Hell, just come in a talk. You can watch us play
I really should play tomorrow and see what I can do.

That sounds good but how will you know I actually did it?

Also, I wish I could join this workout club but I have no camera. Maybe there should be some kind of log where we can input our workout results but we need a photo to prove it. Just like the AC score tracker but it's CS and workout mode specific.
This is a good idea. If I could do this, I can only do pics because I'm on an iPod touch and I have no access to a computer... But then how would I share the pictures? Grr.Post #26 · Posted at 2011-01-23 12:29:15pm 14.4 years ago

That is a good idea for those who can't stream video. We just need to figure out a way to get this all together.
Would we just start a new thread and post the screenshots/pics there?

First of all thanks, but can't iPod touch upload pics to the internet? I don't really know because I don't own one but I never heard of problems with that.

Yeah, it can. But it would be a hassle to link them all here. What if I played 38 songs or something? D: ...Well I guess I could make a separate photobucket album or something...Post #29 · Posted at 2011-01-23 12:53:19pm 14.4 years ago

That sound like a good idea. You could post updates and we can go to the album and view it. That sounds much easier.
Append:
Let's come up with some guidelines and ideas before this thread is actually created.
Append 2:
Guideline ideas
1. You must only play in workout mode.
2. You must provide a picture to prove your entry.
Other ideas
Kind of obvious but pictures can be posted here just like DDR, ITG, and SM accomplishments thread.
I might come up with some more later.

Urrrrr guys, you DO know that some DDR CS version track your total burned calories AFTER a set number of songs, right?
You can set Workout Mode in many different areas, from how many calories you want to burn, how much time, or just straight up free play. I know there are some CS games that will allow you to track your entire day's calorie count and how much of an equivalence it was to running, swimming, etc., but not too sure if the older (Extreme -> Konamix) has that option, all's i know is that the newer CS versions have that option with Workout Mode.
Why not suggest take a picture of the total amount of calories you burnt for one session? OR if people are very "timed base", why not set a time limit (like 30 minutes for example) and after the 30 minutes you take a picture of the total amount of calories you burned.
I don't really see why you would want to take pictures of each individual song's scores, isn't this idea just based off working out and not solely score based? I can understand that there needs to be some validity to the process, but everyone can start even on Beginner, as long as they are doing it on Workout Mode, right?
This idea seems to be kicking off, hell i wonder if we can get Alan to make some sort of "Workout Tracker" to see who's losing the most calories (with picture or video proof of course)
Edit: Count me in as well, and i suggest you change the title of the thread to "ZIv's DDR Workout Thread/Accomplishments Thread"

Just play the game. Start off with some easy charts. I usually warm up with Stoic or another easier 9. After that, jump right into a higher 9 or a 10. If you take a slow approach (like playing some 7s, an 8, then a few 9s, then maybe a 10) then by the time you're ready for something harder, fatigue sets in. I've tried lots of different ways of gaining stamina, and that seems to be the way that works for me.
And yeah, being fat isn't an excuse.
As for the above idea, it sounds neat and i'd participate in it if it kicks off.
Just remember to set your weight correctly ;)

I just want to ask something. Does the ability to do hard songs depend on how fat you are? I blame that I'm too fat and heavy to lift myself to do stuff like Sunkiss Drop
, Dead End
or Healing Vision (Angelic Mix)
.
I can do Flowers
with some warmup, pass Trip Machine Climax
with a D (did it when I was lucky), but fail Captivate Chikai
.
EDIT: Workout Mode Tracker? I like the sound of that. I may not have CS DDR versions, but I can do it on the DDR X2 near me.

I'm kinda fat and I can do songs like HVAM
and Exotic Ethnic
without any problems.
You just need to learn how to control your movements properly. Flat footing definitely helps. (and no, despite what hellrazor might tell you, flat footing does not equal bracket raping)

Well, I do step by toes when it comes to hard songs. I play with no bar, btw.

Try to break the habit on going on your toes during hard songs. You're probably over-exerting yourself.
Bar use is good if you're going for stamina and/or accuracy. Basically... use it if you feel like you need to use it, but do not make it a crutch.

Guilty on the boldfaced part. Okay, will follow your advice.

mageman17: I play no-bar too (mostly), and the key to not using as much energy is to not move as far. I suggest standing at an angle and using your toes for the front two and heels for the back two. (Well that's basically a drawn-out way of saying you should flatfoot). It helps with not having to reach back as far for crossovers, but takes practice to avoid hitting metal.
Now as far as breathing goes, I think that's part of my problem haha!

Uh.. the point is to "get fit" again. That means playing no-bar, and making clean movements that expand and contract all the muscles involved. There's no point using techniques like bracketing, because those are designed to minimise the ammount of energy you're using, per movement.
Getting fit isn't "passing 40 songs in a row, by any means necessary", it's playing many songs back-to-back, for the sake of working and strengthening the muscles, and building stamina.

Play some doubles charts - they require a lot more movement and thus more energy
I tend to play everything up to low 10's on my toes, both doubles and singles.
Also, I find that keeping up with my 3x 30min of traditional exercise per week helps me stay in pretty good shape for dance games. Aerobic exercise transfers well, and not all of us can be lucky enough to get fit from didderses alone...
