I can already tell you Gameworks Schaumburg is being very picky. I talked to the manager and he only wants X2 after he is forced to throw away another DDR cabinet (no joke). I feel if you can show your support enough for this location you could change his/their mind and tell them the benefits of upgrading their cabinet (new pads, extensive song list why its a better game) they might change their minds. So far me and only a few other are asking for it so I am not sure if they realize that X2 is a very big deal.

I realize some of you might say "that is like selling them the game". But if they keep hearing the same comments over and over about what makes X2 so great they will be even more influenced into the purchase. Most arcade operators dont think or know why this upgrade is important, its your job to tell them. I guess what I am trying to say is dont try to be too pushy.

Oh and one more thing. If your contacting Gameworks Schaumburg, they are apparently really interested in setting up e-amuse at their venue and are still looking into setting it up. You might want to include something about the e-amuse service as well and why it benefits X2 specifically (of course that is if Betson is offering the service for X2).

Dude, how can I contact Gameworks Schaumburg? I live in the area and I hope they don't throw their old cabs away (that has the DDR Extreme that I first passed Bag on 1x and the Supernova machine that I first arcade 9-footer was achieved on, which was Brilliant RED). I also don't want them to do anything about DDR X because I've never played one of those machines before. So I really want them to get a new machine. Maybe put Extreme & Supernova on the top floor and X & X2 on the bottom.

I talk to the manager over Facebook. His name is Jim Olson, you can find his profile page by scrolling through the comments on Gameworks Schaumburg's facebook page. He won't accept a friend request from you, but you can still message him about anything and usually will contact you back.

You're not missing much, aside from the most unresponsive pads and worst screen lag ever.

OK get this: Famous Players Silvercity Richmond Hill has a ITG 2 machine and it's been there for several months and I think it's time to be replaced by DDR X2! The address is 8771 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, ON and the phone number is (416) 646-0444? How do I convince Famous Players Silvercity Richmond Hill to get DDR X2? How?

That ITG 2 machine would have to have custom songs disabled and be in terrible shape for players to want X2 over it.

Even if you do get a PFC AAA you will still look like a noob because of the perfect count. Thanks screen lag!

Yeah cuz brand new interface, wide screen, brand new pads and the latest mix aren't reason enough. Just because ITG2 is hackable or even has R21/23 doesn't make it the end all to be all dancing games. I'd rather play on an X2 than an ITG2 R21 any day.

Not to de-rail this thread, Zuma Fun Centers were bought by a different management group. They're pretty responsive to Facebook, they fixed the SuperNOVA pads. Hopefully we can push them to get X2,

I have to second Aeron. I love X2 and would like to never touch ITG again, but my DDR friends and their friends have migrated to ITG, and it'd be assisting the death of my arcade to ditch ITG for DDR. Replacing the game a lot of players play to force them to play something new would probably just tick them off. My arcade just did that to me over the summer. ;>_> To believe ITG people addicted to custom songs would willingly play X2 is sort of wishful thinking.

On that note, I'd like to ask some arcade in Nebraska to get X2, but behind the scenes, arcades are kinda broke. I work at Family Fun Center (which isn't even listed on this site... ?) but it seems that they don't care what I personally have to say if I'm not paying for the games. They're down to like three dance games (ITG, Max2, and 5th mix, and I want them to consider selling one or both of the DDRs for X2). I'm gonna beg them anyway... so someone else in the area should help (if anyone else even lives in that part of the Midwest ^^;) and with a concerned customer's word, it might get through this time. If FFC doesn't work out, I'll resort to competing arcades. xP But FFC was once the best arcade around when it prospered... I want it to come back.
I am very surprised that Tilt was a chain arcade. o_o The one I go to is listed on the Tilt site, but when you walk in that one it's... really depressing. Used to rock; now it's like broken Pump and Capcom vs. whatever. I have like no faith in that location. xP

Anyway... unless some arcade wins the lottery... a lot of the ones around here are either barely hanging onto their business or don't care enough to buy a $10k game. I'm surprised anyone's request went through successfully, but gratz on that.

Nobody's stopping you from making the arcade listings more complete Tongue

But yeah, it's wishful thinking to think that any arcade with an ITG2 dedicab would ditch it and fork over $10k for a game with unproven pads*, especially if their ITG2 still gets decent traffic.

(*Daiz, how sure are you that you'd want to play DDR X2 US over ITG2 anyday?)

