Crossovers/Licenses/Max-Extreme 2 KOs.
That's one good thing about SN, it's got a large songlist.

Try telling that to people who have waited for more proper Pop'n Music crossovers than a couple of Sana songs, Daikenkai, and Mahou no Tobira. Not to mention the GF/DM crossovers (although I do credit Extreme for having The Least 100 Seconds, it just pales in comparison to the two Asaki songs in SN)...

You have a point about some awesome additions, but you hafta realize what was taken out too. BTW your acade probably kept 5th mix because 3/4 of its songs arent on EXTREME or SN.

Also, what makes Konami make the decision as to whether a certain song should be on SN or not? For example, Spin the Disc was pretty famous, yet it wasn't in SN, and feels like it should be in it. Why did Konami do away with that song? If they can fit 300+ songs on a disc (hence SN2), it wouldn't hurt to stick in a couple of more fan-favorites that were in older mixes. I've never understood this.
