It's what sillybear calls it "DDR SN2 Hybrid" theme. The select music and total result screens are based from DDR X2 AC.

If there is something you should avoid, from what I hear, it should be SM5 preview 3.
I heard it has bugs.
I'm waiting for SM5 preview 4.

Every version of StepMania ever has "bugs".
preview 3 is way more stable than 1 & 2 were.

AeronPeryton is correct. The most talked about known issue in SM5 P3 is the resolution and fullscreen switching issues, and those are bearable and safe. At least in SM5 p3, they already fixed the "Fail Mode Options" not working in previous versions.

shockingly enough i'm not having any problems with the new preview, i tend to keep my interface like how it was with ddr solo, right in the middle. the score frames and whatnot were on from default. but yeah..

I also not have problem with SM5P3. Everything have been sweet and smooth. The only issue that I have found are that some videos don't play well in the background, but only like 5% of them.

My problem is that one of the video background run at a insane speed, like a auto-forward. For Stepmania AMX and 3.9+ it runs perfectly.

We inherited a codebase with completely broken movie support, and we haven't been able to fix it yet. h.264 videos are known broken, and some others are too.

hate to ask but here it goes anyways, anything new from the maker of the theme? like has anyone gotten in contact with sillybear to see how far the theme has gotten since the last pictures have been seen?
