lol'ed at jubeat round 2.

The rules stated that in case of a tie game, winners will be decided on a FCFS basis.
And as some of you might know, jubeat is arguably the easiest game in BEMANI series to get a full credit (EXC).

So the round 2 qualifiers of jubeat have turned into some kind of "get EXC on all designated songs as fast as you can" race
(the qualifier will come to an end when the number of players who EXC'd on all designated songs reaches 8).
Here are the current results:

Hokkaido: ended in 4 h, 40 min and 41 sec; II-L (one of the 2 players who EXC'd all charts in jubeat 1st) finished in 3rd.
Kanto: ended in 30 min and 40 sec (just look at this, a round 2 competition was over in only half an hour Laughing Out Loud );
Y.S-Y (the first player to EXC all charts in ripples) couldn't manage to get EXC fast enough (13th), and was eliminated from the tournament.
Central: ended in 6 h, 5 min and 40 sec; LAV1S. (another famous jubeat player in Japan) finished in 1st.
Shikoku: ended in 8 h, 20 min and 13 sec; HO4.KT-Y, the 1st player in this region, is also the only player outside Kanto who managed to get EXC in Kanto's 0:30:40 time limit.
Kyushu: the only region where players "still" have a chance to enter the next round, but there's only 1 slot left.

Many players from Kanto are now criticizing Konami for starting round 2 at a time which most players have to work (as one of the winners stated that he got his slot by heading to the arcade instead of school), and for applying the FCFS rule on a game like jubeat. Oh well.

Wow, stuff like this I find very interesting. Great post.

I can't imagine the frustration players must be feeling who didn't qualify purely based on the fact the were beat in time and not in skill. It's completely unfair.

It'd be like back in the SN1 days and they pick some 7's and 8's and the first 4 people to PFC them is moving on. With out marvelous timing or something equivalent to it, a tournament like that is doomed to be regarded as a failure.

On my end I'm currently rank #1 in my region but with only 2 days of qualifying I doubt I'll stay there long. Gotta improve it soon to secure a spot.

And eventually you got the spot, congrats!
Remember to check your e-mail, as they announced on the front page that they are going to send details about the finals to the e-mail address you registered in your Konami ID account.

Oh and by the way, are you also going to attend this? Laughing Out Loud

Thanks a lot. Also, I have been checking my e-mail but so far I haven't got anything from them and neither has 513. I'd assume they would have sent it by now but maybe not.

Also I'm not sure whats going to happen now. What you just posted at the end is very big news that I wasn't expecting. I didn't know they'd have an Asia Championship, if I did, I wouldn't have bothered entering the Japanese event. Now to be honest, I kinda feel like a dick by entering an event not including my area when there will be one in my area. I really don't know if they'll even let me enter both let alone the Japanese one. I'm still half expecting to get an e-mail saying they know who I am and where I live and can't enter into the event. And even if I some how manage to enter and play in that event, they might not let me enter the Asia tournament afterwards, at least under the same name/ID. Who knows...

I'm not sure what I'm going to try to do. I wonder if I tell them I can't enter the Japanese tournament they'll let the #5 person in my region enter it. If so, it's make me feel a little better. As of right now, it seems unlikely I'll even make it to the event in Japan but only time will tell.

I don't know, when I first saw your reply I was like "Oh, it'll be a shame if you were qualified but couldn't enter the finals! There aren't many chances to compete against the top players in an open tournament like this!"

Anyway, there are some updates about KACA:
DDRX2 Competition Rules
Online Entry Form (Active)

Some highlights:
1. You have to fill out the online entry form to enter (I'm not sure about the Chinese name thing, maybe you have to ask the officials)
2. Round 1 shares exactly the same songlist as KAC
3. ALL contestants will be able to enter round 2 and vote for the songlist
4. 8 finalists will be chosen by ranking the combined total score of BOTH rounds (FCFS rule still applies)
5. The finals will be held at Hong Kong, and the winner may be invited to Japan

"Let's get this movin'"
I'm checked some about this. Looks like the entry is "first come first serve" - also, you must be on HK, Macau or Singapore to enter. You also need to enter your full ea-pass id and konami id (game id)

By the way, where's my present?

Well I never received that Japan finals e-mail so I guess I'm not going after all. They must not want me there or something cause they did send an email to 513 and he'll go.

It also looks like I wont be in the Asia tournament either since I don't have a Chinese ID nor an official Chinese name. Bummer.

Just key the name column in English. It will go through.

i tried, it wouldnt work

EDIT:

The DDR part of the championship will be taking place in only a few hours. I was here yesterday watching some of the GF and DM portions of the tournament to get an idea of what to expect today.

I will be playing today in the tournament but not sure how well I'll do since I'll be on a dedicab (I'm not used to them) with nearly 200 spectators, cameras, lights, foreign language... Anyways, wish me luck.

The event will be on U Stream in a few hours starting at 11am japan time,. More info here