@PaperSak, That's pretty much what I meant. The arcade owners may be sold on the "newness" of the machine but the players are going to be aware of the actual trade off in regards to (potential) content. Casual players don't care which interface is which, heavy players just don't care. They care about the songs, the mods, the condition of the pads... And if the ITG in question is an Andamiro dedicab then you can bet cash money the players will be sore over it's loss and just go elsewhere. Leaving the X2 machine to pick up maybe 30 bucks a month from casual players.

So that I'm actually on topic; I think Konami did a good job with the English machines this time around given what they had to work with. And X2 is a contender for best mix of all time. But replacing a high revenue machine that can be paid off in months by dedicated players with something that will almost completely rely on one-offs is shooting one's self in the foot.

And that's going to be the problem with getting them in the UK. Not many arcades have that many dedicated players, and the places that do have oITG or a hacked machine.
There aren't many X's, it's all EM, EM2, and maybe a few Fusions. It's all anyone seems to need or want, the casual players get their pop songs, and there's some Japanese and crossovers for those that can be bothered to scroll down the songlist.
I really don't think many places in the UK will be buying this upgrade, and tbh, I don't think I can be bothered to try and ask them.

It is a great mix, and I'm just glad the location test machine in Troc is still there so I can play, even if it is slightly crappy Tongue

Yeah, you'd have to be a big chain amusement center to easily justify getting a five-digit arcade game. And in America even those are starting to go under because they just don't get the traffic they used to.

Please let's not turn this into another ITG vs. DDR topic. This topic is strictly for fans who is seeing X2, has nothing better to play, and want it in their area. I'd be more than happy to start a second topic to discuss ITG vs. DDR, though it really would be discussing nothing new. So if any tries to drag this off topic after this post, I will be notifying a moderator. Thank you for your co-operation.

To be fair, it isnt really an itg vs ddr discussion. Its a matter of why buy another machine when you already have another dance machine thats still popular.

And one that pretty much never needs to be upgraded because of the freedom to play your own songs and players hacking the game. It seriously is a big problem when you are telling arcade operators to buy a new game and the one they have still brings them in a lot of revenue. Even places like my local gameworks are just not interested in it because DDR X was awful, and they still have a perfectly good EXTREME and SuperNOVA to play on. I have thought about doing a fund raiser, but I want to wait until they actually start sending out upgrades kits to arcades that already have X.

Before I went to the DDRX2 location test in Blackpool, I would have agreed with you. When I got there, I couldn't believe the ammount of DDRX cabinets I saw.

The weird thing is that I'm not seeing Bowling Alleys upgrading beyond EuroMix 2. Perhaps the bowling alley chains are the best place to start sending our letters to?

I'm not sure how they'd react, the EM2 etc cabs there, are there because of the songs on them. TBH I'm not sure how our Fusion lasted this long. (despite my efforts to get rid of it for something better)
Since the bowling is their game, I don't think many put effort into their arcades. Yet every one I've been to has one dance machine, so I've no idea.

Alright so our Gameworks Facebook page is going to be taken down very soon and they want us to write on the official Gameworks (all locations) page. I just made a post about getting DDR X2 at the Schaumburg location and I would really appreciate everyone to show their support for the game and the Schaumburg location. We have gotten our Gameworks to bring in a lot of games and even bring some back because of our Facebook page, such as Sangokushi Taisen and Super Street Fighter IV, so to say the least showing your support for the game will get the game in there!

You can post on their page or reply directly to my post (Mark Hansen) here...

You should try campaigning it into Dave & Busters. They would probably get it, considering how they could charge you more to play that then their SN2 machine

The weird thing is that I'm not seeing Bowling Alleys upgrading beyond EuroMix 2.

In most casual locations in the UK (and that's most bowling alleys) this is *still* the bigger moneymaker of the dancegames, and dancegames are no longer the most profitable video games for them (hi racing games, redemption games).

Seaside resorts are somewhat different in nature - they go for big and new and shiny (hence why the Blackpool arcades also have plenty of those abysmal Terminator Salvation cabs), I wouldn't be surprised to see most of those upgrade to DDR X2.

Err, no-one has. If you are serious in the drive to get operators to get DDR X2, then they - the ops - need to know it's going to make them more money then their existing cabs + the price of the new cab, and as such the question of whether or not an arcade will ditch an existing ITG2 cab (or an existing DDR cab, for that matter) is a valid one.

I'm interested to see how Konami will present and promote DDR X2 at EAG (=UK arcade trade show) in a couple of weeks, especially given the tough economic times for operators at the moment...

which looks just as silly as it sounds (especially if it's only been several months, not years)
