I think a new generation is created with the game's introduction to a new console, and therefore a new audience of people that hadn't tried or even heard of the game before. It may not be the same scene generation of players who frequent the arcades but it's a new generation no less.
For instance, I've had no less than three different groups of players walk up to an EXTREME machine and ask me where all the songs from ULTRAMIX are. Cause, 'This came out after ULTRAMIX... didn't it?'

I can't agree with this as PS2 saw at least 2 different generations of DDR: Max-Extreme are distinctly different from Extreme2 - X2.

I didn't discount that possibility though. did I? You don't think that the release of DDRMAX started a new group of people on DDR?

So the wankery that went on with DS SN2 isn't a new thing! Wowzers.
I think EuroMIX on the PSOne still holds the Dancing Stage Wankery Title.
(Only started playing in 2001 so doesn't know what happened)

It was delayed for 18 months. When it was released, copies didn't show up in stores for another 3 weeks.
When it finally came out, all of the Dancemanice licenses were missing. A lot of people pre-ordered the game and mat expecting an arcade conversion, and a lot of people were pissed off.
The reason Konami didn't include any Dancemania songs was because they spent £1 million to obtain exclusive licenses for the 8 Universal songs.
There was no Edit Mode, which as we all know, is a crime against humanity.
There weren't any hidden songs / CS modes / anything else we'd come to expect from CS releases. It was just EuroMIX with all of the Dancemania licenses removed, running in the wrong aspect ratio.

Wonder how much of that million was for I Will Survive?
